Bollywood actress Disha Patani’s elder sister, Khushboo Patani, a retired Major from the Indian Army, recently found herself at the center of a social media storm after speaking out against controversial comments made by spiritual preacher Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. His statements, which criticised women in live-in relationships, were widely condemned as misogynistic.
Khushboo publicly criticised the remarks, calling them regressive and deeply biased against women. Her response quickly went viral, drawing both praise and backlash. However, what followed was a troubling twist—her comments were taken out of context, and manipulated videos began circulating, falsely claiming that she had spoken against another respected saint, Premanand Maharaj ji.
To set the record straight, Khushboo issued a detailed statement on her Instagram story, clarifying the misunderstanding. She wrote:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMvdqxaSIpE/?igsh=MWoycGQ2YzVzZ3JmcQ==It has come to my notice that a false narrative is being circulated online, mixing my name with revered spiritual figure Premanand Maharaj ji, and spreading baseless claims that I’ve said something about him. Let me make this very clear –I have not made any statement against Premanand Maharaj ji. My words were strictly in response to a misogynistic comment made by Anirudh Acharya, and were directed only at him. It deeply pains me to see people misusing and twisting my words, dragging my name and my family name into something we have nothing to do with. This kind of targeted misinformation is not only unethical but dangerous. Respecting saints and spiritual traditions is something I hold deeply in my heart. But calling out misogyny, wherever it comes from, is also my dharma – and I will not remain silent in the face of To those spreading lies — truth always stands tall. I request everyone to refrain from spreading manipulated videos and incorrect information. If this continues, I will be forced to take legal action against defamatory content. With truth,Khushboo Patani(Retd. Major, Indian Army)”

Khushboo’s firm response highlights the rising issue of digital misinformation and how public figures are often misquoted or misrepresented. Her statement stands as a reminder to maintain integrity in discourse and avoid spreading distorted narratives online.
