KGF 1 when released, could only gross an odd 45 cr at box office. After it came on satellite & OTT, it started getting more & more crazier. Hype for KGF 2 was generated by KGF 1 only. The same was the case with Bahubali 1 & how it pumped hype for Bahubali 2.

I would love to see if any film that isn't part 2 of another successful film becomes the highest grosser, like the Khans do with their films.

my point is records will be broken, making lakhs with movies in rajesh khanna's time was a record, then AB broke those and crores became a benchmark, then khans came, tomorrow somebody or something else will come and make those records

whether actors will do it, sequels or pan india (multi language) films is a moot point.

maybe it also shows that stars cant make records anymore, content can

directors can, just as in hollywood, avatar and james cameron will break the box office, who even knows the actors in that film

It is out there in media and Aamir's own interviews. He has been crying and low key in interviews as well talking about Ira's mental health and his worry for impact of divorce on Azad. And guilt he feels for not being there for family and especially his kids when they were in growing years and affected by his first divorce with Reena. He blames himself for divorce with both wives. He is in one of his lowest phases as of now. And sort of blamed his being busy in own work in post RDB phase for his personal life suffering. It was his own interviews mentioning this before LSC release.

Yesterday I saw an Aamir Khan interview video in which someone asked him about why he didn't salute on KBC. I really felt bad for him as I haven't seen Aamir like this, ever. I really hope that all this won't affect him deeply & that he can just gather himself and comeback strongly.

Who knows someday a newbie can break records the way Maine Pyar Kiya, made by newbie Sooraj Barjatya, starring newbies Salman and Bhagyashree broke all records in 1989 when superstars like Amitabh were giving underperformers like Toofan, Jaadugar, Akayla and he had only success of Shehanshah in 1988 to save face?

No one could think dubbed films like Bahubali, Pushpa, KGF could do so well until a few years ago.

Aamir should have never remade FG. Completely unnecessary. Comparisons are inevitable. He set himself up for failure. Classics should be left untouched.

I saw LSC. I liked it. But zero mass appeal. So this failure isn’t surprising!

Other actors can get over a flop and come back stronger. But Aamir takes 5 years to make a movie. SRK took and break after Zero and has filmed 3 movies in the last 2-3 years or so.

The boycott for LSC was also real. On the ground level. My parents have watched every Aamir movie on the big screen including secret superstar but they refused to go for LSC. I convinced my cousin to come with me.

My dad has been staring hundreds of Anti-Aamir posts on WhatsApp for a few weeks now. The boycott against Aamir is extremely real.

At this point, I think, he is the most hated actor in the world. The negativity against him on SM and the ground level is shocking!

It’s not surprising because he has been extremely vocal politically. SRK and Salman wisely keep their mouth shut.

Plus Aamir doesn’t have the raw stardom and fanbase that SRK and Salman have. Neutral fans used to watch his movies and now they are ones who dislike him. My family for example.

I don’t know what’s in store for Aamir. If he is going to retire or something. But if he is planning to continue acting, he needs to come back with a massy entertainer. That will be only thing that can help him.

same for QSQT or darr

Salman wasn't some upcoming actor, he was Superstar by then giving back to back 6 hits till 1991.

Srk isn't last superstar, it is Hrithik Roshan.

He seems quite shocked by hate against him online despite his apologies and I guess failure of LSC this badly, will push him further into his shell. I believe he is also worried about impact of himself on his kids' future. Lest his son and daughter get into trouble or get hate due to hate a section of people have for him. Ira gets trolled a lot on Insta for merely being his daughter.

I bet after Aryan Khan case everyone is worried about impact of their stature or their haters on their kids' future.

Half this nepo debate is also encouraged to target growing kids of 90s stars. Wait and watch how Junaid, Aryan, Suhana, Ibrahim get targeted. It will be same as Sara also dragged in fake drug case.

I suspect Aamir will focus on his kids and filmmaking now. Behind the camera more than his own stardom as an actor. His cousin Mansoor had also quit films at peak in early 2000s, his nephew Imran also quit films. Shifting lanes is not new for their family...

Though I hope I am proven wrong and we get to see more of Aamir as an actor and more records like Dangal even if he plays a dad.

Actually I agree with most of your post but, LSC would have underperformed even if there was no boycott call. I have to be honest about it. The screenplay is choppy and film seemed to jump from one thing to another. It is also a sad film and rather tragic to see in post pandemic times with that kind of end and all those deaths.

However I do agree that hate for Aamir whipped up by right wing is real and so is sheer hate for Kareena.

There are bazillion posts on every damn site and app against them and even conspiracy theories, fake allegations and false statements attributed to them. At some places there were actually vigilante outfits attacking theatres to stop screening this film or holding loudspeakers to urge Hindus to boycott this film as they claimed Aamir and Kareena were anti Hindu and anti national.

There are 70K posts on FB alone with #BoycottLalSinghChadha hashtag. Anti AK, anti Bebo posts on Whatsapp, Twitter, Quora, Reddit, Medium, Signal, YouTube etc.

That is why I said Khans need to do damage control for image makeover as well and control misinformation spread against them online.

Aamir has tried to appease BJP by showing Modi and Swach Bharat posters close up in LSC and skipping 2002 Gujarat riots in the film. And also including Pak bashing by showing Pakistani character bashing his own country and preachers and not taking bodies of own soldiers either or training or radicalising youth with malaria of communalism. Or showing Atal and Advani at Vir chakra ceremony while Indira and Rajiv are shown only for oppressing Sikhs in 1984.

Still BJP IT cell has been merciless and relentless in attacking him and this film.

Aamir at 51 did Dangal which was the ATG. Same w Salman 51/52 did Sultan and TZH (not ATG but huge grossers/hits) Even SRK at 47 did CE. ( ATG)

That’s historic for actors that old I think. Some one said can they have a 2nd inning similar to big B and I said let their first inning end 😆 obviously now it has ended I suppose.

Aamir/SRK/Salman can do films where they are 2nd leads or web series or even still do more lead roles. As long as they self finance 😆

As for these conversations that a portion of country doesn’t like them anymore. I don’t know the politics but I just hope it’s not true.

Nowadays religion, army and anything about the nation has become a sensitive subject. Even more so for Aamir, who has been a vocal critic against the ruling party.

I agree LSC would have been a disaster anyway. But the boycott also played some part. The boycott worked because the movie was not appealing to masse anyway.

But even more than the movie’s failure, it’s the raw hate and venom against Aamir is what is shocking! Not just on SM. The way my family talks about him now makes me so uncomfortable.

Aamir has lost that neutral fanbase that loved him and watched his movies! His image, at this point, seems irreparable! I don’t know what he is going to do to fix it. He needs to focus on that more than the movie’s failure. Because they will do it again whenever he comes back with another movie!
