Karisma Kapoor denies reports claiming she sought a share in ex-husband Sunjay Kapur’s legacy

Karisma Kapoor is not involved in any discussions or disputes around her former husband Sunjay Kapur’s estate, sources close to the Kapur family have clarified. The actress, who was married to the late industrialist from 2003 to 2016, is reportedly not seeking any share of his estimated Rs 30,000 crore assets.

After Sunjay Kapur’s sudden passing due to a cardiac arrest on 12 June, speculation around his massive inheritance has been circulating widely. As the Chairman of the $3.6 billion Sona Comstar Group, his death has led to legal and familial uncertainty, with several internal voices emerging over who stands to inherit the estate.

Accordind to TOI, Insiders have denied any suggestion that Karisma is laying claim to the inheritance. “Karisma Kapoor is not involved in any inheritance or property-related matters,” a family source said. “She has no claim, nor is she seeking one. Her only concern is the future and well-being of her children.”

Karisma and Sunjay share two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan, who are legally entitled to their father's assets. The same source confirmed, “The children will receive what is due to them. Karisma’s focus remains entirely on them.”

The clarification comes amid growing tension within the Kapur family. In a public statement made ahead of Sona Comstar’s annual general meeting, Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur claimed she holds a majority stake in the company and is the rightful legal heir. She also alleged that certain individuals were attempting to wrest control of the family’s legacy, though she did not name anyone directly.

Sunjay Kapur, who had previously been married to designer Nandita Mahtani before tying the knot with Karisma, maintained a relatively private life in recent years. While his marriage to Karisma once made headlines, the two have kept separate lives post-divorce, Karisma focusing on raising her children and occasionally returning to the screen.

This latest update puts an end to the speculation linking her to the inheritance battle, even as the family dispute over the massive estate continues.
