Story so far

Vishakha and Dev got up from the couch between the huge rounds of applause that everybody was giving them. Radhika hugged Vishakha and said 'Badhaii ho Vishakha!!! Main tumhare liye bahut khush hoon!!'

Then she looked at Dev over Vishakha's shoulders and saw Dev still staring at her. She extended her hand and said 'Congratulations Dev!!!'

Dev looked at her extended hand and took it, squeezed it hard, and with serious expressions said 'thanx'. It almost hurt Radhika. Dev realized that he was hurting Radhika and relaxed his grip and let her hand go. People started coming to congratulate the newly engaged couple.

Radhika went from there to tend to the guests and to get her mind off the engagement and most importantly, her mind off Dev.

Part 13

Radhika made sure that every body was well taken care off. She tried looking over at the new couple. But she sensed that Dev knew exactly where she was. The party began.

There was soft music playing in the background. The couples took the dance floor for a waltz.

Sunil Malhotra danced with Mrinalini. Vivek with Suman and the other couples joined in.

Suddenly Radhika heard someone say 'Radhika can I have a dance with you, please?'

Radhika turned and saw a handsome young man bow before her with arms extended and smile on his lips.

R: 'Aree.Keshav ji, Aap?' Radhika gave a genuine smile.

K: 'Haan main!!!'

Keshav was the legal advisor of Malhotra Industries. Radhika knew him very well since he often came to MH to discuss legal issues with chachaji.

He made it a point that when ever he came to MH, he talked to Radhika. Radhika respected Keshav a lot.

K: 'Radhika!!! Will you dance with me?'

R: 'Well!!! I can not dance!!! I have never danced in my life before.'

K: 'Well don't worry!!! Just follow my lead.'

Keshav took Radhika's left arm and placed it over his left shoulder, took her right arm in his and put his right arm over the small of her back and swirled her. Radhika gave out a small giggle and followed Keshav's lead.

Dev was talking to some people but was witnessing the interaction between Radhika and Keshav from across the hall. Now he could not control his rage and started towards where Radhika and Keshav were dancing.

But he had to overcome lot of hurdles in the form of people. Every person he passed was stopping him and wanting to congratulate him.

'Congratulations Dev!!!', 'Welcome to the club Dev.!!!'

Dev's eyes were all on Keshav and Radhika dancing far across the hall. He just nodded at the people who were interrupting him and talking to him. He was not hearing a single word that they were saying.

All he wanted to was to be near HER.

K: 'Aap accha naach leti hain, Radhika!!! Muzhe dar lag raha hai.'

R: 'Kyoun, Keshav ji?' Radhika looked at him surprised.

K: 'I am afraid, that if you step on my foot with that heel of yours, my foot will hurt pretty bad.' Keshav grinned at her.

Radhika smiled at him genuenly.

R: 'Keshav ji!! Ab aap muzhe nervous kar rahe hai!!!'

K: 'Oh No!!! I was trying to make you comfortable. But I guess sab ulta ho gaya.'

Both Radhika and Keshav were laughing at this joke.

Dev was fuming with jelousy. She can dance with him, but not once talk to me. She can laugh at his jokes but not as much as smile at me. She can be sooo close to HIM but finds the first excuse to be as far as possible from ME. I won't stand it any more.

Dev tapped at Keshav's shoulder.

D: 'May I steal a dance from the lady?'

Keshav and Radhika looked at Dev, who was almost pulling Radhika into his arms.

K: 'Yes Dev and Congratulations!!!'

Dev did not even respond, but just nodded.

Keshav left from there.

D: 'Shall WE dance?'

R: 'Well, Dev, I can't dance.'

D: (furious and challanging) 'You seemed to do pretty fine with HIM.'

He almost pulled Radhika so that her body crashed against his.

Radhika was confused at Dev's behaviour. She was looking at Dev, when Dev changed his expressions from serious to casual one.

Radhika looked here and there when she heard Dev say 'Searching for some one?'

R: 'Ahha, haan'

D: (his expressions again turned dangerous) 'Radhika meri company Keshav jitni interesting na sahi par itni boring bhi nahi.'

Radhika was looking for Vishakha so she did not understand what Dev ment to say at first. Then the meaning of the sentence dawned upon her and she was going to say something when Dev continued 'Aaj meri sagaii hui hai aur tumne muzhe koi present nahi diya. Main sirf ek dance chahata hoon, as a present. And I want you to concentrate when you are dancing with me and not insult me by hunting for your previous partner.'

R:(she was hurt by his comment) : 'I am not hunting for Keshav ji, Dev!!! Aap muzhe galat samazh rahen hain.'

D: 'Main theek samazh raha hoon, Radhika'

R: 'I am looking for Vishakha' (Radhika found herself explaining herself. She did not want Dev to think that anything was going between her and Keshav as implied by him)

Dev instantly relaxed.

D: 'Vishakha hogi yehi'

R: 'I think Dev, you have not danced with your fience as yet. You owe her a dance.'

Radhika spotted Vishakha. She was taking on her cell phone and was quite animated about it. Radhika smiled at Vishakha and Vishakha in turn signaled a 'hi'

D: 'Good to know that you have kept an eye on me, by the way you owe me a dance Radhika!!'

R: 'What?'

D: 'Ya my engagement present, you see.'

R: 'Well then I should owe you and Vishakha both a present.'

D: 'I don't mind you dancing with Vishakha also.' Dev teased her and was grinning now.

Chachaji interrupted them and said 'Can I dance with this lady, young man?'

Radhika was relieved by chachaji's intruption.She smiled and sened Dev's reluctance to let her go. But eventually he did let her go.

Radhika danced with chachaji and later excused herself to see the dinner arrangements.

Most of the guests were already in the queue for the buffet. The guests used the garden for the dinner.

She looked at Vishakha and Dev dance but felt that it was as if they were deeply engrossed in some deep talk. Dev had a serious expression on his face. He smiled at her the moment his eyes met hers. He KNEW exactly where she was.

'Aap hume company nahi dengi?'

Radhika saw Keshav holding two plates one for him and handed over the second plate to her.

R: 'Nahi Keshav ji abhi muzhe mehmano ka khayaal rakhna hain. Par aap shuru kijeeye' she handed over the plate to the waiter.

K: 'I am not asking you to have dinner but just to accompany me. We can sit and you and talk.'

Radhika glanced at Dev who had not spotted Keshav approach her. She was bothered that Dev mistook hers and Keshav's friendship.

But Keshav insisted and she could not say no.

They both went towards the swing and sat on it.

K: 'It was a lovely ceremony and a beautiful party.'

R: 'It was wasn't it?'

K: 'They make a good couple.'

R: 'Ya'.

She looked at Dev and Vishakha who were still deep in conversation, but now had stopped dancing. Vishakha was smiling now and Dev also looked relaxed.

Radhika returned her gaze back to the guests.

K: 'So the wedding is in twenty days. So it is going to be hectic.'

R: 'Yes, very hectic. There is very less time for any preperatios, you see and the wedding will not be held in MH. It was easy to make arrangements here but the wedding will be very different. '

K: 'You look extremely beautiful today, Radhika'

Radhika was surprised but just smiled and said 'thanks'

K: 'What are your plans about marriage?'

Radhika was startled by Keshav's sudden question.

'Yes Radhika? What ARE your plans about marriage?'

Both Radhika and Keshav were forced to look at the voice that retirorated the question.

Dev was standing with dangerous expressions on his face and hands folded over his chest.

Radhika had a feeling that Dev would have punched Keshav if he hadn't had his hands folded.

R: 'Dev!!'

D: 'Yes Radhika!!! Tell me AND Keshav here, what are your marriage plans?'

R: (Tried to change the subject and escape) 'Why don't you and Vishakha also start on with you dinner, Dev?'

D: 'Later'. It was more of an order for Radhika not to leave from there.

Radhika just stayed put.

D: 'And yes Keshav!!! Radhika indeed looks very beautiful today!!! ' Dev was now glaring at Radhika.

Radhika was dumb struck. Dev had heard THAT. If Dev's eyes were daggers, she would have died by now.

K: 'Yes, may be even the most beautiful woman in the room.' Radhika prayed to kanha that Keshav should stop talking, now.

D: 'Really? ' Dev roared.

K: (Keshav stammered and said) 'Well obviously after Vishakha.'

Radhika did not like HER being the topic of discussion between the two men and she wanted to just leave from there when Dev caught her arm to hold her at place and mocked looked at her and said 'You know Keshav, after you say it, I must agree that Radhika IS the most beautiful woman in the room and you know what, I think I should marry her instead.'

Both Radhika and Keshav were stunned by Dev's statement.
