Some poems do stand the test of time. Mir originally wrote it over 300 years ago.

Wow, I didn't know that it was composed by Mir taqui Mir some 300 years ago. I know other Urdu poets of modern time like Jan Nisar Akthar, Shakil Badayuni, Kafi Aazmi and Sahir Ludhianvi etc. LOL. I can never forget this song by Jan Nisar Akthar from movie Prem Parwat. I was writing my grade 12 Physics final exam and this song was playing at a Tea corner outside on the street ha ha ha, there is no place like India, LOL.

by the way he was Javed Akthar's dad.😊

No, I didn't know he was Javed Akhtar's father.

Thanks for sharing the video. That song is on one of my favourite LM CD songs collections. I was in Grade 7 when that movie came out!

Just watched Davinder's promo this evening and it seems like it is going to be a Chekdee Pattee kind of performance.😆

nikkigreen ji, i didn't realize that your signatures are baba bulle shah's kafee which was also used in movie Bobby, sung by Narinder Chanchal. Once Pyrelal ji said that there were 17 takes to finish the recording. Perhaps you remember the other kafees from Bulle Shah - Je tu rab nu manana pehlee yaa nu mana. Rub man janda yaar nu manan aukha ye. AND Isq di navi o navi bahar.

Beside bulle shah, we have some other well known punjabi poets like Shah hussain lahauri, Hashim shah, Varis Shah, Lala Dhani Ram Chatrak, Puran singh, Amrita Pritam, Mohan singh, Nand lal Noorpuri and Shiv Kumar Batalvi. Since I got educated outside punjab I never had a chance to read their mervelous poetry until I came to Canada.

Singing legend Asha Bhosle has promised a very special gift for "Indian Idol 6" contestant Devendra Pal Singh. She has said she will attend the 17-year-old's wedding whenever it happens.

The mischievous Devendra was up to some antics in the second gala round of the popular singing reality show when judge Anu Malik and Salim Merchant began pulling his leg.

They teased him for being young and always opting to sing serious songs.

Show hosts Hussain Kuwajerwalaand Mini Mathur added in the fun by saying that by the time he reaches a marriagble age, he will understand the meaning of the songs he sings.

It was at this point that Asha interrupted and said she will attend Devendra's wedding whenever it happens, said a source from the sets.

After hearing this, the youngster's happiness knew no bounds. The episode will be on air Saturday.

What did you all think of his performance?! It was amazing, his expressions were to die for. The one reason I love him so much is this natural quality about his singing which I do not find the other contestants have on a regular basis. This sort of natural, non-contrived way of singing.

just awesome performance and brought ruh of 18th century Indian poetry back with Mir's famous ghazal...it was one choice in today's gala that was simply awesome ..though purvi took the credit of that Rd burman too loud song and got the award..how i wish they give it to some one who sings hard songs with such low scales in it. and jaspal ji the song u remebered of jan nisaar akhta r is simply beautiful...very beautiful words he was nice poet with some other famous songs like aankhon hi aankhon mein ishara ho gaya

Just watched today's episode..Dav was amazing today as usual...the song he sang today was quite different then last week's song..m glad he tries different styles...
