CHAPTER 7
Abhay Sinha had no idea how to react to what he was seeing. He might have thought he was hallucinating due to a sleepless night if not for Simmi who had grasped his arm with the same confusion in her eyes. Neither of them knew what to make of this.
He had barely slept the previous night. He had thought that it was necessary that Swadheenta and Adarsh talk to each other but seeing their faces last night he wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do. He had dropped Swadheenta till her room worried for her. He had known she wouldn't tell him anything and he hadn't asked. Though they were genuinely fond of each other, they had never got a chance to know each other that well . He tried calling Asad but Asad hadn't answered. He had probably fallen asleep.
He thought of checking on his brother and asking him what had happened between him and Swadheenta. But he found Aman in his own room near Simmi who was fast asleep. Aman told him that Bade papa had told him to go to sleep and that he himself had a very bad headache and was going to sleep. Abhay understood that Adarsh was clearly not in a mood to talk and let him be. He had put Aman to sleep but had barely slept himself. He was worried if he had made things worse. He always made decisions in a haste and sometimes the results were disastrous.
He had been scared to face his brother. He could take anger and scolding but he didn't want to see his brother more hurt because of him. In the morning he had seen Simmi and Aman come from his brother's room. He hadn't told Simmi anything. He had been relieved when Simmi told him Adarsh was fine but a little sad which she attributed to the wedding. He had then told her everything. She had assured him that whatever happened was for the best but he knew that she was only trying to make him feel better. He was about to talk to Adarsh when he got a call from his mom.
A month ago he had shown his mother Karan ' s wedding card. She was shocked when he had suggested that Adarsh should go to the wedding. But he had convinced her it was necessary.
"Mom, ho sakta hai Swadheenta move on kar chuki ho. But bhai ka kya? Unhe bhi toh aage badna hai. Saare feelings apne dil mein daba rakha hai. Dormant volcano jaisa. Bahut dangerous hai yeh unke liye. Agar wahaan jaayenge toh ek baar mein sab kuch khatam hoga. Un sab baaton ko shaayad dil se nikaal denge. He will feel better mom. " He had told her. She wasn't very confident about it but he had convinced her.
"Bas umeed karti hoon ki tum uss volcano ko samhaal paaoge. Kahin lene ke dene na pad jaaye ." Mom had told him in the end.
He hadn't been able to handle things and there was no point in not telling her. The lawyer and mother that she was, she wouldn't be fooled. So he told her about the events of the previous night. She was tensed and had scolded him. She had informed him that they would reach the resort soon and would talk to Adarsh herself. He could say she was worried and angry. He had informed Simmi about the same.
A few minutes later they had noticed that Aman wasn't in the room. He had been asking Simmi to take him to the snack bar for some time and they thought he must have gone to Adarsh since they were busy talking. That was very much like him but Simmi was worried as it was a new place and she had in a haste opened the door to Adarsh ' s room without bothering to knock.
And now they both stood rooted not knowing how to react. Simmi looked at Adarsh and Swadheenta wondering what to do. They both looked shocked and confused. Looking at them Simmi could say it wasn't meant to be a goodbye hug. They had reconciled. But not what. Were they going to elope, she thought. No one seemed to break the silence. So she herself took a step forward smiling. But before she could utter a word Swadheenta rushed out of the room crying. Adarsh stood where he was like a statue. Reflexively she and Abhay ran behind Swadheenta.
Swadheenta ran as fast as she could. She could hear Simmi and Abhay calling her name. They were coming after her worried for her. But right now she was in no condition to talk. She couldn't believe what had transpired between Adarsh and her a few minutes ago. She was about to kiss him. She was in his arms. Thank god it was Abhay and Simmi who had seen them. It could have been anyone. Her relatives, Karan ' s relatives and friends , all were at the resort. Anyone could have seen them.
'Hold on. I am only worried that we could been seen? I should be angry at what we were about to do.' She told herself. She was with her ex boyfriend hours before her marriage. Wow. But Adarsh wasn't just her boyfriend, he was her love, some part of her being shouted at her. Lost love, she reminded herself. Why was she faltering? It was her decision to marry Karan. She got into the lift and came to the ground floor. She ran towards her room and heard someone call her. Appa.
She shouldn't have stopped but she had. Appa came over to her. She barely heard what he was saying. Excusing herself of being tired she left the place as she saw the rest of her family come over. Abhay and Simmi were probably still coming behind her and Appa might see them. But she wasn't in a condition to deal with any of it right now. Giving Asad a sharp look she ran towards her room.
Abhay and Simmi were coming down the stairs. They had missed the elevator and they had realised that Aman wasn't around either. He hadn't been in Adarsh ' s room. Abhay had told her to go to Swadheenta while he looked for Aman. Still calling Swadheenta they reached the ground floor and saw her Appa standing in front of them.
Abhay was confused. Swadheenta ' s Appa was the last person he wanted to see right now. He was a good man and loved his daughter but he was short tempered and impatient. He tried to smile at the man.
But Mr Ramakrishnan returned the smile with a frown "Abhay Sinha? Simmi Sinha? Tum log yahaan? " He asked. Before they could answer Haider uncle took over. But Mr Ramakrishnan was in no mood to listen. He continued " Nahin Haider. Kuch mat kaho. Aap logon ne inhe yahaan aane kaise diya? " . Looking at Abhay and Simmi he shouted " Kya problem hai tumhari? Kyun aaye yahaan ? "
" Mr Ramakrishnan " Abhay heard someone call. He knew the voice too well. MOM.
He saw his parents walk towards them . His mother gave him an angry look and said to Appa "Mr Ramakrishnan, we are here only to wish Swadheenta a happy married life. "
Before Suhasini Sinha could utter another word Appa shouted " Happiness? Aap log meri beti ki khushi ki hissa banoge? Aap log. ..jinke wajah se uska dil toota. Aapka beta Adarsh. Khud toh khushi khushi jee raha hoga. Meri beti ki khushiyan bar baad kar diya Aapke uss bete ko..."
Before he could complete Suhasini interfered "Aap mere bacchon se iss tarah baat nahin kar sakte ho. Humse bohot badi galti hui thi Lekin uska yeh matlab nahin ki aap Adarsh ke baare mein kuch bhi kahen. "
Abhay looked at them irritated. Could this day get any worse? Aman was missing, Swadheenta and Adarsh bhai were in a very bad state and worst. ..Ramakrishnan uncle and mom were both in battle mode. The last time there was a Sinhas vs Ramakrishnan battle Swadheenta and Adarsh bhai had ended up fighting with each other. The last thing needed right now was another fight between the. Abhay ccouldn't help blame himself for all that was happening. He just wanted to stop the impending battle but had no idea how to.
"Papa "he heard Aman call and saw his son coming towards them. Simmi ran to him and pulled him into a hug asking where he had been.
" Aman? " Appa uttered confused.
And to everyone's shock Aman went to him and held his hand.
"Wow. Aap toh sach mein great ho uncle. Aapne Mumma Papa ko doond liya? Aur Daadu Dadi ko bhi. "He said innocently and then told his confused family that when he had heard his father tell his mother that Daadu Dadi were arriving he had left the room alone excited to see them. But he had lost his away. Appa and Amma had seen him there and had promised him that they would find his parents soon and they had.
The elders stared at each other for a moment. Then Suhasini thanked Mr Ramakrishnan for helping her grandson. Mr Ramakrishnan too perhaps not wanting to fight in frontof the child was silent. Abhay heard the Gillanis explain to him that they were Karan ' s guests. He left the place without another word, followed by his wife and the Gillanis who greeted the Sinhas with a smile. Abhay gave his son a tight hug. He had stopped a battle. After his parents left with Aman, Abhay told Asad what they had seen.
"Aap dono Bhaiyya se baat karo. Mujhe Swadheenta se milna hai. " Simmi told the guys.
She went to Swadheenta ' s room and found her sitting on a chair crying. Seeing her Swadheenta quickly wiped her tears.
" Its ok Swadheenta "Simmi said putting an arm around her.
"No Simmi. It was a mistake. My life is messed up but everything will be ok once the wedding takes place. " Swadheenta said picking up her bridal lehenga.
Simmi took it from her and made her sit.
" Swadheenta yaad hai tum ne mujhse kaha tha ki jab aur koi raasta nahin hota hai toh sach hi kaam aata hai? Aaj tum khud se jhoot bol rahi ho jab tum confused ho? " She asked.
" Koi jhoot nahin bol rahi hoon. Yehi sahi hai. " Swadheenta said.
"Toh mujhe face kyun nahin kar rahi ho. Tum aur main dono jaante hai ki tum sirf Bhaiyya se pyaar karti ho. Phir bhi? Tumhe pata hai unki kya haalat thi jab tum chali gayi thi? Par tab toh kam se kam dil ki kisi kone mein umeed thi ki tum unke paas laut aaogi. Pata nahin ab kya hoga. Main jaanti hoon tumhare mann mein bhi yahi umeed thi.par aaj woh bhi khatam ho jaayega. Swadheenta, tum mujhse kahin zyaada mature aur intelligent ho. Tumhe advice karne ka haq nahin hai mujhe
. Tumhe behen maanti hoon Isliye kah rahi hoon. Kabhi kabhi apne khushi ke baare mein pehle sochna galat nahin hota kyunki wohi un logon ke liye bhi accha hota hai jinke liye tum yeh sab kar rahi ho. Please yeh shaadi mat karo

Swadheenta looked at Simmi not knowing what to do. Her heart wanted to listen to Simmi. At the same time her Amma came in. Without looking at Simmi Amma said "Beta tumhari tayaar hone ka time ho gaya. "
On the other hand Abhay and Asad faced the same with Adarsh . They entered the room and heard Adarsh booking tickets to Delhi. He informed them he was leaving in a few minutes.
" Bhai aap aise jaa nahin sakte hain. Swadheenta ko aap hamesha ke liye kho denge. Yeh aapki last chance hai. Do something. " Abhay pleaded.
" Kya karoon? Uski shaadi hai aaj. Maine bahut late kar diya. " Adarsh said packing his bags.
" Bhai, shaadi hui nahin hai. Aap agar chale gaye toh zindagi bar aap dono regret karenge " Asad told him.
" Regret. Woh toh saalon se kar rahaan hoon. Waise Chottu accha kiya tu ne mujhe yahaan laakar. Uss se sorry bolne ka maukka mil gaya. I feel better. " Adarsh said.
" Bhai aap aise bhaag nahin sakte ho. Pyaar kabhi simple nahin hota. Log apne pyaar ko kho dene ke dar se kya kuch nahin karte hain. SSimmi ko khone ke dar main mom ke khilaf gaya. Asad Radhika ke liye jhaaku leke uske ghar mein guss gaya use bhagaane
aur aap. Yaad hai? Aapne Swadheenta ke liye dance seekha tha sirf 12 days mein. Toh aaj kyun bhaag rahe ho? " Abhay asked getting in his way.
" kyunki woh haalaat alag the. Teri problem Mom thi. Asad ki problem Radhika ki family aur mere liye hum dono ki families. Par hum saath the. Aaj apni story ke villain hum khud hai. " Adarsh said and left.
Abhay and Asad stood there watching him leave as Simmi entered the room. They looked at each other with a look of understanding. This was the end.
