I just wish Oberois go bankrupt like Yasaran family๐Ÿ˜†. I may seem sadist but really want this happen to Oberoi family as no one of the members care about Anika and none of the elders taught manners to Shivaay. He easily made the lawyer run awat5witb 50K which was for Sahil's custody. Does he have any idea how hard it's to earn such a big amount for a middle-class person? Shivaay can marry or use & throw any girl he wants but she dud remain unmarried. Wats d excuse of people saying dat he is angry wid ONS n he has MU regarding dat? So wat? Does dat give him right to forcibly marry her using a 5 year old kid? Even if she actually slept wid a guy he did just mind his ticking business n focus on his marriage. I am horrified to see Insta comments on several videos where not a single member is saying dat way Shivaay is doing is wrong. Someone don't know if its girl or boy wrote dat why she is crying?...she sud be smiling. I was like WTH? I was reminded of a post where d poster wrote dat Zoya liked Asad' S slap as she had a little smile after dat. Even after more than 3 years of dat slap fiasco Gul is showing nonsense in her shows.

@bold- Omg, are you serious? That is ridiculous!
You raise an extremely important point here, great observation! Nobody on social media is questioning these writers for promoting this nonsense, which is why they feel more empowered. Everyone is going gaga over how he's forcing her to marry him and make him wear the mala and take pheras out of "passion" and "possessiveness". All this while Gul is glorifying it, and her writers are interpreting it in the most positive way possible to make Shivaay look as powerful and controlling as possible. Would they want their family/friends to be in a relationship with someone like Shivaay?

Exactly, I never understood how Dadi herself can be so polite and cultured and yet, not teach Shivaay very basic manners needed to lead a civilized life. I hope Gayatri comes back from the dead and makes them all permanently miserable ๐Ÿ˜† If so much nonsense is happening, they can also bring her back for TRPs.

I am a bit late to this party. Just saw the last few episodes as I finally got some time, so thought to write a comment here. I have followed some of this PH's shows in the past and their regressive attitudes towards the two sexes persists. I have to go out on a limb and say that Annika and Shivaay are probably more progressive than their previous offerings and that is saying a lot.

@Angel_Juhi:

We both know how bad things can get. Lets not go to the last hero of the final season of G's popular show. He was more a criminal than a hero. Enough said. Your right. Rich guy with a bad past can be a good person too. Does not need to go to extremes always. We can all wrongly judge people, but we need not go to such an extent in our prejudice that it looks downright unnatural. Like Shivaay's strange obsession with Khoon and khandan to the extent of ruling his life.

@ TM: Yes this so called ONS misunderstanding? NOT getting this! Is Shivaay is a relationship with Annika? No. Has he in any way confessed to her he has feelings? No. Has he even really accepted to himself he has feelings? Yes and No. But mostly NO, it's denial. So in such a situation, what right does he have to expect anything from Annika? She is a FREE agent. HE is marrying someone for a business deal to further his empire. HE is also doing it for money! He is marrying a woman (that I suppose he knows he has to be intimate with, share a bed with etc) to further his business? He can also be classified as "Paiso ke liye kisi ke saath sona" etc. What is different between what he is doing and what he thinks Annika did? Is it because he is an Oberoi and she is not? So what she does is lowly, but what he does is high class? It's hypocrisy at it's worst!

What does he expect? That Annika will remain unmarried and a "V" for the rest of her life, just so that he can feel she has not become someone else's? Dog in the manger, and totally selfish? How can such selfishness be celebrated as passion or possession? Passion and possession means throwing CAUTION to the wind, and going against one's own beliefs to claim the person one loves. Everything else can go to hell! THAT is an Ishqbaaz! What Shivaay is doing is not Ishabaazi at all. BlackmailBaazi and SelfishBaazi more like.

I actually prefer Shivaay to some of his predecessors in other shows. At least HE got slapped, kind of early in the piece too. (5 months, not bad). Even still, the writing is not progressive and still trying to give it that "spin" of progression. GK is still addicted to old Mills and Boons. She thinks controlling men are sexy. No they are not. Only 16-year-old girls think that and if grown women do too, well then, Houston We have a Problem! ๐Ÿ˜†

Jokes apart, even I think they should not insult the intelligence of the audience. The actors choosing western shows over their own? That's their choice, but that means they don't believe in their own product. Not a shining endorsement. I am not from India, and I am also Non -Indian. So for me, this is a diversion and a glimpse into a different culture etc. I live in the west and grew up watching American and English, Australian etc shows. That is my usual thing and I only started watching Indian TV shows a few years ago. One or two shows have actually impressed me, coz they tried to do something new. Most of them were short-lived, but that was to be expected. The main attraction for me on THIS show is the OBros. I signed up for their stories. In plural. I started late as well, so caught up only 1 month ago. I am still invested in seeing the stories through, but hope for a little bit more progressive attitude to be shown. I am still waiting!

Thing is, I LIKE Shivaay, just not his attitude and what he represents!

Yeah! Like my deal is that I don't care if they wanna watch American/English or any other non-Indian shows in their personal life, but they cannot DISRESPECT the Indian masses by dishing out material that they themselves do not watch or appreciate. Like my McDonald's quote, they are feeding us unhealthy material while they are themselves reaping the joys of success and wealth. Hypocritical to the max, that is. Not to mention, the young actors actually make fun of the stories while teenage girls sit and dream of having these kind of love stories and so-called heroes in their life. As you said, " Houston We Have a Problem" ( I'm from Texas btw ๐Ÿ˜†) .

And exactly, they messed up big time by showing Shivaay's hypocrisy. I love how the man looks and how the actor acts, but I cannot forgive the double standards. He was pretty much selling himself too, more obviously when he was about to marry Tia in a few days to distract everyone from the Gayatri fiasco. I didn't see Annika calling him names then. How could she ? It would make the man look less sexy for the makers and cause a drop in TRPs. Like...there's no logic despite having such a good platform and opportunity to show sooo many new things. There are a gazillion romantic novels to draw inspiration from, look what Pakistanis do. Zindagi Gulzar Hai was such a hit, novel-based, not OTT, addictive, made money etc. She has all these examples in front of her and yet fails miserably at achieving QUALITY control & money together. Why can't a producer show off her intellect and earn money together? Do others not do it ? How will people change if they are not even exposed to more logical shows? I think every channel should have a few pathbreaking/experimental shows which are not TRP-driven, so that they can slowly change people's appetite. But, they do not even try.

Good luck waiting for the Obros stories to unfold, I have lost hope, I thought she learned from her mistakes after I eventually gave up on all her shows, but she hasn't learned. She has this way of making you believe that she's gonna do something different this time around, but then you have a "rinse, wash, repeat" cycle of old concepts after a few glorious months.

Yes, someone actually made such a post wid title Thappad in Zille-ilaahi style or something. Dat time I hardly even stalked dat forum let alone an active member then. From some comments of anti-slap, I got to know dat someone supporting d slap even wrote dat she wants to be slapped by a guy if he is not. During manhandling n death treat by Asad, someosomeone wrote dat he did have not only pushed her against d wall but also kissed her. Don't read who wrote posts but read 4m comments of some girls who were pointing at such horrific statements. Nothing changed even now n Gul is getn only worse every year. Glad I left d show after slap cuz u can't even imagine wat all we were shown for nearly 2 more years. I am also horrified at how elders of Oberoi family not teaching morals to their children or grandchildren. Is it only heroines job to do dat? In QH too, Dilshad wud never seriously rebuke Ahead for insulting Zoya. She was brush off his behaviour n forget bar it soon. Here Dadi behaves as if she got 3 most well-behaved grandsons. She never teaches Shivaay good manners. Not just her but even her parents. She only cares bar her here jaise paras getn talk at ka pyaar n her bahus keeping d family 2gthr. Really? What she, her son's n their wives cud not do 4m so much years how can she think dat her imaginary bahus will do? Did she even told Shivaay dat he did not have not til Anika's contract , her 50K money n her house? 1st she needs to teach her potash some manners before framing of their wives? To make matters worse, Nakul won best actor award at AVTA Awards for his character as Shivaay. Why him out of all actors? Now Him will get more encouraged thinking dat her showing Shivaay like dis got Nakul an award.

i think the hindo serial watching audience want high voltage drama.. frankly no matter how much new age the serials get the viewers still prefer regressive stuff... imagine shows like sns simar do extremely well on trps...
i think gul has ofcourse the same old tried and tested formula in all her shows... and by now even we r used to it.. watching it just as an entertainment is fine but trying to learn or inspire anything from these shows is a plain NO NO... imagine a guy forcibbly marries me.. i can never forgive that person in real life.. but here someday they will be in love... ๐Ÿคช

As an American born to Indian parents and an absolute lover of Indian culture, I can say India is progressing fast, like really really fast. We cannot afford to just sit and let our TV culture become regressive when the country is seeing a phase where chaiwalas and auto drivers are giving you the opportunity to use PAYTM. It honestly and seriously annoys me to see that writers think desis ( Indians and Pakistanis) are so driven by emotions, that they can show emotional abuse to give people a false idea of what real life love and marriages are about. I have NOTHING against the cast, but how many of you think that the cast would watch this kind of a track and enjoy it ? Everyone in India today, especially the youth is becoming so westernized that even the ones who work in such shows rarely watch their own shows, let alone other Indian shows. Many have confessed to it. How does that make you feel ? I don't know about you, but it makes me feel like my intelligence is being insulted, and my trust is being betrayed when good shows become stereotypical, regressive and sadistic. It's sad that the people involved are NOT bad people ( I don't hate anyone from the cast or PH), but I AM definitely offended that that they do this for a living, enjoy the success, watch way more intelligent ( Read:western) content in their personal lives, don't enjoy the regressive tracks of their own shows and yet gain massive appreciation from intelligent viewers who are trusting them with their time.

The new wedding promo where Anika is crying under the veil and Shivaay's hand motion telling her to cover her face is really bringing out the devil in me. Its 2016, do we really need to see the same concepts we saw 5 years ago in a certain show ? Are hate marriages and contract marriages that common that we need to show them on National TV ? How is this contributing to society or even giving us selfish pleasure ?

As a Non-Indian actor once said : " "If I feed you McDonalds every day, you'll get used to it eventually but you can only imagine what you'll look like after 20 years. Will that be my fault or yours?"

Sorry, for this seemingly unrelated and quirky quote, but it is a great analogy for the kind of senseless material we are being shown on the country's biggest channel. If we don't feed audiences better material, this is going to become the trend in TV, and thats how people will begin to think about relationships. And then the media will never be blamed (even though it should be) because we viewers never raise our voice or demand more intelligent, thought-provoking material!!

I do not know if anyone cares about these thoughts or how to get it across to content writers and channels. But, out of sheer concern for how Indians abroad don't have a good way to stay connected with culture, I request someone to please respect and understand my views. And please help me in sending this message to the right people, so that we can have meaningful change or atleast hope for it.

Hi AshRun,

Could not agree more... Indianan TV is all about contradicting reality of India...it is SAD. none story on TV progresses without lead getting married and most of the time marriages are forced or mistake or conspiracy ...

Thanks for the topic...much needed...
