***CHAPTER-2***
The bullet shot rang through the hall and evryone turned to see who was firing. Devraj's bodyguards covered him and he took out his own gun, but it in those 2 seconds, he saw both of his guards slumping on the floor, dead,this time shot by a silenced gun. He looked up surprised but not scared into the face of a big black guy pointing his gun at him. He was accompanied by another man of the same size. Even Devraj,who was a good 6 ft looked short in front of them.
"Max Campbell sends his regards"Said the man and pulled the trigger in his face.
Devraj ducked and rolled on the floor to catch the man by his legs. He overbalanced and fell on his face. The other guy came forward to help his partner,ready to fire, but he suddenly stopped as something hit him in the back. Devraj shot the other guy and looked up to see who had dared to help him as in this business, there were no friends. Surprisingly, a young lady stood there with a mini gun in her hand. She couldnt be called a girl even though she was very young,maybe around 20 as something in her approach was womanly.She was tall, had long black flicked hair falling into her deep black liquid eyes, a slightly dusky complexion and a hard expression. A gun in her hands looked very out of place as you could imagine them holding a wine glass only. She wore a long black dress that emphasised her perfect curves and a diamond necklace and bracelet. Coolly she replaced her gun in her designer clutch,flipped back her hair and smoothed her dress,oblivious to the stares she was attracting. Devraj was shocked to see a lady there. He stood up and searched his memory for some earlier reference which he didnt find. The lady was not even looking at him.
Just then, Samuel Wellington reached there, sweating and adjusting his fedore.
"Are you alright?"He asked Devraj, more scared for his own safety than his.
"Yes"Devraj muttered getting up and turning the dead body of his attacker over with his foot. He was moving to the other man and found that the lady had already done the job. She was bent over him, checking his pulse. She dropped his hand,a satisfied smile spreading over her dangerously lovely face.
"Nice aim, for a girl,I must say"said Devraj smiling at the lady. She looked up and replied in bored tone:"It was good for a man too"
"Maybe"Devraj offered her his hand. She took it stood up,observing him closely.
"So this young lady saved your life!"Samuel said
Devraj:"Yes...May I know your good name Miss...?"
"Naina"She replied in a chilling tone. She was the first person who reminded Devraj of his own persona. Her elegance and charm were quite impressive and she was boldly confident.
Devraj:"So I was right...You are an Indian...nice to see somebody from my birthplace here"
Naina:"I thought you could see that,humare naam ki zarurat nahi padegi"
Devraj:"Just confirming"
Samuel:"Actually Naina has just started working for us. I invited her here as I thought she can go a long way... And I was right...But trust me Devraj, I didnt send them to kill you"He was sweating again.
Devra looked at him and said:"I know you are not that foolish."
Naina:"Obviously, you wont dare to do something like this in your birthday party, would you Wellington Sir?"
Devraj:"Smart"
Naina acknowledged him with a nod. She picked up a drink from the passing waitor and quenched her thirst. Samuel left and Devraj approached her. She looked at him quizically.
Devraj:Apne aaj meri jaan bachakar mujhpar ek ehsaan kiya hai....aur Devraj par kisika ehsaan khali nahi jaata...boliye, kya lengi aap humse?"
Naina:"Humne kisi par koi ehsaan nahi kiya hai...Agar hum usey nahi maarte to wo palatkar shayad humpar goli chalata. Humari jaan se zada kimti humare liye kuch bhi nahi hai...kuch bhi nahi...isliye aap ko ise ehsaan manne ki koi zarurat nahi hai"
Devraj:"Hmmmm....smart, quick brave,and honest...khubsurat bhi...you will go a long way..."
Naina:"I know"
Devraj:"Humare liye kaam karengi aap? Kaam jo mai chahu, kimat jo aap chahe"
Naina:"Is waqt mai Wellington Sir ke liye under contract hu...2 Mahine me contarct khatam ho jayega....Tab me aapke liye kaam karungi...Naina Roy kisiko dhokha nahi deti."
Devraj:"Thik hai...to hum 2 mahine baad apse baat karenge"
Naina:"Fine...It was a pleasure meeting you Mr. Devraj..."She drifted off to Samuel who was calling her for some introductions. Devraj watched her glide away gracefully and smiled to himself. It was after a very long time...maybe the first time that a female had managed to capture and hold his attention. He knew that the girl must have something and could hypnotize any man if she wanted. This kind of person would be a big help in his next venture. But before that some tasks had to be completed.
Just then the music started and couples stormed the dance floor. Devraj was sitting at the bar with an acquaintance and was discussing something when he saw Samuel dancing with Naina. He smiled and watched her dance. Samuel noticed him watching and signalled him to join them. Surprising even himself he got off and asked Naina for a dance. She smiled slightly and took his hand. They waltzed to the soft music as Devraj stared into her eyes. He knew this scared most people off but Naina just stared back coolly. After some moments of silence, Devraj asked her
"Since when are you in New York?"
Naina:"2 years"
Devraj"Uh huh..par pehle kabhi apko kisi party me dekha nahi"
Naina:"I dont like parties...Mai Wellington Sir ke liye kaam karti hu,jiske mujhe paise milte hai...parties waqt ki barbadi hai aur kuch nahi"
Devraj:"To is party me aane ka maksad"
Naina:"I m his bodyguard tonight"
Devraj:"I should have guessed"
Then the music stopped and Naina and Devraj stopped waltzing and went to the hall where Samuel cut the cake and opened up a champagne bottle. They all celebrated and finally at 3 they took leave. Devraj had called up his guards and they came to pick him up. He was getting into his car when he saw Naina getting into Samuel's car. He got inside his own and called somebody up
"Alex....Devraj speaking...I want you to gather some information about Somebody...Naina Roy....Her past record,where she goes,whom she meets...everything,you understand...Currently working for Wellington...GoodBye."
