For the moment, I will take it as an Indian win just because no war happened but China will continue to patrol Doklam. I am sure media will move over this matter now and that gives Indian GOI time to handle the issue more sensibly privately. Issue ain't over, yet.

Future is dependent on how India handles Bhutan as they are branching out towards China economically as well. We need to find a way to rebuild our relationship with Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Maldives .

Can we just ban all these babas and all from preaching on desi tvs? 🥱

They should be, all of them irrespective of whether they preach on TV or not. If they claim to have special power, special medicine, messenger of god, etc., just put them in jail.

Demonitization- Said it before, policy failure all around, govt. data proves it. Hope , Modi fans will atleast understand what FM has presented. Should have stuck with Rajan . But doubt this will hamper Modi's political fortunes.

yeah i understand.😛 Almost the entire amount got deposited back, so the government does not get to make the windfall they thought they would. Did we understand that right?😆

now here's what you aren't understanding. 😛 The RBI now has info on money deposited in all accounts. That's valuable. The info can be mined to go after tax evaders and those with unaccounted money. Already, tax collections are higher for the year because people realize they can be under RBI scanner. That's what we need to break the the culture of tax evasion...

now let's come to policy. What was the failure policy-wise? Was it bad policy to try to take out black money by removing high denomination notes? Doesn't something like that have to be a sudden shock move? If we want to criticize, maybe we can talk about implementation, the fact that new notes were not made available sooner. But then, if new notes were printed earlier, keeping an exercise like that secret would have been hard.

yes, the govt was wrong in assuming that a lot of money would not get back into the system. They did not realize that Indians are "dheet" when it comes to corruption. But never mind, the govt can now go after them through the trail they have left behind with money in the accounts. How can one report new deposits one year, crores of it, only to show nothing next year? The only question is the will to go after these crooks, of priority given so many other problems that the sickular congress left them to deal with. Tthat's the only part we should be unsure of. But the fact that the govt has a wealth of data they can now mine and screw the cheaters with, that we should not doubt. That effectively is a win for demonetization, and is not the failure you are asserting.

why sir? India mein toh sab koi wild claims maarta hai, are you going to put everyone in jail?😆

come to think of it, even in the west, we have people make all kinds of tall claims. Heck, they can even falsify good data and present "alternative" facts. Ab trump ko hi dekh lo.😆 You also have televangelists talk about all kinds of miracles, like people walking on water, people turning to stone etc.😆 If those arent old-wifey tales, what are? Galileo was also a fanatic making tall claims till he was proved right!

by the way, there are a lot of deras/ sanghs that actually do good work much the same as good charities. You go see some of the townships, you would be amazed! They deliver services for poor and needy, for a mass of humanity, something politicians dont do. The politicians in fact commit all the crimes you can ever accuse any of these sick preachers with, WITHOUT even providing any service in return. So boss, you want to go after anyone, go after the mamta types who have kept generations of people backward and poor. They cheat, they loot, they rape, they murder, and they dont even bother to deliver! That's criminal!

@Birdie- Like your optimism, do let me know when Govt. screw people with black money with data and all that jazz that this failed policy which has reduced our GDP by 2% . Killed about 100 people. Fractured the banking system win .
16,000 Core retrieved while 21,000 were lost.

I don't even need to analyze, hyperbole here, go through statements of FM/PM then and to now. You will know what policy failure looks like,

The RBI has now finally released data to show that 99% of the notes that were demonetised last November are back with banks. This means that whoever had black money has successfully pushed their money back in the system. This is clearly a colossal failure of the policy.

Jaitley in Nov,2016 mentioned that about 15-20% of the demonetised currency, roughly Rs 3 lakh crore, was likely to get extinguished and would not return to the system. Thus it would be confiscated and become RBI property, to be eventually handed over to government for the welfare of the poor. The then attorney general Mukul Rohatgi stated this before the Supreme Court. So how can Jaitley now say the confiscation of black money was never the objective? The cash that does not return to the system stands automatically confiscated. It is like money taxed at 100%.
Also, RBI data shows that digital transactions fell 27% in April this year compared to the previous month. Major online retailers like Flipkart and others are experiencing cash transactions similar to pre-demonetisation levels when 60% of all buying was cash based.

Your point about Govt. going after the big Corporates who have put the money back in the system. Hmm, how will they do so when according to Democratic Reforms shows how 80% of all corporate money has gone to BJP in recent years. Corporates who have successfully pushed their black money into the system will now contribute 80% of it to the BJP. And as per the new law brought by the government, this need not even be made public.

To think with this fractured and reeling economy we wanted conflicts with Pak, China. Might do with some rationalism.

We were talking about fake godmen, not politicians. It's not a either or kind of situation, both criminal politicians and godmen can be put into jail.

There are lots of religious organisations which exist just for spreading religious knowledge or spirituality, that's not where the problem lies. But those religious organisations which are more of a personality cult and whose head claims to have supernatural powers, they should be jailed. We don't allow products making false claims to be sold in the market. These godmen are selling themselves making false claims, then why should that be allowed.

Godmen should be held accountable especially when they sell commodity products, acquire lands violating forest laws and also Govt. lands. These Godmen are used to convert black money into white especially by politicians just like so many Haryana state ministers gave lakhs and crores to the rapist Baba under "discretionary fund".
These Godmen in return order their following to vote their favoured politician. So if you want to eliminate corrupt politicians then you need to start with Godmen.

Has anyone bothered checking Patanjali's products and how Ramdev gets his funding? If only it was this easy to build a FMCG brand.

lol whatever happened to first amendement rights indian style? 😆

i think all religions operate on the principle that they will lead you to God. Can someone scientifically prove that their claim is true? if not, then Souro, according to you, the priest should be arrested and put in jail. Starting with the pope and the grand imam of nowhere. See how absurd that sounds?

another thing- i bet most of you have never visited any of the associated townships but go spouting the same drivel. Because if you had, you would see that they mostly serve the needs of the downtrodden and poor. There are thousands, if not tens of thousands or hundreds of thousand of people, who congregate, listen to good sermons, get a bellyful of food. A lot of people who go to these places do so not because they think the guy will lead them to heaven but because they want to listen to good sermons.

By the way, these townships run better than mumbai and kolkata and all those stupid places that cant even provide safe drinking water to their inhabitants. And no, they dont need the tax benefits to thrive. Thats icing on the cake. But its no different than all the NGOs and charities.

and lastly, it is an either/ or. You dont want to shut down some of these sanctuaries before you clean up the mess the politicians have created.

lol ab yeh dekh lo.😆 Do you have anything to accuse Ramdev with or is this the usual shoot and scoot approach on your part? Maybe you should try to do a serious study of Ramdev's accounts and give us all an update? By the way, he thrived under even your congress dispensation and he was openly opposed to them. Do you think Hooda or Sonia gandhi could not have or would not have nailed him if he was doing anything illegal?

btw, its also not easy to attract millions of followers. He could do that. Given that talent, why cant he build a brand? Most of the toothpaste brands etc are actually old Indian brands that the west ripped off and branded as their own. Why is Ramdev not capable? Tthey had also run a segment earlier that explained his busienss model. You should watch it if only to learn.😆
