This thread still looks like is quite active.

I have seen that some of the posters here make statements and shy away from indulging in a healthy discussion. If one cannot defend a post and feel offended by a different opinion, it's better to not post in the main forum. The moment you chose to express and publish the same, be prepared to face bouquets as well as brickbats.

Dhakku ji... i loved your Brickbats and bouquets part!😆
Yes as you mentioned, once a post is made in a public forum it is open to discussion.
The problem crops up when people start to treat the topics opened by them as their property. The disclamiers sound more like "Tress passers not allowed".

Somewhere I think we also need to learn to accept that different people respond differently to situations. When you hold a minority view (I often feel I fall in this category)- be prepared for some folks to disagree rationally, some to mock you and others to call you names. I have so far met 1 and 2 and fortunately have not come across 3. However, I still think disclaimers do not serve any purpose and if one feels that ones PoV is not going to be accepted by the majority and will be open to debate/discussion or criticism- Isn't it best to circulate to like minded people via PMs?

Your question has your answer. Everyone's reaction is different for different situation or action. As everyone is different their choice can be different too. And our choice is to discuss fictional character but not at expense of our self respect. As you said people respond to different situations differently after seeing direct assault on different members, my solution to problem is disclaimer.

Disagreeing someone and questioning some on intelligence making snide comments are different things. But as you said you never came across any till now, you can't suggest other solution when you never faced the problem yourself (thats good I would not like anyone to go through this and its reference only) . Even if you do your solution will sound superficial because you never faced problem. If you don't have problem with mocking than I have problem with it too because its too against IF COC 13-16.

So when we can't filter 2 and 3 we chose to avoid 1 too. As probability of sane crowd is only 1/3 as to chance you will be attacked with snide remark is 2/3. Precaution is better than cure or repenting in these case.

Yes but forum is for this purpose to discuss, or to share your view because even if your view is in minority there might be many who share same thought and still not your frnd so to share with all discuss with them.

Actually forum purpose is exactly this to discuss and there is no mention anywhere it should not be like minded individual.

Preethi jee, kithe jee, long time jee ... My Sword was missing you jee 😆😆😆 ...

The moment a writer publishes it, it's no longer his/her property. It enters public domain and its fate is decide by the readers and their varied opinions. 😊

an12345678 - As I have seen its more to do with impolite comments than the disagreeing part. Sure one cannot block others from expressing their views its open public forum, but isn't it necessary to curb the reason why one or few who adding this disclaimer thing feel the need to add it.

How do you define that? And why do you write?

Because someone asked if pre-emtive major is good choice or not. I simply replied.

-Rati- The impolite comment most of time here is : "Why don't you see the character the way I see it." I see the character as near perfect and if you find imperfections, please do not voice that view as it may offend my idea of perfection.

Is that right according to you in an open forum?

Kuls: As you writer you can never put a STOP SIGN as a preemptive strategy. You just do not have that privilege, and even the most well-known writers do not have that.

Jokes apart... That is something for people to realise Dhakku. Poeple have to be open for disagreement also. The moment they see someone bashing or being too sarcastic they can report the comment. If its a healthy discussion or even a debate it would open window to many idea.s As i mentioned in my first response to this thread, Just because someone is not agreeing with you doesnot mean they are baing mean to you or bashing you. MY OPINION. I agree many a times out of fit or anger or say imbalanced hormones 😆 we become emotional and start being rude while disagreeing. That is where people should draw the line. Report and let the mod do their job. 😃
