Govinda admitted to hospital after losing consciousness at home; undergoes several tests

Bollywood actor Govinda was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after fainting at 8:30 pm the previous night. Following a medical consultation, he received treatment.

Govinda’s health condition

Initially, Govinda's condition improved with medication. However, after experiencing renewed discomfort around 12:30 am, he was admitted to a critical care hospital in Mumbai at approximately 1 am.

Govinda’s friend shares a latest update

Lalit Bindal, Govinda's friend and legal advisor, informed NDTV that the actor received medication following a telephonic consultation before being admitted to the hospital.

"He was given medicine after consulting a doctor and was admitted to the hospital in emergency at 1 am," Bindal confirmed to NDTV.

Bindal refrained from providing further details about Govinda's condition.

"He has undergone several tests and is now awaiting the reports," he added.

About Govinda’s bullet injury

Last October, Govinda sustained a bullet injury in his leg due to a misfired licensed revolver. He was promptly taken to Criticare Hospital near his Juhu home, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for treatment of a wound below his knee. The bullet was removed through an hour-long surgical procedure.

According to his manager, Govinda was storing his licensed revolver in a cupboard when he accidentally dropped it, causing it to discharge.

"I was leaving for a show in Kolkata and it was early morning around 5... woh giri aur chal padi (it fell and misfired)... I was stunned and then I saw a fountain of blood coming out," Govinda recounted after his discharge from the hospital. He mentioned that his doctor accompanied him to the hospital.

Govinda’s statement post discharge

Govinda was discharged from the hospital three days following the incident. The actor, who is associated with the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, was accompanied by his wife Sunita Ahuja and daughter Tina Ahuja.

He greeted media persons and fans with folded hands. "I was about to leave for a show in Kolkata. It was about 5 in the morning. Aur uss time par vo giri aur chal padi (and it just fell and went off). I was shocked by what happened and when I looked down, I saw a fountain of blood. Then I made a video and spoke to the doctor and got admitted," he told reporters waiting outside his home.
