I don't understand why Dev gets questioned for being jobless in the movie. He had to take care of their kid because Rhea was busy 24/7 in her career. She gave priority to her job over her family. If that's her choice then Dev too has a choice if he wants to work or not. Why only women are supposed to have a choice on whether they want to work or not? Men too have the same rights.

Not incapable. Its okayish for them individually...they might've had individual studios or something. But as a family NYC is damn expensive. Every parent wants to give their child a good upbringing. So more then Dev, Rhea did it for the entire family.

And I applaud her for that.. But I don't consider it as an excuse for not being for her husband emotionally when he needed it

Let's reverse the situation.. If Rhea was a housewife and Dev was working, would I consider it alright if Dev wasn't there for Rhea when she needed it? No..

Marriage is all about being there for each other and making time despite professional commitments..

Because even grown-ass educated men hesitate in accepting they need help.. Isn't that what mental health and help is all about?

True, being the breadwinner of the family doesn't give a person some special privileges.

Rhea and Rishi were happy ,outgoing and fun people who had a very different attitude towards life as compared to Dev and Maya. You can also see that in the end Rhea was happy being a mother and maybe drifting towards another relationship but it was motherhood that she chose at that point and was happy about it. Rishi moved on , fell in love and was getting to be happily married.

Both Dev and Maya were extremely flawed and had deep insecurities. They never made the effort to communicate to their respective partners because they thought they could not understand them without even trying. They never tried to be happy and with each other found a kindred spirit of revelling in that victimhood.

Dev on his leg and career and Maya never really loved Rishi more as a childhood friend and she went ahead with the marriage to keep Rishi's father happy. Also her not able to become a mother ,her perspective on that was never fully shown was she okay to not be one or was that a problem with her.

The marriage would have lasted but unless both underwent therapy they would not have been very happy because both of them had very strong insecurities and issues.

Ofc you need to be there for your spouse..but he was nothing but an arrogant jerk. Dev was the kind of guy you would try and reason with but he would keep on fighting and insulting you until you'd break down. Then you'd try and keep him happy by providing everything u can, he would make it look like you are acting superior. There would be no conclusion with a guy like Dev. He would make you feel like shit no matter what you did for him and blame it all on you.
