Wonderful. I saw it in one go last night.
Loved every one, except maybe Zaira. She sounds entitled and quite condescending since her solo ivs with masand and anupama.

Bhumi was a little odd, constantly going in about her family. We get it. You're from here and have a safe environment.

Swara is sooo strong . #loveher

And ratna ma'am is my new favorite speaker.
Vidya will always rule these tables. Her third appearance 😃

I think we should really cut Zaira some slack. I know she is in the public eye now and a celebrity and with the controversies all around her but even if you forget everything for a second, she is still a 17 year old teenager. And teenagers are like this-moody, disinterested and having starry airs. I see so many teenagers like her even in my family and around me. I'm pretty sure many of use were too the same during our teens when we thought we should be the rebel and the whole world revolves around us. 😆

I think what's more important to see is the maturity in her thoughts. You can't fake it and prepare your answers in a discussion unlike an interview. Atleast that is a positive sign for the future of Bollywood. People like Zaira are the future and if they are so sorted right now, I'm pretty sure they are not going to start off as these clueless delusional divas in the industry when they grow up.

Also loved what Vidya and Bhoomi said about Ayushmann Khurana. He would probably be the only one who could've taken up Shubh Mangal Savdhaan and let the actress also shine and have a role to play in overcoming his problem in the film unlike a crusader of all things bad that's happening to women around like the other actors. The only other actor who I think would take this up would be Rajkummar Rao.
And hence it makes me really happy when actors like them get the adulation they deserve. Both Ayushmann and Rajkummar Rao are the future stars of Bollywood and that is how an actor should be- ready to be even a part of a great movie revolving around an actress and choosing the less meatier part like Queen or even doing multiple starrer films despite knowing your supporting actor will take all the accolades like Bareily Ki Barfi.

I find them very secure as actors and none of the other male actors come close to them when it comes to the choice of scripts- neither misogynistic nor exclusive. I mean even a film like Newton that revolved around the male lead had such an important character in the dalit woman who played a big role in changing Newton's opinion!

We need more actors like him- who think like today's generation and portray the same on screen!

Just finished watching. What an enriching conversation! I'd say this is the best and most convincing RT rajeev has ever conducted. So out of the box and a good job by RM to just let them be and let the convo flow and not ask too many random questions. Fabulous camaraderie between the participants and the exchanges were so heartfelt. They all spoke about the excruciating process of being constantly judged and also about breaking barriers and stereotypes. They talked about the sexist nature of b/w and reinforcing how heroines evolved dramatically while heros are largely one dimensional. In fact they were reiterating that women get to play varied characters with many facets and complexities while men are stuck in one mould 😆.

Ratna is the show stealer here. Classy and a great conversationalist, imparted a great deal of wisdom to others from her own experiences. She advised them to keep a sense of perspective about what they are doing.

Vidhya as always was so sweet while expressing herself. She even mentioned about the scathing body-shaming comment targeted at her by a journalist recently and her reply to him was "that's no more my concern and only you people have to change the way you look at women esp actresses" 👍🏼

Swara was devastatingly real. Yes, she was trying to 'do a anushka' here 😆 but she is a strong conversationalist with great expression and thoughts. She was brazen about her personal experiences and how actresses are perceived in work atmosphere and outside world.

Zaira as usual unabashed and too matured for her age . She articulates her thoughts well.

Bhumi is also outspoken and talked about body-shaming and the stereotypes that exist in the industry. She took a dig at judwa 2, but her own film glorified stalking 😆.

Overall a very good watch, I'd strongly recommend. Props to rajeev for bringing such thinking, fine, evolved actors together for RT. He could have added Seema pahwa - this year's revelation, in the mix. 😛

I love Ayushman Khurana & R Rao so I am so glad to see they are being praised well! I truly do believe that AK is the best young actor. The. BEST. On par with RK & currently doing far better work than him!! I watch most AK films. Super-talented & so under-rated! <3

Agree about Ayushman kurana here. Infact I like his acting prowess more than his musical prowess.😆 Unfortunately many underrate his potential. He is surefooted and very secured about his position in the industry. As a person, he is endearing and well-mannered.

He had said earlier in an interview that he was the one who suggested Rao for the role. He also agreed rao's role was more author-backed than his and he knew rao would walk away with the accolades and also said RR took the film to a new level. Such high praises for a coactor shows how he feels secured and confident of himself. His script choices are unique and interesting. One should see subh mangal saavdhan to believe how his choice is 'daring' too.

^^I watched it, very nice film & he was the best part. Bhoomi & him look so good together & their chemistry is really nice too. Ya I've just loved AK in all his roles! I think he's highly, highly talented. I don't think he's as good as a singer, lol, but as an actor? Definitely. I can only wish he scales higher heights because tbh, he completely deserves it, far more than this Dhawan-Tiger or even RS ilk!!! He's also quite charming onscreen! I just realised this when I watched SMS & BKB. Sushant, who some call his competitor, completely lacks onscreen presence & charm & what's funny is that you would look at SSR & think he would've the charm & presence, and then when you watch AK onscreen it's he who surprises!

Okay, Bhumi, we got it you are not a behan ji, you belong to a cool, educated, liberal, well off family. What Bhumi said here over and over in this chat show, Vidya has been saying the same in almost every interview of her since the casting couch and nepotism discussion started. She has been playing the elitist card whenever she's asked the casting couch question - Since I'm from a well off family I never had to face CC... I never compromised blah blah. When the same was repeated again and again in this chat show Ratna had to bring in Silk Smitha to put a stop to that elitist crap. You should look at Vidya's face when Ratna took Silk's name... Vidya certainly didn't like it.
Another thing about Bhumi, she looked down upon Swara at the beginning of the discussion, later she had to warm up to Swara since others appreciated Swara and at one point Swara and Ratna dominated the discussion.

I don't understand the extreme reaction this little girl Zaira gets. Either people support her blindly, or they bash her without any reason. She was fine in this show. Probably a bit intimidated by the seniors. Only thing that could offend some people was her finding the fan culture creepy. Doesn't matter whether you feel offended or not, but it is true fan culture is creepy.

Ratna and Vidya were fab. Swara was on weed!!
One thing I do feel during every round table is, it is not necessary to keep all discussions centered around the men. There can certainly be more questions about the characters, acting etc..
