They loved each other

Maya had a regular 9 to 5 job of a school teacher. She wasn't an extremely successful career woman like Rhea, so she couldn't make Dev feel insecure like Rhea did. Maya also is not that bold compared to Rhea and will be okay with Dev taking out unreasonable anger on her sometimes. Dev too definitely had a job by the end of the movie otherwise he couldn't have supported himself for 3 years after getting separated from Rhea. He also seemed more mature after living in solitude for 3 years. He was shown treating people nicely in the title song.

Maya's only reason for being unhappy in her marriage with Rishi was that she wasn't in love with him. She fell in love with Dev. We never understood why and how but this is what happened and it's her choice so can't question it.

So yes, I think this couple can work out in the long run, and have a happily ever after.

Its really hard to understand Dev unless you have been into similar situation.

Dev as a character needed counselling.. Not everyone can live crippled and losing out on his dreams.. he needed help and seeing his wife fulfilling her dreams when he couldn't fueled his insecurities.. Of course that doesn't give him the freedom to be mean to everyone or cheat but he needed help and support coping with his loss

I understand Rhea was too busy since she had too much on her plate but his mother could have at least tried to make a difference.. But then that's too much expectation from a KJo movie😆

I hope they both rot together forever. They deserve an unhappy life of togetherness, stewing in their own sin and guilt!

Honestly both are right and wrong in this scene. Dev toh hai hi a resentful a$$hole, but Rhea is also a b!tch for calling herself the man of the house. A woman can be the breadwinner of the family without insulting her husband's manhood.

I think both don't understand each other at all and hence end up hurting one another. They are emotionally incompatible.

I think it would have been better if they didn't cheat, separated to see if the marriage would work out or not and then decide to date whoever they wanted.

Lol no.. Dev was a misogynistic a-hole and would have treated maya terribly and maya would have left his sorry ass too

Of course. And that’s the whole problem with the movie or the plot itself is supposed to be like that -A cheaters haven!

Actually I don't get why people hate the movie so.

There is a chance they would survive cause the reason that tore their marriage was cause the personalities and wants from their life and of their spouses were different. They could withstand each other's nonsense.

(i.e: Maya is shown carrying Dev's bag and she seems happy doing it. They met to talk and discuss things. Dev didn't pressurize her or push himself on her for sex or intimacy till it seemed she equally wanted it as well)

I felt it actually portrayed flawed characters with vices like how normal people in real life are.

Dev's injury made him a resentful, jealous and insecure man and generally he was a short-tempered and impatient man. It was wrong of him to treat Rhea and his son the way he did but I do agree that Rhea too at times wasn't sympathetic towards his misery or insecurities. I think they lacked communication. Both had egos not willing to let go. Even Dev's mother told Rhea she has gone ahead and left Dev behind which she replies why is it a woman always told to sacrifice and be on par with the man. I guess she chose career over her marriage. One had to give in or the marriage was bound to fall apart.

As for Maya, everyone says that Rishi loved and her and did everything to keep the romance alive. But Maya did not feel sexually attracted to him and I don't blame her. Its not something she could have control. They were friends and didn't give dating a go neither were they sexually active before marriage I presume so she discovered all this after marriage. Like she told Dev what if she finds love after marriage. She kinda 'settled' for Rishi without truly loving him passionately. Many marriages fail due to a couple's sex life being unfulfilled. Rishi should have given her space to figure herself out too. Did Rishi think maybe she was asexual or other possibilities.
