Pakhi's intention has always been EMA. She was just using Samrat to enter CN and stay close to Virat to rijhoo him with her qualities, beauty etc etc. This is one of the reason she compared herself as a person with higher qualities when Virat tells her he love Sai. I also think she was intentionally screaming on wedding night to get rid of Samrat so she has a free pass to Virat.

You know how I feel about it. I don’t believe that she wanted EMA. I had once written about it and I will try to see if I can find that.

To be honest, her actions were also driven by emotions. She just didn’t know what she was doing too. She just wanted to stay close to Virat, somewhere where he would be around I guess. It was a foolish thing to think of getting married to someone so as to stay close to someone she loves. I also believe that if she ever loved Virat, she wouldn’t expect him not to move on. Love means giving and feeling happy for your loved ones whether you are happy or not.

Anyway, she didn’t even know what she was doing. She kept hoping that he would stop the marriage even at the mandap. I kind of have a mixed feeling about one thing. I feel that she was high in emotions that she didn’t think of repercussions of her actions and just decided that she would get married. It was only when she walked into CN as Samrat’s wife, only when she moved into Samrat’s bedroom, sitting in his room did she even realise what she had done, what she has gotten herself into. Her trance broke. She had realised the gravity of the situation only then. I would say that was why she had even made the call to Virat and cheek cheek ke bata rahi thi happened when she couldn’t stop herself from expressing or exploding in what mess she was. She didn’t realise that marrying Samrat would mean she would be his wife, she will have to live with him as his wife in his room. She didn’t realise that there would be expectations from her as a wife, as a bahu, being wife of Samrat. That made her scream out of agony and her own madness, foolishness that she loves and can only love Virat.

None of these are to justify her actions, it is my understanding of Pakhi during her wedding and also at that moment in her room when she was hit by the reality.

She had come up to Sairat’s bedroom because she wanted to show that only she had rights on Virat. She started to get restless after Virat got married and ever since she saw Virat getting drawn to Sai. It started during the rasams where he was impressed with Sai to have convinced Kaku to have food from her hands. And then came the reception. As and when days passed by she could see Virat’s growing fondness for Sai. She just couldn’t tolerate that he would give the position that he had once given and was planning to give her for the entire lifetime to someone else. She wanted to test Virat too whether he was planning to stick to the promise or not. She wanted to keep reminding him with her presence. All she wanted was Virat to think high only of her, Virat to have feelings for only her, Virat to get impressed only with her. She wanted his attention, his support and all of these developed without her own knowledge when she started to see Sai and Virat together, when she was noticing changes in Virat, when she could see Virat giving the position that he once planned to give her to Sai.

Her coming to his room or feeding him were all so that she tries to keep his thoughts away from Sai, so that he continues to think only about her and not Sai. She just wanted him to keep her at a place which no one else can ever take.

In her jealousy, her hurt turned to agony, into anger and at the end vileness too. She had lost herself in the process. She didn’t care about anything. All the things started to affect her and disturb her to such an extent that she didn’t care about what was right and what was wrong.

The Ladakh trip again was something that was only hers and Virats. She wanted it that way, for the trip to be only hers and Virats. She just didn’t want Sai anywhere around Virat. She started to get too possessive that she wanted him to spend time only with her. Virat spending time alone with Sai kept disturbing her. Sai getting whatever she had dreamt disturbed her. She wanted time away from Sai where Virat would stop thinking or talking about Sai and spend time only with her.

Every move that she made was when she got too desperate to keep Virat away from Sai or to distract Virat’s attention from Sai. If Sai or any other girl had not been in picture, if Virat had not fallen for that girl, I don’t believe that Pakhi would have become this desperate. I think that her theory about love is an eternal one where she can love only one person in her life. Where love happens just once. I think she had thought that even after marrying Samrat, she would continue to love only Virat and not give that place to anyone else in her heart.

Just my views. This is how or what I think about Pakhi. This is not to justify any of her actions. I am obviously against her behaviour and actions. But I don’t believe that Pakhi wanted EMA. She was getting emotionally dependent on him, and her initial phone calls are the proofs for it. I think she started to crave for his attention, his support as and when time passed, as and when she realised after she got married that her decision to get married was stupid and wrong, that she wanted to change it somehow. And when he got married, she lost her senses and started to get more and more desperate.

I have a different POV about that. I think she believed that Virat was as obsessed with her as she was with him. She thought he would be single forever and have only her in his heart. I don't think she wanted an EMA but she wanted him to be around her. When you love someone just having the person around you is enough to live happily. But real life is different than any delusional world. Virat married someone else and started to give full attention to her. In the initial episodes Pakhi was delusional but she wasn't that bad. She used to be that woman who got taunted by Ashwini and got mocked by Karishma and all before becoming the favorite bahu because of their hatred for Sai. Even Sai bashed her left right center and she hardly replied or showed her bad side. So I believe she wasn't bad. Uska sar ghum gaya when she saw that suhaag raat decoration and the lipstick on his shirt. From that moment she became the psycho because she understood she has lost Virat. Her evil acts were encouraged by the Chavans so she became that woman she is now.

Really interesting take, Laksh. So, then, my question for you is this - had Samrat not left, would she have acted any differently? Or, would she have moved on in her marriage while still expecting Virat to always remain committed to her?

You have provided a really convincing analysis of her mental state. I think the part where I differ is that while you see her actions as attempts to keep Virat and Sai separated, I see her actions as attempts to get close to Virat. Do you really think that she did not expect anything to happen on the Ladhak trip?

Even after Samrat left, I don't think she wanted a physical EMA. But what she wanted will constitute emotional EMA. She wanted Virat to always be attached to her and probably be emotionally available for her. If you see, she becomes unreasonable and crazy only after Virat marries Sai. She probably imagines some great love story between them - where they will always be in each other's heats, no matter what. May be like Paro and Devdas.

An interview from the PL and ML long back said that Pakhi's state of mind is - she doesn't want anybody with Virat....even if she can't have him. This suggests that she wanted Virat to always have her in her heart. I tend to believe this interview - because I zthink this is what they have been told. And additionally, I don't think ITV will take the risk of bhabhi lusting after devar. Yes, the execution of the scenes is so bad that anyone will mistake it as Pakhi wanting full-fledged affair. That is their extra-creative brain at work.

@bolded: So had Sai not been in the picture- you think she would have behaved differently? By differently, I don't mean her delusional self that we are seeing in the present. I mean- you don't think she would have entered his room in the middle of the night? You don't think she would have tried to feed him and find other ways to get close with him? You don't think she would have gone on the Ladhak trip with him and refuted going with Mohit? I ask these questions because I am genuinely trying to understand. If all of these actions were her attempts to distance Virat and Sai, then she would have not engaged in any of them had Sai not been in the picture, right?

But, if the answers to these questions is yes... then, that means that her actions were in attempt to get close to Virat, not to keep Sai out of his heart. And, entering someone's bedroom in the middle of the night, going on a trip alone with them and asking about sightseeing/having fun together... is more than wanting to be emotionally close to them... no?

She always wanted to stay close to her one true love, to admire him from arms distance, always remain that special person to him, a person with whom she shared her inner most secrets, with whom she can spend hours talking about their day to day life. Though she did not have the intent, her motives behind marrying Samrat was obviously wrong in so many levels. She was morally wrong when she chose to marry someone in order to stay in close proximity to a person towards whom she still had unresolved romantic feelings.

She started to have an emotional affair, the moment she dreamt of marrying Virat during her own wedding with Samrat. These feelings grew stronger and she always wanted to stay close to him, think about him and craving for his shoulders to cry upon. Then slowly this turned into an obsession when she saw Virat falling for Sai. She clearly wanted to have EMA during the Ladakh trip, the way she kept insisting to pack Virat's clothes in her bag and was keen in spending some alone time with him, in such romantic location in the lap of nature. Other instances were her holi dance dreams, she trying to feed him something, thinking ways to a man's heart is through his stomach. She always wanted to get rid of Sai so that he would be free and can proceed with her wish to seduce him.

She caressing his pillow in his absence, sniffing his shirt and hugging it while crying clearly proved that her obsession crossed the threshold and it is perverse now.

She needs immediate psychiatric help.
