The film is expected to go on floors in mid-March.
Dilwale actor Varun Sharma is all set to join actors Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon in their upcoming film Raabta.
The romantic-drama is directed by Dinesh Vijan, who had previously produced films like Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail and Badlapur. Varun said he was excited to play the character that is not doing comedy just for the sake of it.
"It is a fun loving character, he is not doing comedy for the sake of it. He is a regular fun loving person," Varun told PTI.
"It feels nice to bag the film. It is great to reunite with Kriti as we have this north connect and share a great bond. I am really excited and looking forward to work with Dino and Sushant as well," he added.
The film is expected to go on floors in mid-March. Varun will also be seen in Fukrey 2, a sequel to the 2013 comedy directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. Fukrey marked the debut of the 26-year-old actor, who gained prominence with his character 'Choocha'.
"More than pressure, there is a responsibility to live upto to the expectations. My character 'Choocha' became popular, it was quirky and fun. So going back to my first film, to play the character that I enjoyed feels really nice," he said.
The sequel will start in the second half of the year and will retain the original cast including Pulkit Samrat, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha and Manjot Singh.
My lovely friend #DineshVijan with me in his beautiful office...too excited to be working with him on #Raabta!!!

For the last few days, Sushant Singh Rajput has been in 'deep waters' " and he is enjoying it. As part of his prep for Dinesh Vijan's debut directorial 'Raabta', the actor has been undergoing training in open water swimming for a crucial sequence in the film. Sushant has been paired opposite Kriti Sanon in the love story.
Sushant Singh Rajput
Says a source close to the actor, "The film goes on floors next month and since Sushant has to dive into the ocean for one of the scenes, he is taking lessons in open water swimming, which is completely different from pool swimming and requires a different skill set altogether. Open water is more susceptible to various elements like fluctuations in water temperature, surface chop from wind and strong currents that can dramatically effect how long one can swim."
Confirming the story, Sushant says, "Learning how to swim is something that I have put off for many years. Raabta requires hardcore underwater sequences. I have started with it recently and hope I pull it off with ease."
The actor recently wrapped up the shoot of Neeraj Pandey's 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'.

#DineshVijan's directorial debut film #Raabta staring @kritisanon & @itsSSR will release on 25th Nov 2016, Film budget is fixed 40cr.
Kriti Sanon and Sushant Singh Rajput have been working hard on their movie Raabta. The two stars were recently spotted taking horse riding lessons for their movie. Here, they are clicked outside a restaurant in Mumbai. Also seen is SSR's girlfriend Ankita.
Dinesh Vijan's directorial debut Raabta went on-floors earlier this month. The movie was in the news initially for its casting woes. Alia was said to be doing this role. However, things did not work out for Alia and Kriti ended up with the project instead.
They do make a good on-screen couple, don't they?

It is for the first time that Sushant Singh Rajput will share screen space with Kriti Sanon in Dinesh Vijan's Raabta. The Shuddh Desi Romance actor, who has begun prepping up for the romantic film, can't wait to begin shooting for the film as he says that Raabta has an amazing story.

"I read the script of Raabta before MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. It's an amazing story. Right from that day, I have been passionately waiting for the film to go on floors. Some preparation is needed for the role like horse riding and all.
"By the end of this month, we will start shooting. It will be fun," Sushant told IANS at the screening of the film Zubaan in Mumbai.
To make their on-screen chemistry look real, Kriti and Sushant have been spending a lot of time together these days. From movie dates to dinner dates to horse riding lessons, the two have often been spotted together.
Even Kriti believes that her chemistry with Sushant is special. The Dilwale actor said after enacting a scene from the upcoming film with Sushant, she felt they had an instant spark.
In an interview to PTI, she had said, "Dinesh asked us to do a scene from the movie. We were sitting on the sofa and did it impromptu. There was something special, something you cant describe in words. There was a connect, a spark, some chemistry between me and Sushant even though that was the first time we met.
"So, that kind of thing coming out in the first meeting was very different and unique for all of us. The film has a beautiful script. It is something which we three are very passionate about and there is some great energy between three of us," the Dilwale actor added.
The music of the film will be composed by Pritam, while the costumes will be styled by Anaita Shroff Adjania. Dinesh Vijan, who has produced hits like Love Aaj Kal, Badlapur, Cocktail and Go Goa Gone, will now be helming the project with Homi Adajania stepping in as the producer.
We waited for Kriti Sanon to arrive for the launch of Sephora at Forum Mall. But her entry was so low key that we didn't immediately notice, giving the impression that she isn't one to throw starry airs. As shutterbugs clicked away and a throng of journalists waited to speak with her, the poised Kriti kept her answers short and to the point.
The 25-year-old model-turned-actor debuted with the Telugu film, 1: Nenokkadine. She then starred in Sabbir Khan's Heropanti, followed by Rohit Shetty's Dilwale.
But ask her how she transitioned from modelling to acting, and Kriti is quick to point out: "I actually moved from engineering to acting. I think what's important is how talented and passionate you are."
Recalling the first break she got in Bollywood, Kriti says Sabbir took her screen test with co-actor, Tiger Shroff for Heropanti. "I liked the character. She is bratty, yet nave and endearing." Kriti gushes when she speaks about acting with Shah Rukh Khan in Dilwale.
"I found him even more amazing in person. He is chivalrous, warm and intelligent."
When asked whether there was any turning point in her life that shot her to fame, Kriti says:
"My career is too short for there to be any turns! But I would say that not everyone is noticed and accepted in their debut films. I was accepted both by the industry and the audience."
When it comes to style and make-up, Kriti prefers to keep it simple.
"I think less is more. Sephora has these nude themes, which is like no make-up, make-up. In the mornings, I use a good moisturiser and a colouring lip balm. In the evenings, though, I like to go a little glam."
Her skin care regime includes ensuring her skin hydrated. "I also swear by sunscreen. I apply it twice a day. My exercise regime is a combination of weight training and pilates."
She is eagerly looking forward to her next film Raabta, in which she will star opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
"I loved the script and I am excited about this film." Before she is whisked for yet another interview,
Kriti says she loves Bengaluru, where one of her aunts stays, for "its open spaces and warm people."
