If there are job assignements involving lot of commitment, ownership, chalenging hours then males are prefered over females.

There are many factors like:

- Family commitment of females are more then males.

- Longs hours of work is not feasible for females

We talk about me are commited to family in today's world. equality and womens being at par with men counter part then

Should any work assignment be dependant on gender?

It depends on the job I guess! For example recently I visited an Investment banking company! And over there the majority of workers were men! After speaking to a couple of the workers, I came to know how they how really tough working hours...7.00am - 7.00pm! Also about once every 2 weeks workers spend the whole night in the office because the job is such which contains a tonne of deadlines! Now for a married woman...I'm not too sure her husband, in-laws would be too happy to allow her to stay out of the house all night etc! But if the husband had such working hours, no one would probably mind! And therefore till there are such mindsets about men/women, there will never be equality! And so till then work assignment will always be gender dependant!

Woahh...Okay most of that didn't even have anything to do with your main point! 😆 Sorry! But interesting topic!

In the middle east where a job requires extensive travelling to countries like Saudi, the companies explicitly ask for males in their job ads ...which i guess is ok because of the rules for women in that country

All said and done women with additional responsibilities at home are not ideal candidates for jobs with travelling, eratic work hours etc. However today we have very bright career oriented females who could take up challenges and therefore it wuld be wrong to just rule out candidates based on gender!

For the sake of argument I may say I don't agree with you! I may say intellignet rather talent is gender neutral ! I may say women are in every feild not only presnet in that field but excelling in it say the field of Space Technology, Military ,Politics ,whatnot everything! But still.......

Women may not be comfortable in some jobs! However its a choice of the employee and employer!

I myself do jobs which I'm comfortable in doing so.I choose companies which

are secure and which are in day shifts! Once in a while becuase of Project we may stay late in office but doing night shift in office is not comfortable to me. I don't think Bapu's Rajya is still realised its still a dream!!

BTW nice topic Raj ji!

depends on the family. In my family, we both share the responsibilities equally....including cooking and laundry.

- Longs hours of work is not feasible for females

again depends on the family. I have had a job that required long hours, extensive touring, and working on weekends whereas my hubby always had a 8-5 job with no touring or long hours. Needless to say, he was more involved with our girls than I was when I was at my previous job. I needed that job because of the job security and valuable experience it provided. Once my hubby joined his current govt. job and had job security, I switched my job to a relatively easier one. I still go on tours...but not that often anymore and hours are much more manageable. So, I would say it depends on what works best for your family.

No, it should not be. Men are more commited to family and helping out with household chores now then they were a generation ago....at least my man is😊

I personally feel that the choice should be left on the woman. The employer should not decide whether a particular job is better suited for a man or woman. Let the people interested in applying for that job decide that and then the employer should award the job based on merit.

hi folks,

my few cents on this topic....

it depends on an individual whether to take a job or not...if he or she feels they can do it....its their call...in my view.....time constaints , commitment does not matter much if an individual is ready to do and satisfied with the job.....as again Gauri said 'let the people decide' i second the thots 'let the people decide'

cheers

Employers should determine based upon the dedication of the employee towards "office work" what should be a person's pay or whether they should even be kept on the payroll. No matter what the gender is.

Company should hire & pay a candidate based on their qualifications, experiences they bring to the table and performance at current job. Not gender based.

well said Vineet. I agree with you. Knowledge, merit, qualifications along with dedication towards work, quality of work, and attitude are more important than gender. Whether a job is too hard for woman....let woman decide ....and let her prove that she is good at it.....no one else should make that assumption just because the candidate is a woman😊
