CVs are actually hurting the sentiments of non-vegetarian Bengalis by showing them as comical caricatures like Pintu who have no sensitivity or consideration for their vegetarian samdhis! This is a totally false depiction and is totally unacceptable!

Very true. That too. In addition to hurting sentiments of vegetarians cvs are also hurting sentiments of non vegetarians showing that they do not understand the sentiments of vegetarians.

Exactly! In real life both groups respect each other's food choices! Live and Let Live shd be the motto! And dont hurt the sentiments of others!Unfortunately CVs love to create drama out of misunderstandings and conflicts like this!
As I said earlier, I have the book with me and as and when I get time will locate the book (unfortunately, do not remember which particular book from my huge repertory) and give the exact sentence. You will not believe, how much more respect I had for my beloved Lord Krishna and the his spirit of tolerance and respect for all, will try to get the exact source soon😊
Vibha ...It is not a surprise to me that you have a good volume of books with you ...because your profession involves an alert mind and some intellect ...for that ,you cultivated a habit of acquiring knowledge ,you are keeping a huge repertoire with you for didactic purpose ...and as Pyaribehna rightly said ...it will take time to recollect where you kept it because of your busy schedule !Originally posted by: pyaaribehna
Really with such a "huge repertory" of "books" it is "natural" for you to not be able to "locate" the book.Naturally so. Surprised though that Lord Krishna has written books other than Geetha. Even Geetha was not written by him.It was written by Ved Vyasa who recorded Sanjaya's narration.Would be glad to know the name of the "book" sometime.
I know ...you are not fond of instructing or advising others , even when it is not welcome or not needed ...but for sharing, you quoted those lines , and as I once said ...in Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna many a times contradict his statements and lastly said ...have wisdom to select your path which leads you towards salvation ! Krishna explains that Arjuna should fight, for avoiding sinful reactions though devotional work is better than attempting to escape reactions through renouncing work!
Krishna also instructs Arjuna to fight to set the proper example of duty. Krishna therefore tells Arjuna to fight, but with knowledge and detachment (3.29-30), without falling victim to his own attractions and aversions!
Vibha ...though I am still to read that book ,yet to heard about it ...but I have faith in you ...if you say it is there ,means it must be there ! Because you can't afford to lose your stature amongst august crowd of this Forum !I know that ...sharing knowledge and expressing views is not a sin ...and certainly not a point to demean or insult anybody !
Pyaribehna ...Theories on the date of composition of the Gita vary considerably. Scholars accept dates from fifth century to second century BC !
The epic Mahabharata is traditionally ascribed to the Sage Ved Vyasa; the Bhagavad Gita, being a part of the Mahabharata, is also ascribed to him! Theories on the date of composition of the Gita vary considerably. Scholars accept dates from fifth century to second century BC as the probable range !The actual dates of composition of the Gita remain unresolved!
The Bhagavadgita combines many different elements from Samkhya and Vedanta philosophy. In matters of religion, its important contribution was the new emphasis placed on devotion, which has since remained a central path in Hinduism. In addition, the popular theism expressed elsewhere in the Mahabharata and the transcendentalism of the Upanishads converge, and a God of personal characteristics is identified with the brahman of the Vedic tradition. The Bhagavadgita thus gives a typology of the three dominant trends of Indian religion: dharma-based householder life, enlightenment-based renunciation, and devotion-based theism.
Daivasura-Sampad-Vibhaga yoga (The Separateness of the Divine and Undivine contains 24 verses): Krishna identifies the human traits of the divine and the demonic natures. He counsels that to attain the supreme destination one must give up lust, anger, greed, and discern between right and wrong action by discernment through Buddhi and evidence from the scriptures !
Sraddhatraya-Vibhaga yoga (Religion by the Threefold Kinds of Faith contains 28 verses): Krishna qualifies the three divisions of faith, thoughts, deeds, and even eating habits corresponding to the three modes (gunas)!
In Aurobindo's view, Krishna was a historical figure, but his significance in the Gita is as a "symbol of the divine dealings with humanity! ''---So according to him ...Lord Krishna himself written Gita in Sanskrit !
