Viplav sat staring at horizon.River Ganga was flowing regally with people in the ghats taking ablutions and praying fervently .Viplav was evidently waiting for someone .
He could not help but smile at a kid who jumped into Ganges to have a swim.He had not thought that within a single day there could be so many emotions he had to go through!! Half a day earlier he would vouch he is the happiest man on earth!! His Love was reciprocated back to him.
Yes!! Dhani who he loved madly had finally accepted her love for him breaking all shackles around her!! Alas!! He had not got time to even to live the moment.
He had come home and announced about their love and intention of getting married.
His mother Kanak had made a ruckus about this and he kept his ground that his decision would never change.His GrandFather Dasharath Tripathi Mahant of Benaras was standing there without a word.
An hour later he was in his room about to call Tarini Ashram to talk to Dhani.
All seemed well. His mother was still against the marriage but h was sure she would come around.
But before he could call Dhani his grand father strode in with a grim face and blurted
"Viplav you cannot do this!! Mahants grandson cannot marry a widow!! This will cause ripple in Benaras. Its just not my position and status at stake here. People will go to any extent to stop this.We will be outcasted!! "
He held Viplavs shoulder tightly and shouted "there can be killings !! ". Saying this he sat down .Viplav was standing there speechless .Dashrath sat there for a minute waiting for Viplav to react but seeing no reaction he got up made Viplav sit next to him and explained him what all can happen once people come to know about this. Mahanth was equivalent to a king in Benaras . People looked up to him and doing something outrageous as marriage of a widow in his own family would never be allowed at any cost. Saying all this Dashrath left Viplav to come to terms with what he said.
It took a while for him to grasp what his grandfather had said.
Living most his life in Delhi a metropolitan city he was unaware of the nerves of Benaras. He had never thought there could be such grave consequences to marry the person he loved!!
He sat there don't know for how long not knowing how to react to this.
All of a sudden he got up and got out of the house . He needed fresh air badly . He ended up in the Ghat and sat there watching the river.
This was the place where he had first seen HER. And his life had changed completely. He had changed completely. No No.He could not lose her now . He could not imagine life without her.And he very well knew it would be same with her.They both had reached a stage where they could not go back !! It would be disastrous for both !!
His lawyer mind now started thinking the possibilities and solutions to each of the consequences his grandfather had explained about.
He was a lawyer and within a year of being in Benaras he had acquainted himself with Benaras legal community .Even cops and police commissioner was his friend ! He could certainly make sure no one dared harm his family.
But what about his grandfather??He would lose his position and status .How could he stop this!!
He couldnt get solution to this no matter how hard he thought .
His phone started ringing. It was one of his close friends Raj. Perfect timing !! Viplav was in need of his friend more than ever . He picked up the call and asked Raj to meet him immediately .Raj sensing the urgency came to meet him running .
Viplav led bare all his thoughts going on till now to Raj.Raj after listening patiently to viplav took a minute or two to reply. He then said something which Viplav had never thought of.
"Viplav you cant back off at any cost. If you do you are proving to the world that you did something wrong and if you cant handle this no one can ever dare!! Being a Mehants grandson you have the chance to change so many lives by setting example and not budging to society !! "
Viplav was seeing Raj amused about what he just said.
Raj was always involved in one or the other NGOs with his mother and realised this is what made him say that!!
Regardless Viplav wanted just that. A word of encouragement.
It would be a trial time now of their love and all he would need is his Dhani by his side !!
Now here he was waiting for his Dhani !!
