Ishq- Ek Pratha chapter 7
Viplav and Dhani reached Ashram to drop Dhani on his way to Benaras district jail to meet Tripurari.
Dhani was all hesitant to get down from his jeep. She was watching him all the way back. She had not seen him this agitated and downcast ever.He always had a way to make every situation light however grave it is but this time he was all lost and dejected.Viplav sensing Dhanis hesitance saw her questioningly.
"Are you alright?
He just said "Yes". Seeing that Dhani was not convinced "I am fine Dhani. Nothing to worry. I need answers right now"
"Ok. Promise me you will call me once you know anything. And you will pick up my call whenever i call you" .He held her hand tightly and nodded.
She got down and stood in the Ashram steps while his jeep zoomed off.
Dhani and all the ladies were sitting upstairs working on a saree embroidery when they heard a knock on the door.Rajlaxmi dashed to open the door. It was Vakil babus mother!!. Rajlaxmi joined her hands to greet her and asked her to come in. Kanak without even a smile came in and looked around in disgust and asked Rajlaxmi if Dhani is there and she needs to talk to her. Dhani came down nervously. Infact Viplav had already warned her long back that his mother might try to talk her out of their relationship and she should hold her ground. She joined her hands infront of her would be mother in law.
Kanak didn't react . She stared at her angrily and said
"Look i will not pretend to you . I know very well the likes of you. How much money do you want to get out of Viplav's life? I can make sure you and your ladies stay a luxurious life . Just go away from Viplav as far as possible. Tell me how much you want?". Dhani stood transfixed. It was not the first time she had met Choti Malkin. She was abused in the middle of the road by this very person a couple of months back!!. Kanak glared at her and asked
"Is it a deal? Dont rush . Think about it and let me know what all you want. I can arrange it for you . You can consult your Ashram head and come back to me. I would make sure all your demands are met ". Dhani slowly said "I don't know how can i convince you but i really love your son. He is more like a God to me. I know you are doing this to save your son from trouble but trust me only i know how much it hurts me to see him and everyone else getting into trouble because of me" She stopped for a second as she was unable to speak with emotions choking her voice.
"But i can't go away from him ever. Unless unless he himself tells me to!" She said this with a resolution as if to convey to Choti Malkin that its the end of the conversation.Kanak without a second wasted stormed out of Ashram with a disgust. Dhani bit her lips trying to control her tears suddenly realising that her love will always be seen as desperate attempt to come out of widowhood and poverty by everyone even HIS family. No one would see her true love!!
Viplav reached the jail and wrote out a request to meet a prisoner and was waiting in the waiting area.Tripurari was in jail due to a case filed by him. He was charged for Kidnapping Dhani and attempt to murder both Him and Dhani. Viplav himself was handling this case and it was under trial. He had made sure this guy was not granted bail at any cost. Now here he was to take the help of the very man he put in jail.
Viplav got up and went inside seeing the signal of police constable. Tripurari appeared across the jail grill and sat down as if they met everyday and nothing big has happened between them. He could still see wickedness in Tripurari's eyes. 'Even now!! Creep!! 'He thought.His blood boiled seeing him and clenched his fist to control his anger. He had to make sure that his emotions are not visible at any point as that would make him vulnerable and he very well knew Tripurari was vile enough to use it to his gain.
"What made the great Viplav Tripathi grandson of the great Dasharath Tripathi come to me!!I am honoured " he laughed with a remorse .
" I have a proposal to you. This will benefit both of us but mostly you. I need to know everything that happened around Ashram papers and its case ". He stopped watching closely for Tripurari's reaction to this. He could read in Tripurari's face which said "I knew this would happen one day" "I want to know what was my Dadaji's role in it" Viplav continued with a little hestitation.
"Vakil Saab you know what all happened very well. It all happened in front of you" he said faking earnesty.Viplav clutched his teeth and asked "What do you want in return" . He knew what would Tripurari want. But still he did not want to show him that he is ready to do anything for this information . That again would make him weak in front of his adversary.
"What you are asking requires lot of hard work Vakil Saab. Of course you would know being the great lawyer you are" Tripurari said meaningfully stressing every syllable.
"Tell me clearly what you want?" Viplav retorted .
"To start with my freedom immediately and a very little money " Tripurari showed his hand indicating very little.
"No you will not get bail at any cost. And as far as your case is concerned it depends on the informations you provide. I need information with valid proofs. I will not listen to you unless you have proofs for each and everything you say. Proofs good enough to be valid even in courts. Can you do that? If so i will drop all charges on you. This is the last chance for you to get out. There is no other way out" Viplav said coolly hiding his desperation.
"How can i give you proofs sitting in jail Baba? "
"Don't act smart with me you. I know you have hundreds of pawnsunder you". Viplav hit back.
Tripurari sighed and said " Ok i want something for my mother . If you can manage that i will start acting on your requests . But after that my freedom and money. This is non negotiable "
"Deal. What do you want for your mother?" Viplav asked
"Lent her a comfortable home near the place where she works.Once i hear it from my mother your work will get started"
Viplav nodded and said "And one more thing if any of this reaches my grandfather or anyone for that matter this deal will stand nullified" with a stress. He was about to get up when Tripurari asked "what's the guarantee that you will act upon your deal once you get your information "
"As i said this is the only way you can get out. So the only way is to believe my words. All i can say is i will do what i promised "
When he was leaving the room he heard "Be careful Viplav Baba.You have no idea what you are into!!" with a chuckle.
He came out of the prison and drove straight to a secluded place nearby .He had to breath and take in all the things that happened. Certainly there was many things hidden from him. Now should he just wait for Tripurari ? Is there any other way to get answers? There was the Ashram owner but he was no more to be seen in Benaras. What what else can he do? He hit the steering with utter frustration .
He picked up his phone and called his friends Raj and Pankaj to meet up in the evening. He would need their suggestions on this as it seemed he had become completely lost.
He spent his day on his other cases trying hard to concentrate all the while. He also made arrangements for a decent house for Tripurari's mother Durga near her working place. In the evening he met his friends in their usual place a pub. Viplav disclosed all that had happened. His friends he had immense trust on after his Daadi and Dhani. They discussed about it in length over a drink. In coming days they planned to find ways to get answers to all this together.
When they left the pub it was quite late when he remembered he had completely forgotten to call Dhani which he used to every night.He checked his phone and saw 5 missed calls . He immediately called her back .He had already informed her earlier about his meeting with Tripurari .
"Dhani"
"Are you fine ? Where were you all this while? Why didn't you pick up my call ? "
"Relax Relax Shikayati Pudia" Viplav laughed at her train of questions .
"I was with Raj and Pankaj . Didn't realise you called. Sorry "
"This late?.Did you have your dinner?"
"yes. What about you?"
"Yes " Dhani answered
"Go to sleep now . Shall i come to meet you tomorrow morning ? I want to hug you so badly. Its been days!!"
He grinned and could sense she was smiling shyly and a sense of peace descended on him after talking to her.
Here they were with heavy heart but still smiling for each other !
