Story so far

R: (instinctively said) 'Dev please!!! Mera haath chodiye.'

Radhika was almost pleading. Dev slowey let go of her hand.

Radhika almost ran to her room and closed the door. Her her heart was racing. Suddenly the joy which was filled in her heart was replaced with a strange type of heaviness. She was surprised at her self. Tears started rolling down her cheeks and she could not understand the reason for her sudden sadness.

Part 12

MH was decorated with flowers. Everybody was busy for the last minute preparations for the engagement.

Radhika was busy helping Vishakha to get ready. She had not slept even for a second the previous night.

Vishakha was wearing the traditional red sharara and was looking not less than a bride.

She was decked up in red rubies. Her neckless was beautiful with matching earrings and bangles which was a present from her dadima. She was wearing her hair in a French bun and has a matching ruby tika on her forehead.

Radhika checked on Vishakha for the nth time and said 'Bahut sundar lag rahi ho Vishakha'.

V:'Thanks'

R: 'Accha ab main bhi ja kar tayyar ho jati hoon'

V: 'Ya, ok but jaldi aana.'

Radhika went to her room and mechanically got ready. She selected a lemon yellow sharara and matching but simple jewellary to wear. She selected pearls- Pearl chocker, pearl bangles and earrings and a pearl tikka on her forehead. She decided to leave her hair open with a butterfly clip holding her hair from over her temples. She also had mehnidi on her hands similar to what Vishakha had. With her right palm showing a 'dulha' and her left palm showing a shy 'dulhan in ghoonghat'. Vishakha said both of us will have the same mehndi design.

She rushed to Vishakha's room.

Vishakha looked visibly happy and Radhika smiled at her and hugged her.

Suddenly the door opened and they say Mrinalini enter.

M :'Bhut khoobsurat lag rahi ho Vishakha'

V: 'Thanks aunty.'

M: 'Nahi Vishakha aaj se tum mujhe 'ma' keh kar pukarna, jis tarah se Dev bulata hai. Aaj se tum officially meri adhi bahu to ban hi jaogi'

Mrinalini was elited.

V: 'Yes 'ma'' and Vishakha hugged Mrinalini.

Mrinalini turned towards Radhika and said 'Radhika tum Viskahka ko neeche le kar chalo, sab intajaar kar rahe hai'.

Radhika smiled and nodded.

Daadima also came inside the room and looked at Vishakha. She kissed her fore head and said 'Aaj agar Brij jinda hota to bahut khush hota.'

This made Radhika sad. Mrinalini took dadima by her hand and says, chaliye dadima, niche chalet hain.

Radhika looks at Vishakha and says 'Ready Vishakha, chale?'

Vishakha nodded.

Radhika held Vishkha by her shoulders and they both climed down the stairs to go to the living room where everybody along with DEV was waiting for Vishakha, this thought made Radhika want to cry, but she swallowed hard and put a smile on her lips.

Dev was wearing a cream jardosi sherwaani and was looking very handsome. He was nervous about the whole thing, engagement and all. Suddenly he looked up the stairs and saw Radhika walk down the stairs. She was looking beautiful. He had not seen her the entire day. He had tried. He had gone to her room a couple of times under the pretenseof some work, but had not found her there. She was with Vishakha, helping her out. Dev could not take his eyes off her. Suddenly his nervousness died out. She had a faint smile on her lips and she was saying something in Vishakha's ears.

VISHAKHA!!! It was then that Dev noticed her. Vishakha was looking at Dev and smilling. Dev smiled back. He was going to get engaged to her that evening. The thought of it brought back all the nervousness.

He looked back at Radhika and found himself at peace again.

Sunil Malhotra welcomed the guest and instructed to begin the ceremony.

Vishakha and Dev were sitting on a couch. Radhika was standing besides Vishakha.

Vishakha put the engagement ring on Dev's ring finger and everybody clapped.

Dev looked straight at Radhika and saw her clapping. Dev had to try really hard to control the rage building up inside him. It was his turn to put the engagement ring on Vishakha. She held her hand out. Dev took her hand and looked at Radhika.

Radhika looked down. He slid the ring over Vishakha's ring finger. Everybody clapped. Radhika looked up and found Dev still staring at her. She clapped too but she could not deny the pang of pains that she was experiencing. She fought back the tears that were threatening to come out.

Vishakha and Dev got up from the couch between the huge rounds of applause that everybody was giving them. Radhika hugged Vishakha and said 'Badhaii ho Vishakha!!! Main tumhare liye bahut khush hoon!!'

Then she looked at Dev over Vishakha's shoulders and saw Dev still staring at her. She extended her hand and said 'Congratulations Dev!!!'

Dev looked at her extended hand and took it, squeezed it hard, and with serious expressions said 'thanx'. It almost hurt Radhika. Dev realized that he was hurting Radhika and relaxed his grip and let her hand go. People started coming to congratulate the newly engaged couple.

Radhika went from there to tend to the guests and to get her mind off the engagement and most importantly, her mind off Dev.
