With respect to the hypocrisy I agree there were occasions when she contradicted herself... she talked about wearing dresses which cover up all yet her dress on sangeet was a little too much for her taste... She was not aware that saat phere was very important to complete the wedding though she was hired at some point to teach values and rasams to La... And ofcourse the SR before wedding was a shocker from Khushi who had denied SR the first time citing their marriage is incomplete...
Her actions are all driven by good selfless intentions which makes it an overdose of goodness from a human... Her incessant lying has always irritated me to no bounds...she interferes too much in other's life ... be it ASR - La relationship , Shyam and RM equation , Payal - Akash relationship etc etc... and I honestly dislike her messing up things and later crying her heart out and uttering dialogues like 'Di hamara vishwas kijiye' , 'Arnavji hamara woh matlab nahin tha' etc etc ...
Khushi is an undercooked character who started off on a right track but ended up being neither a spunky woman with substance nor a SP bahu... I can't relate to her logically be it her extreme over goody intentions and actions or her inconsistent behaviour ... She is tagged a child woman!! ...I honestly sympathize with ASR , he is burdened with a child woman - Khushi and a woman child - Anjali! ...

I second that!

She's a neglected character with so much potential. I can only blame the Cvs.

Hiya Rocker guess I did ask for this...
and while i agree the whole madonna complex mixed with the righteous ideal indian woman...the child like innocience and the fearless durga are all that makes up masal kushi and a contradiction...
the fact that she made luv to him in the moment (which i am kinda not sure about)...because she trusted him , luved him made it all sweet and that whole proverbial SR did not come on the night and look all contrived was a bit relieving...
that someone dispite there strong convictions was able to see past them ...and thru the eyes of her husband was also touching...
now for the rest later...

For example, I am also a very independent person. So if I were to think like Khushi, I would think - I will not let anyone help - its my ability to do things myself, that gives me pleasure in an environment where I am not really independent, as in not really living by myself and supporting myself.

As far as calling Shyam also with a ji - its still her culture to address everyone respectfully - no need to dirty your mouth if the person you are addressing is filth. Sort of the old English way of calling your opponent Sir - even though you want to kill them.

BTW - have you lived in India ?

@Bold Guilty as charged. 😆
I've only come here on vacation. Like now!

I luv d point u bring about pre-maritial sex..👏👏
Although that was by mutual consent..But if we see KKG character..thn its undigestable!!
She stopped arnav on janmashtmi by saying"pheres not done...no SR" n asked ASR to get married..
n then she did sex just one day before marriage...this one is truely not relatable to a character who fought wid Laa n ASR on live-in-relationship..

n I guess her character can be more strong...I mean in 1 day..she is matured woman, planning for exposing Shyam n in another day,she do all childish antics n carry picnic bags to theatre
Her character has to be developed..as now she is a married woman.

Being a married woman with an extended family, and living in the US, and having seen so many other Indian families, I will say that :

Indian men living with their families want their wives to be independent yet innocent, demure yet strong. So Khushi and Anjali are what many Indian men want in their wives.

Its all a matter of perspective.

Completely agree.

I had a cow about it - when the TM kernal (who some said was Gul in disguise) - declared it was just love-making - it wasn't sex.

But what the hell - she couldn't wait 1 more day ?

Or at least they could have given us a real SR to disprove that it wasn't pre-marital sex, where they completely assassinated their own female lead's character 😡😡😡 and also that of the male lead, who knew fully well what Khushi's values were, but decided to go ahead and do it, just because Khushi got weak 😡😡😡😡.

@RED Which doesn't necessarily make it any less disturbing to me.

Should we break out of that system?

Yes it is perspective. And perhaps RC is still wet behind the ears when it comes to marital bliss.

But rest assured Khuhsi is by no means my role modal.

Hmmm I am not sure if Indian men want Khushi and Anjali in their lives but for me both are too extremes and unbalanced characters !!

I totally agree with you RC.

To a point...
The character Khushi has too much inconsistencies and I blame that on a very horribly written script and story in general. One moment they try to make her look so perfect and innocent that it turns out horrible. I agree she has lived a very sheltered life but a lot of things about her does not sit well with such as her Mother Theresa avatar which it is too much at times. The way she easily forgave Arnav for something that Khushi looking in on the outside would have punished him for did not sit well with me. Imagine she was the same Khushi who made Lavanya realize she was worth more than Arnav's piece on the side.

Sometimes I think that she's really damaged emotionally from her past and she has a good way of hiding it. Arnav chose to lash out where as Khushi is living up to her name and may have never come to terms with her real grief and loss because she is expected to be a certain way.

In regards to her traits; Khushi lives in a society that is governed by certain expectations for a traditional Indian girl, actually there is a society like this in every country in every corner of the globe. Everything she practices is what she's seen and have been taught. I think the part where she selpt with Arnav the night before shows that in regards to love there should be no barriers or boundaries she has started to break free. When she made that decision she was in love and she understood what it means to love a man as most women no matter how naive they are eventually do. The Khushi that slept with Arnav was not the same Khushi who frowned on a live in relationship months before.

Back to the expectations...
In my opinion most traditional girls are mental slaves and products of their environments. They posses this inability to actually view themselves differently from commonly held beliefs. They live up to everyone's expectations and never take time to explore themselves properly. Their desires and expectation of themselves and their lives are lowered. Their husband becomes God and they in turn lose themselves among the faces of the countless unacknowledged self-righteous wives across the globe because they don't have a real identity.
