I feel the end product was not what Rahul Dhoalkia conceptualized.

a) He's a national award winner director, not a commercial bollywood one.
b) The teaser, SRK's statements at the time wanting to do more realistic cinema.

These two things make me believe that they set out to make a hard hitting story on the gangsters life but at the some point the plan changed, probably due to Fan's Box office & Excel's recent outings, and it turned into a commercial Potboiler.

When you make a commercial potboiler, you cannot show communal riots. So, as far as I'm concerned the end product isn't anywhere close to the reality of Abdul Latif, probably just started as such and is more Ram Jaane 2.

That day is not far when we'll have a film glorifying Laden 😆
They'll show how Bush torchered him and his family & poor children which is why he blew up the WTC 😆 Or even better, was framed by the US Govt itself 😆
He'll be shown celebrating Christmas & hindu festivals. And the makers will say that it is based on some random "fictional character" 🤪
Hakla Khan or Criminal Khan will play the lead role & people will watch the film just because they look "hot" 😆
And hola, we'll have people sympathyzing with the great Osama Bin Laden 🤣

On the topic: Not watched Raees & not planning to watch it either. Cannot tolerate a film which glorifies a dreaded gangster who killed innocent people. India me real heroes ki koi kami nahi hai.
But unfortunately films on people who are going to receive Padma Shri this time wont earn 200 crores na

Movie makers did not mention it as a biography of any person. (Neerja, Dhoni, Phogat sisters). So it should be fine. (Or, is Sharukh's name Latif in the movie? )
