No one is trying to lay down a rule - that's how women (or men) need to be or not be.
Within any norm there are exceptions.
Everyone does what gives them happiness, and as people grow, their circle of happiness grows from what gives them happiness, to what brings happiness to their friends, parents, husbands, children, etc. Their happiness makes them happy. And so Khushi is a girl mature beyond her age, she understand relations in her world, and lives accordingly.
But the pre-marital sex was almost a rush-job to get the scene done while LM was with IPK. Then, luckily they were able to bring him back.
Does the PH feel like fools now, rushing the SR, because they didn't know if LM would be there after the marriage ? Probably.
Just like they turned Anjie's character negative to meet with her demands.
So PH is doing a juggling act trying to keep the audience, the actors, and who knows who-else happy
