The two friends sat on the sea beach, looking at the sunset.
Kalpana's gaze suddenly flickered from the setting sun to Raghav, as if about to ask something, but then returned to the sea, unsure. Raghav could see that she was preoccupied. "Spit it out" not a request, not an advice, it was an order. Kalpana seemed to have no choice. "It's nothing... just...you know..." Raghav's look told her that she did not have any choice. "Raghav tell me the truth, are you still angry? You haven't really forgiven me, have you?" This was not the first time Kalpana had asked this. She was again on the verge of tears, asking the much-repeated question. Raghav stiffened, but answered coolly "Had that been true, we wouldn't have been sitting here. Nothing can ever overpower our friendship, remember that..." He cracked a smile "Anyways, I guess you really liked being called my girlfriend, that's why you never let go of the topic!" "Ha Ha Ha, Oh Very Funny..." The joke was the end of the topic.
This was a very usual scene for the two best friends. The two young adults with entirely different personalities who seemed to understand each other completely. It was always the truest friendship, without a trace of change even as they went through adolescence and into adulthood. Atleast for Kalpana this was so. But Raghav's feelings took a huge turn as the time passed by, growing into feelings a lot more intense than friendship. These intense feelings ( as many might be guessing them) were not of love, not at all near love. What Raghav felt for Kalpana was pure hatred. The girl he hated the most in the entire world was none other than the girl who had been his best friend through the ages.
