She writes good characters. But she can't write a good story. Mani Ratnam is a better story-teller and Raju Hirani. They can manages it to fit it altogether by climax time.
I think the climax wasn't as bad as some are making it out to be, but it was really silly and I think it was done like that in purpose. The climx for me was the hospital scene and where everyone reaches their breaking point and the ending was like everything is coming together. Even in Zindagi, the climax was not chasing the bulls, but it was the where Farhan meets the father and those voice-overs.
In her post-mortem interview she even says she observes people a lot and that's probably why even her supporting cast like the chachi and Noorie were so brillaint. Reema is better with the story telling, but the pacing was the issue. She knew it was slow and there was a lot of stillness in the beginning, but when those hard-hitting emotional moments came, it paid off. Esepcially for Anil's and Shefali's characters.
her writing is very sophisticated. She hates it when directors cue in music for a comedic moment b/c it makes it seem like the audience is stupid and can't decipher it--but she believes that they can/ They don't need help, they just need to feel the characters and the moment.
Anu was the most wasted character. I feel like she could have been written out or not needed and the story be jsut as fine.
