I think the affair itself showed that they were together in every way even before they showed the scene. I agree with you that it has to do with showing that Maya was in love with Dev and not Rishi but there were definitely other ways of doing it...imo just implying it wouldn't have made it feel so 'wrong' if ukwim. But the actual love making scene kinda ruined the romance. But then again, personally for me SRK is more suited for intense romance and not explicit scenes.

I thought it was shocking but I'm glad it was there. Adults who cheat and are used to having sex aren't just going to settle for chaste kisses on the cheek. It's natural that they would sleep together. It was also an indication that Maya wasn't really frigid or asexual in general. Her behavior was specific to Rishi because she just didn't like him that way and didn't have a complete life with him.

Real people make mistakes and do bad things sometimes. They shouldn't cheat of course but the reality is that some do. If KJo had reduced some of the candy floss nature of the film, it was actually really well-written and not the kind of thing you see coming out of BW. You rarely see such flawed main characters who all make mistakes and do bad things but are not seen as villains who are completely irredeemable.

I know it was natural and I got the intent too.. bit it got too much focus which actually overshadowed the actual plot and characterization of the movie..

No way. How is implying any different from actually showing it? The cheating part is the only thing that made the movie intolerable for me and it would’ve been the same whether they actually have shown the scene or implied it.

I am not advocating cheating. But the entire movie uptil the cheating scene didn't make me feel eeky...I could still tolerate it. The actual scene made me a bit sick.

Honestly me too when I first watched the movie. But I later realized that the scene was very important as it gave us a deeper look into Maya's lack of a mature connection with Rishi. She liked him but only as a friend and never could enjoy a sexual relationship with him, but she has that connection with Dev and opened up to him, quite literally 😆

Honestly in the long run Rishi would've been a better choice. If u recall their first rain scene when Dev and Maya are discussing to save their marriages. Dev has a piece of gum and discards the wrapper. Maya asks him to pick it but he acts like a typical male...then she picks it like a housewife.

Thats what she'd end up doing all her life...clean up after him, sort his shit, take his anger.

Coz like Rhea said in the last scene "itni choti sazaa? Dev ke saath rehkar toh dekho"

Maya is a school teacher, ab tak toh covid hogaya hoga, and since it's been a while, she's old, so high risk = probably dead. Dev is a widow now. The end.

All I have to say is KANK is my favourite movie of all times. I can watch a few scenes daily from it.🤗🤗🤗🤗 Especially because of Rani and SRK. I still listen to the songs almost daily and loved the acting of Rani, SRK, Preity and Abhishek.

I think Dev and Maya would be together until now and they would have improved themselves and acccepted each other as the way they're.
