‘Reason what I am today..’: Anil Kapoor reveals being offered cameo in Dhurandhar 2, here’s why he DENIED it

The success of Dhurandhar created strong anticipation for the next chapter of the spy thriller franchise. The film, which featured an ensemble cast and high stakes storytelling, quickly became a major talking point after its release. Following its success, the makers announced the sequel, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, which stars Ranveer Singh and continues the story with even bigger expectations from audiences.

Amid the excitement around the upcoming film, veteran actor Anil Kapoor recently revealed that he had actually been approached for a brief appearance in the sequel by filmmaker Aditya Dhar. However, despite being offered the opportunity, Kapoor shared that he had to turn down the cameo because he had already committed his dates to another project.

The actor spoke about the situation during a conversation at the India Today Conclave. Reflecting on the offer and why he could not take it up, Kapoor explained, “Yes, Aditya came to me for Dhurandhar 2. He wanted me to do a small cameo in the film. But the reason I am what I am today is because of my professionalism and my commitment. That’s very important—only talent cannot make you what you are.”

Kapoor further elaborated that his decision was guided by his long standing approach to maintaining professional discipline in the industry. According to him, once he commits to a project, he ensures that he honours that commitment, regardless of other opportunities that might come along.

He continued, “At that time, I had already committed those dates to another filmmaker. I told Aditya, ‘I would have loved to do this cameo, but I’m already committed.’ He is releasing the film now, and it’s a fantastic film. It’s my loss, but it’s okay.”

Although Kapoor could not be a part of the sequel, he made it clear that there are no hard feelings and expressed hope that he would collaborate with Dhar at some point in the future. Speaking about the possibility of working together later, he said, “So yes, he did offer me the role, and hopefully we will work together in the future.”

Towards the end of the interaction, Kapoor was also asked if he might consider appearing in a potential third installment of the franchise. Responding to the question in his own style, the actor hinted that he would prefer to explore something different instead. “I think I will do something new. Kuch naya karunga (I will do something new).”

With Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge gearing up for release, expectations remain high among fans of the franchise. Even though Kapoor could not join the cast this time, his revelation about the cameo offer has added another interesting detail to the growing conversation around the film.
