Chapter 1
There was a peaceful silence now resting in his heart. As the blood oozed out from god knows how many wounds, he thought about the ecstatic peace he would feel, when he will finally be able to see her from the skies above. He again laughed sadistically as he wondered what a stupid thing it was. His conscience reminded him that she won't be here; it wouldn't maybe affect her even. How could it even affect her, when she didn't know what he felt for her, or even knew that he was in this condition? But he was adamant. Either she has to come, or he'll die. "Rehaan! Allah!! What have you done to yourself!!?" my mother shrieked. "Call the doctor!!" my mother went outside yelling everybody to catch some attention in the lonely hills of Afghanistan. But I drifted out of my consciousness, in her dreams.

The only feeling I felt after I woke up was of nausea. I knew its reason very well too. The Hospital tubes had always made me agonize to the sick. But my heart never came out to them. Until she entered my life, like sunshine in the winters, bringing loads of love, a rare aspect in my life.
I waited for the night to fall. And as I noticed everybody was fast asleep, I sneaked out of my ward and began glancing at the negativity I had around me. Either people were ill, or were well-wishers. Generally doctors, I suppose, heal for the people's benefit and that is what makes them a well wisher, sometimes even a savior for a large population. Soon I exited the hospital. A cool breeze welcomed me. Her smell wavered in my alien surroundings. I kept walking, without the sense of a direction, but with the strong presence of my beloved.

Our meet was never a filmy one, where the hero and the heroine suddenly met at the college or banged at the mela. It was, I couldn't say realistic, but pretty much obvious. Our houses were quite close to each other, an empty field separated them. She seemed to be living earlier than me; she knew every nook and corner of that place. As I forcibly shifted there, outcaste by the villagers as my mother had left my father, a drunkard, I was not at all excited by the events taking place. And probably when I was frustrated, that was the time when I noticed her. She was grazing her sheep on those grassy hills. Whistling a Bollywood tune, she wandered like a dervish, her eyes searching for the sight that could rest her heart. She noticed me and asked, "You new here?"
"Yeah... It has been a day or two"
"Oh. I can see there is not much for you to do here, no friends and all"
"But I was never used to friends, only my Ammi..." I replied, clearly upset due to my Mom's absence.
"Does she work in the city?"
"Yeah, and leaves me alone with some lunch."
"You won't be alone now on. I will give you company" She said in a chivalrous tone.
"So Friends?"
"Sure friends!"
She forwarded her hand next. I was utterly confused. I gave her a blank expression and she gave me an exasperated look.
"What??"
"Don't you watch Bollywood movies?"
"Very rarely..." I lied to her. I couldn't possibly tell her that I always have been so poor that I wasn't able to afford it.
"In movies, whenever the heroine and the hero become friends they shake hands. We are also friends now. Shouldn't we too shake hands then? Yes, we should. Come on! Let's do it!" She said, sounding like delivering an encouraging lecture.
"Umm, Okay..." I said tentatively and shook hands with her.
Her hands were the softest I have ever touched, almost heavenly, with an airy touch to them. I turned my head up from her hands to her face. She was brightly fair and has the most beautiful face I had ever seen. She then tried to withdrew her hand. I didn't realize that she was beginning to feel uncomfortable and that I had been shaking hands with her for so long.
"Ummm, My hand..."
"Oh yes, I am sorry..."
She just sighed and began walking her destined path. She was very pretty, but wait a second... I didn't know her name!
"Hey!! What's your name??"
"I was waiting for you to ask that, but your name first."
"Okay, I am Rehaan"
She turned around, such that her back was now facing me. Twisting her head she gave me a dazzling smile, as if she expected to hear that.
"And I am Kaia"
With this, she proceeded towards a building, probably looking like her home. I too, went back, as I saw my mother at a distance, waving to me.
