My pick would be Sameer. Why? Because I love him- simple as that! Even if I think he didn’t take a stand for me , neither did I for him and went to the extreme of marrying someone else even. Both of us deserve a second chance with each other! 😭

He mingled with nandinis family and got along well with all of them

There is no reason why her dad would reject him…ofcourse it was merely his ego and not “him knowing better” that caused nandini to marry vanraj

Also disagree vanraj was husband material compared to sameer …sameer was pretty good husband material too…he wasn’t some unstable kabir Singh type drug addict 😂 the guy was just fun loving and flirty but never misbehaved and was monogamous throughout

I think we never got the chance to see much of Sameer's love for Nandini. We see how they fall in love and just how much Nandini pines for him afterwards and we also see up to what lengths Vanraj goes to find Sameer for her. With those two "grand" gestures of love constantly in our faces, we never see Sameer's side of the story. With whatever they do show of him in Italy, one can only assume that he either gave up without a fight or was still pining for her but not enough to do much about it.

I thought Sameer was waiting for Nandini’s reply to his letters? The letter which she received only after it was too late? Isn’t it how She and Vanraj ended up in Italy in the first place?

Sameer didn't lack depth . He lacked brains.. I mean he went away leaving Nandini without a fight and was yet somehow sure she will come to him because "his baba" was more powerful than "her baba"

He didn't pause to this k what if Nandini did something to herself.. what if Nandini is forcefully married to an abusive guy like her cousin?

He did fight in his own way. He wrote many letters and waited for her replies before leaving India. He waited for her to reach out to him so they can elope or take a decision. But those letters were hidden by the servant as Nandini was on verge of marrying someone else. Because he didn't get any response to his letters, he waited and left the country.

So he wasn't stupid or idiotic. He fulfilled his promise to her dad and also fulfilled his promise to Nandini by waiting for her right after he was ousted and even after leaving India.

I'm relying on my own memory of the movie and Sameer's love just isn't registered well there. 😆 It could be cuz those post-marriage scenes were too traumatizing to watch and Sameer didn't really figure in anywhere there.

I mean, how did he not know that Nandini attempted suicide or that she was married to someone else? Poor guy is SHOCKED at the end. How was he able to go about his day in Italy not knowing Nandini's condition back home for months?! How did he not find a way to go back there to check on Nandini, especially after not hearing anything back on all those letters? Did that not worry him? He was a man who grew up overseas and with a lot of freedom to do as he pleased but Nandini was a naive girl in that mansion, tied down by her ultra-conservative family and her megalomanic father for the most part. Sameer didn't have those chains around him and yet, we see Nandini with her newly married husband, trying to hunt him down in Europe. Meanwhile, we see Sameer mourning the breakup and attending concerts to distract himself.

I mean, with the way he went AWOL after Tadap Tadap, he wouldn't have known even if Nandini had actually died after that suicide attempt. I fail to see the depth in his love for all these reasons ... it wasn't very action-oriented.

OMG. Now that you put it that way, boy! He was too childish and irresponsible to leave her to her own devices like that. I think he trusted her dad too much and never imagined that he would go against his daughter’s will like that. His upbringing is also to be blamed I guess, where such things are unimaginable. He probably was waiting for Nandini’s letter that her dad was now willing to give him a chance or some such thing. I think Sameer is either too simple minded or naive but I cannot doubt his love for her. From the audience pov though, I don’t think there were many eyes which ended the movie with clear eyes despite Salman’s terrible acting in that last scene.😳 I toh was literally bawling and I couldn’t care less if Nandini went back to Vanraj or jumped off from that bridge. 😆

You're definitely not alone there, I was BAWLING my eyes out and more! 😆 Firstly, during Tadap Tadap ... when Nandini is helplessly looking at Sameer from the balcony to say goodbye one last time.. and then at the end.

I felt for Sameer at the end and I held a MASSIVE grudge against Nandini's father the whole time. I hated how his decision was glorified at the end. More than Nandini ending up with Vanraj, I was pissed about the audience taking home a big fat "TOLD YOU SO" from Nandini's idiotic father. 🤣

I don't think he even knew she tried to commit suicide. That is something probably he didn't expect her to opt for. Probably after he never got a reply from Nandini after all those letters he wrote, he must have assumed she chose her father over him and decided that was it for her (considering India and their values). I think that's the assumption he went for and decided to leave.

Exactly! So MASSIVE a grudge that years later in Tum Bin the poor actor was sitting in the wheelchair totally disabled and what not but I couldn’t trust him till the end. 😆 I think all our impressionable minds just got too scarred by Nandini’s father. Haven’t met many who didn’t hate him. 😆

That’s why I said he was too naive to not consider all the possibilities, especially after seeing her cousin go through the hell right before his own eyes. Him leaving to the other side of the world was definitely a plot hole which I guess the director had to go with just so that he could take the story to the next chapter.
