Exactly ... Even I was tolerating the track believing that Shivay will soon realise his mistake and accept Anika... From the time Gul announced that he is not gonna change, I M not able to tolerate him on screen ... I mean does such a character even deserve to be the lead of the story ... What is take home from watching this? Will Shivay ever have anything to give back to Anika? And why should Anika even put up with a person who does not respect her... From past 2-3 days I am finding this serial disgusting

Before moving to Canada I spent 16 years of my life in India and attended many marriages and grown up among lot of people in a middle class family. I have not witnessed any Hate or contract marriages within that time span. I did not know any super rich people like oberois. But I am sure they also don't behave like the way shivay behaving. 5 years back when I was still a teenage I used to watch IPK and used to love that show bcoz of the handsome hero and the charm of classic Indian touch on heroine used to amaze me. But now the time has changed..I cannot take the same regressive thoughts on the name of hate love story anymore..I stopped watching IB and I don't know when I can start to watch it again..already life is full of tension and we want to see something refreshing on TV. I love watching my country people on TV..their story, their festival..makes me feel good..but don't want to spoil my mood seeing this bull shit anymore..this is not nayi soch..this is the same old soch of gul Khan which is not changed even after so many years!

I am from USA I agree to ur analysis why wedding is ultimate track for all shows on tv call it trp catcher / twist to make ppl desperate to watch .
Nowadays all Hindi tv shows following same trend gone those unique shows were we used to get in sonytv and star plus always follows a rule torture women get trp types of show saas shouts hero mute and heroine super lady who is good in the house but outside tigress .

Past 2-3 yrs no shows are mind blowing same old saga with new faces and to top it trp for trp normal show because supernatural ( sasural simar) and what not and colors channel brought nag Nagin on shows which ppl watch being educated and in small town they only watch same saas Babu types .
Unique shows don't work great because of trp Sony tv still try new things but ppl hardly watch that channel wonder why that channel suffers ( reporters, kuch rang ke( they even ruined it ) now Jenny show beyhaad is unique in life ok we had Devon ka dev unique story grand set up but trp always suffered makers try to bring new concept but ppl in towns are not watching it they want only saas Bahu hubby tortures wife and Mahan wife forgives him .

In 90s creativity ruled what shows we used to get but now trp race to get trp heroine can turn in to a fly what nonsense and normal shows will end up in wedding track because after wedding story interests ppl .

We have no choice only changing channels to look for uniqueness hoping one day we get creativity ruling the shows .

Good to see this post!! All these shows are regressive in their own way. And once in a while, if a progressive show does come along, it doesn't get TRPs thereby giving the message to channels and producers that this regressive stuff is what viewers want.

I guess the regressiveness in IB started with Shivaay's 3 days challenge to Anika and Shivaay wins it with Anika ultimately ending up working for Shivaay. This forced marriage is just the next step. And all these are labelled as 'ishqbaazi' and 'jo bhi hai takkar ki hai'. I don't see what kind of 'takkar' is really there... being able to mouth some dialogues and throwing water isn't about showing 'takkar'. I would have rather have had Anika find another job elsewhere, no matter how small it is, and lead her life by herself and refuse to be forced into a sham wedding.

I'd bame the audience not the makers. They do business. Trash tv sells. The harsh and shameful dark truth is that majority of women who invest themselves on tv shows and ametur novels love and romanticise MCPs who comes with money, power and of course swooning good looks. They love fan-girl'ing over poor, naive yet spirited ( deluded ) woman falling for this MCP and then gradually changing him into a " good person " and the road to it is full of force full demands, stalking, blackmailing, physical and emotional abuse, bullying yada yada yada...you know the drill, masochism. The man in question can act as he please till he is supposedly "changed" by our FL's loouu. He can treat her like his dearest possession ( door mat ) yet we shall swoon. Sadistic...everything will be forgiven and justified cause our man had a bad, dark past. So he shall do as he please. Ever wonder why books like Grey sells millions of copies and good god it's a successful movie with sequels in making.🤢 😆

Shockingly, a female lead of a historical show on the same channel is hated and called names just because she is grey close to negative. Some girls hate her if she behaves rudely with the hero and now most probably enjoying her state of her being shattered due to losing her family and being imprisoned by the hero and soon will become his 3rd wife in a forced marriage. If that character was a make then the same girls would have sympathesized with him no matter what he would do giving excuse of his family environment but a woman can't be excused for the same. In this show itself, Ishaana was hated like anything but Shivaay is worshipped just because he is a man. If a man does any wrong it's attitude and if a woman does the same she is a bitch.

TM, I saw you in the forum of Gul' s longest running show. I think you left that forum or even show when the hero slapped heroine.

Agree with you wholeheartedly , I too am in Canada and my main reason to watch Indian serials was to keep my Hindi fresh as I do not interact with too many of my country folks in Canada.

But this regressive thinking and this double standard shown in these shows is appalling and by doing this over and over again in many shows it starts to lull us in believing that it is normal for women to be treated like this all the time.

Women producing these shows and standing by and letting this happen in their show is even more shameful. I hope your great post does reach the P R and wish that they get to know that
there is an audience out there that will accept a mature and sensible story line that keeps us entertained and still not insult our intelligence by this bull crap that the serials put out.

Here's hoping that some producers out there have enough guts to right this backward and destructive storyline and bring new and innovative ideas for a good Indian Serial.

No use of sending any message. Gul will always give ridiculous excuses. During Qubool Hai, some people wrote complaints against the show at least 3-4 times but she only got worse after each complaint. You are right. Shivaay looks like a villain. It reminds me of hindi movie where a girl gets molested and raped after being chased by the villain and his men. If it was 70s or 80s, Shivaay could have easily passed as a villain. But in 2016, we get such nonsense. Still Shivaay is supported by girls here and on Instagram. No wonder why men are becoming more jerks in our country instead of treating women with respect. This Gul is only getting more creepy years after years. What next? Gul will show hero raping heroine as normal. Then also he will be supported. India has gone till moon but Gul is still in gutter and gandi naali.

I'm glad to find that there are some people who are on the same page with me!

In a show where we have strong characters like Annika and Soumya, where we had entire episodes on women power and equality, you would think things would be different. However, it's the same story again, the man misunderstanding his girl and then torturing the living hell out of her. And well, we know if Gul is asked about this she'd make up an excuse about TRPs and stuff but honestly in my opinion what the audience wants is something different. I was really loving how Shivika love story was panning out but now after the introduction of this hate marriage track all I'm left feeling is a strong sense of deja vu.

I'm still hoping for a strong redemption track somewhere down the line, it's not the solution to such regressive tracks but it will be something atleast. But sadly with Gul, I think even that is just wishful thinking.
