That's okay Raj. I read your other comments after posting the emoticons. No yaar...not frustrated....just tired of saying the same thing over and over again....and it is not part of feminism or any such thing. Trust me, I wouldn't be where I am today without the men in my life....my hubby and my dad 😃

Looks like somewhere some one got hurt and reported. I don't know what it was but if I hurt anyone's feelings unknowingly, I apologize.

I agree and most of us understand. I hear yaa, I might be of a different level of thinking if it was not for my BIL / Bro... hope to follow the foot steps.. appreciate your inputs here. no I mean it.

hohoho. it is getting close to feminism when women demand employers hire them just because they believe they can do the job as well or as professionally as the males.😉 shouldn't people who hire and put up risk money have the say?

We are talking as if the risk money comes from only male pockets 😉
BTW, some women ar better. period.
personal eg since you and vineet gave yours- I published 3 times more publications on an average in grad school compared to all my male colleagues in same lab (4 actually) .. so why can't i say i am equal / better? If two of the guys made asst prof and i did not, i have a reason to be upset. the only reason is i am a woman of reproductive age and he is not. Hell with the risk money, when I am ay more productive as proven.

fwiw, society (composed of both men and women) defines various roles for women, from wife to mother and worker. for someone who's trying to do all three extremely well, of course it will be harder. but conversely, the woman can choose to excel at any of these three and still find personal fulfilment. what does the guy have? a societal requirement to go out hunting and get the meat ie. money and have a top-notch career. Men dont have as much luxury of being able to slip in and out of different roles, based on their ability and interest, and still find social acceptance. the stay-at-homer is sneered at, and referred to variously as an online-company founder/ day-trader/ bum. 😉 😆

somehow then, society creates a diffused focus for women. career can be shoved aside when other things become important, both good and bad for the woman. but lots of times the only way to success and good performance is single-minded focus. for some jobs, one simply cant do without that. not too many women who'd hang out for 16 hours in the workplace closing deals. sure, they may represent they would before they get hired, but invariably other things pop up. 😉 given all these potential snafus, cant exactly blame employers if they want to be careful who they hire and spend their money on, can we? 😊

fwiw, there are those other kind of women too , who will sit through 16 hours of deal? 16? some sit through 80 hours of kinetic experiments.. 😛 ..
i see your point and that is why i am on fence, but those of us who have given so much for their career, should find respect and not be bagged with the silly women who could be packed away.. Moreover, there are several men in manycompanies who get hired anyway and while they have support system working around the clock, they are chatting away to glory day and night. Some woman could pop 5 kids and be more productive than some of those.

haha, no problem if u think u are more capable. i am talking about jobs where one side or the other has a natural gift or advantage, eg. nursing. From what i know, women generally make better nurses and they do get hired in larger numbers than males. dont see too many men whining though, do we?😉

as for your experiences, i am no academic guide here, but perhaps quality counts for as much as quantity? my understanding also is that academic promotions are more political than one might think. maybe u didnt schmooze around as much as the men since you had other obligations to meet as well? (unlike the guys who probably view their jobs as the be-all and end-all of how they define themselves). so hard for me to make any assessments or provide any recommendations😉😆
