CHAPTER 9

Mr Ramakrishnan marched angrily across the room. How could his daughter be this foolish? She was throwing away everything for him. She had forgiven him. Love was making her blind. He wouldn't let her do it again. His wife stood watching him a little away.

Revathi had always stood with her husband in every decision of his. She had let him make the decisions. But today she had to speak up.

"Aap meri baat ek baar suniye na. Hamari beti ki khushi agar Adarsh hai toh use kyun rok rahe hain? " She asked.

Her husband stared at her and replied " Toh aap uske Bachpane mein saath dena chahti hai. Kya aap bhi sab bhool gayi. "

She took her husband's hand and led him to a chair. She sat near him and said

" Nahin bhool sakti hoon. Par yeh bhi nahin bhool sakti ki puri zindagi maine apni Swadheenta ko uss waqt se zyaada khush kabhi nahin dekha. Main jaanti hoon aap uske liye best chahte ho par hum yeh decisions akele nahin le sakte hain. Swadheenta ki life hai. Main jaanti hoon aap use protect karna chahte ho Lekin ho sakta hai iss shaadi se use aur problems ho. Main nahin jaanti hoon ki Adarsh aur Swadheenta ka future kaisa hoga par Karan ke saath kaisa hoga yeh bhi toh nahin jaante hain hum. Swadheenta badi ho gayi hai. Ab uske faislon ke zimedari uski hai. Agar galat faisla legi toh khud pachthayegi. She is very mature. Woh samhaal legi. "She explained.

Ramakrishnan looked at his wife for one long moment and walked out of the room.

Swadheenta looked around nervously. Maamu Maami had gone to apologise to Karan ' s family. She felt guilty. But it was the right thing to do. She felt him hold her hand trying to calm her down.

" Back to the part of getting our parents' permission. We did it once. We will do it again. " Adarsh said smiling.

" Sirf Swadheenta ke parents ka? Yaad bhi hai Adarsh ki tumhare parents bhi yahaan hai. " Suhasini asked.

" Mom. Mujhe laga aap khush hogi. " Adarsh replied shocked.

" Of course I am happy. Lekin uska matlab yeh nahin ki jo hua woh sahi hai. Agar yehi chaahte the tum log toh aise last moment tak chup kyun the. Yeh koi khel hai Kya? Aaj tum logon ki wajah se dono families ko kitni embarrassment sahni padi. This is so childish. " Suhasini chided.

" Sorry mom. " Adarsh said.

" Chhodiye na mom. Bhai aur Swadheenta finally saath hai. Thats what matters. " Abhay said.

" Aur Karan ki family ka kya? Unhe kitna takleef hua hoga? " Suhasini asked Abhay.

" Don't worry aunty. " Karan said coming back to the venue " Haider uncle aur maine unhe samjha diya hai. They are not angry par thode sad the Isliye chale gaye. "

"I'm sorry Karan. I didn't mean to hurt you. " Swadheenta said .

" Don't worry yaar. Dost hai hum. Aur Waise bhi pata toh tha mujhe aisa hi kuch hoga. Tumhari kismat ek duje se judi hai. " Karan said.

" Accha saara credit kismat ko. Tum bhi Karan? Tum toh jaante ho maine aur Abhay bhai ne kitna kam kiya. " Asad said.

" Kya? " Swadarsh asked together.

Abhay smiled and replied " Haan. Aadhi Credit meri aur Asad ki hai. Humne bahut planning ki thi. "

Seeing everyone's confusion Abhay went on.

"Bhai aap ke promise ke wajah se maine Asad se milne ki koshish nahin ki. Par 2-3 mahine pehle Radhika station aayi thi kisi kaam se aur hum log baat karne lage. Maine use bataaya ki main Asad se milne kyun nahin gaya. Theek do hafte baad Radhika ne mujhe call kiya aur kaha ki use mujhse milna hai. Wahaan gaya toh Asad mere saamne khada tha. "

"Ghar pe jhoot bol ke gaya tha ki Radhika bimar hai. Abhay bhai ne mujhe bataaya ki Adarsh bhai Freedom ko bahut miss karte hain aur guilt mein jee rahe hain. Maine unhe bataaya ki Freedom bhi sirf sab ke khushi ke khaatir ye shaadi kar rahi hai. Hum logon ko laga ki inhe ek chance toh dena chahiye ek doosre ko. Par yeh dono aasaani se maanenge nahin. Isliye humein itni saari planning karni padi. " Asad continued.

" By chance Karan mera school friend tha. Classmates the hum par kuch khaas close nahin the aur uske Delhi se jaane ki baat toh we weren't even in touch. Asad aur main Karan se mile aur Swadheenta aur Bhai ke baare mein bataaya use. Karan Swadheenta ke liye bahot care karta hai. Isliye maan gaya ki agar shaadi se pehle Swadheenta ne bhai ke paas lautne ka decision liya toh woh use jaane dega aur agar Swadheenta ne faisla nahin badla toh woh uss se shaadi karega. Phir maine Karan ko ghar dinner pe bulaaya aur keh diya sab ko ki hum acche dost hai. Do saal pehle mil phir se and all. Finally bhai ko mana liya shaadi attend karne ke liye. " Abhay said taking a deep breath.

" Aur aap logon ne yahaan bhi Humse bahut kuch karaaya. Pehle sangeet pe ek doosre ko avoid kiya. Maine itni mushkil se Adarsh bhai ko roka wahaan. Phir bhi kuch nahin hua. Phir raat ko aap logon ko beach mein milaana. .. so much hard work. " Asad said.

Everyone looked at them surprised.

" Thanks guys. You are the best brothers in the world. " Swadheenta said with tears of joy giving them a hug.

" Woh toh hai par tum logon ne last moment tak wait kyun kiya. Agar main late ho jaata ya Swadheenta decision nahin badalti toh kya hota? " Adarsh asked.

" Woh aap apne bhai se poochhna. " Asad said.

" Bhai kabhi kabhi ek jolt zaroori hota hai. Aur aap dono ka toh puraani aadat hai yeh last minute confession. Isliye Socha ek jatka de dete hain. " Abhay explained with a crooked grin.

" Accha Chottu. Main tujhe deta hoon jolt. " Adarsh whispered hugging Abhay. Then he asked Simmi

"Yeh Chottu ne sahi nahin kiya na Simmi? I mean Radhika ko Asad ne sab kuch bataaya aur iss Abhay ne tumse sab kuch chupaaya. Very rude. "

"Haan Bhaiyya. " Simmi said and angrily turned to Abhay "Baby yeh bahut galat kiya tum ne. Tum mujhe trust nahin karte. Mujhe tumhe chhod kar Papa ke ghar chale jaana chahiye. Aman ko lekar. "

Everyone broke out laughing except Abhay.

Everyone was laughing when the Ramakrishnans arrived. Everyone fell silent.

" Appa. .." Swadheenta started running to him.

" Kuch mat kaho Swadheenta. Main aur tumhari Amma sirf tumhe khush dekhna chahte hai. Isliye main tumhe nahin rokoonga. Tumhare parents hone ke farz nibhayenge hum. Par main Adarsh pe dobara vishwas nahin kar sakta. Abhi nahin. Par jab tum dono ko khush dekhoonga toh shaayad waqt ke saath sab theek ho jaayega. " Appa said.

Swadheenta looked at her Amma who nodded.

" Guru ji, sorry. Main aap ka vishwas dobara jeet loonga. Jald hi. " Adarsh promised.

Appa smiled and greeted the Sinhas.

" Hum aaj hi inki shaadi kara dete hain na? " Manohar suggested.

Adarsh winked at Swadheenta who blushed.

" Haan. Par shaadi Bihari customs se hogi ya South Indian custom se? " Suhasini asked.

Adarsh and Swadheenta looked at each other making tired faces.

" Mom, bas inki shaadi kara do. Bechare bahut thake hue hain. Agar aur drama hua toh mujhe inhe bhagaana padega. " Abhay said jokingly.

" Chup. Mera Adarsh aisa kuch nahin karega. Par tum sahi keh rahe ho. Inhe aur pareshan nahin karenge. " Suhasini said laughing.

They all headed to the mandap after a few minutes. After a long wait finally their dreams were going to come true. Adarsh made Swadheenta wear the mangalsutra and filled her hairline with sindoor. They smiled at each other. Now they were tied to each other forever.

After that they took blessings from the elders. That night Suhasini and Manohar left for Delhi to arrange for a reception for the newlyweds while Swadarsh along with Abhay Simmi and Aman went to Chennai for the party there.

********(Two days later )*****

Swadheenta had been looking out of the window of the car for a long time. After 5 long years she was back in the city where she had lived the best part of her life. This was her home. Here she had learned to dream. The air blowing on her face made her smile.

"Mrs Swadheenta Adarsh Sinha " She heard her husband call. She had to get used to that. She looked at him smiling at her.

"Hum paanch minute mein ghar pahunch jaayenge Bhabhi " Abhay said.

" Tum dono bhai yon ko yeh lagta hai ki main apni ghar ki raasta bhool gayi hoon?" She asked.

Adarsh smiled. This was the girl he had fallen in love with and now she was his forever.

A few minutes later they were standing in front of Sinha house. Jaya and Jaidev stood at the entrance. As they got out of the car Jayacame forward hholding her little girl. Aman at once wanted to play with his sister. Giving the child to Simmi Jaya hugged Swadheenta.

"Finally tum ghar aa gayi. We were waiting for you a long time . Ab mere devar ka jaan wapas aaya hai. " She said.

Jaidev remained where he was trying not to look at Swadheenta. Swadheenta seeing this went to him.

" Hi Bhaiyya. " She said.

" I am sorry Swadheenta. Ho sake toh maaf kar do. Bhaiyya kehti ho tum mujhe but I don't deserve it. Main toh Abhay aur Adarsh ke liye bhi accha bhai nahin ban paaya. Sorry. " He said with tears.

" Jaidev Bhaiyya. Maine aapko bhi hamesha bhai hi maana hai. Aur Bhai behen se maafi nahin maangte. Sab bhool jaayiye. At least mere aur Adarsh ke liye. " She said. Smiling she continued " apni beti se nahin milaayenge uski chachi ko. Do dinon se Aman se bahut sunn rahi hoon uski behen ke baare mein. "

"Mil lena grahpravesh ke baad. Puri zindagi yahin toh rahnewali ho. " Suhasini said bringing the aarti .

He did the aarti and Swadheenta stepped into the threshold of Sinha house with Adarsh by her side. Their dream had come true. The only girl who had crossed the Dahleez of Adarsh Sinha ' s heart had finally stepped into his house. His forever.
