challenges are diff for everyone..may be for a katrina a kahani be challenging..but may be for Vidya a TZH be a huge challenge (she herself has said how she tried and realized she totally sucks in commercial cinema)

but why can't they all be together and speak about various challenges and how and what they consider and look out for..it be an interesting and contrasting set of ideas..i would take interest in that for sure..

we really tend to underestimate commercial actors..and this is very judgemental to assume that she should not feel excited over the roles she does..

@bold: I didn't know that we could not judge actors but members here can judge us for our opinion. Interesting.

I am not underestimating what commercial cinema does and is. I know how some actors can't fit commercial roles. But what commercial "actors" do is not acting. It is a performance yes, but it's more about looking good, dancing well, just fascinating people through appearances. That is one kind of cinema but it is not acting.

I wrote in my post that I am criticising Kat for saying how as an actor she gets excited by good roles and stuff when she does not act in fact. after watching some really good performances, you cannot go to any of her performance and say that it is acting and good at that. NONE.

She could not sit in good faith at such a roundtable and genuinely talk about acting and craft and stuff. She could however, definitely sit at a Superstar roundtable and speak about the "ting" part of movies, in Swara's style lol. KJo could host that one.

but this roundtable barely discussed acting

so how would she struggle to sit in good faith

it was mostly about women and the issues women face..and katrina being a woman would have been totally fine..as for the 10 min they discussed acting out of a total of 1hr19min..she could have managed that much

KJo had asked 6-8 others for Fawad's role and they all rejected it.
Hardly any actor would have done Ayushman's role in Shubh Mangal. I think Bhumi mentioned it also..
As for Akshay, Padman is glorifying him. The movie is about him. He's certainly the "hero", which is why he's doing the movie. Women's issue, man is the only one on the initial posters. Says quite a bit.
Anything not "manly" is not something majority of today's leading men will even consider.

Exactly! This @red
It's not about the issue. It's about the man. Again it's a do-gooder, hero type role.

A mainstream hero doing erectile dysfunction wala role
Or playing gay character takes so much more courage.

Or playing a pansy character like atul Kulkarni in natarang

Or sadashiv amrapurkar in Sadak

Or Upendra limaye in Jogwa.

These are the roles which ppl may say challenge a man's masculinity.

Kudos to these men!
And I agree with Bhumi. I doubt Vd, Arjun or even Ranveer would play the role of a man with erectile dysfunction in near future.

Idk why Bhoomi wouldn't like Swara, she's so much more real, intelligent & well-educated!! And a highly talented actress! Maybe she's threatened by her. Bloomi so wants to be a glamour-puss but doesn't really have that in her.

Bhumi went on and on about her family and DLKH.
it becomes boring after a while 😆

Swara was fabulous. And way stronger than Bhumi. Bhumi does seem slightly threatened in the video.

Maybe a little bit but the gay aspect was the bigger issue.

Meh!
90 minutes and what a waste. Nothing insightful was discussed. Sounded like GAS/ Globe.

Loved the conversation. I appreciate the topics taken up for the discussion, It shows the changing time where the actresses are not embarrassed or afraid anymore to talk about issues pertaining to women and patriarchy.
Bhoomi seems to have lived a very protected and sheltered life.I didn't like her constant harping on the same fact, she came across as insensitive knowing what Swara and Zaira went through. But she seems rational and have seen the reality through her work. She still has a long way to go.
I liked Swara but she talks so fast, it was difficult to comprehend in some places. She is fiery and mufat. She called out her own movie Ranjhana which was accused of glorifying stalking .Bhoomi kept a straight face while she was talking about it, her own movie "TEPK" too was accused of the same.

Ratna Pathak being the oldest, she brought to the table considerable wisdom and experience. Vidya Balan is a sweetheart. Always love listening to her. She oozes so much warmth in her speech.
Zaira is so mature for her age. She did came across as arrogant in some places, like when she made a face when Ratna was giving her advice. But I understand her silence she being reserved and socially awkward.

Also kudos to them for appreciating Ayushman Khurana for taking up complex, sensitive roles.
