I so want her to direct Fawad , he's her kind of actor, the sophistication, class and intelligence

Did you even watch the movie?? Just asking coz you opened the thread

She writes good characters. But she can't write a good story. Mani Ratnam is a better story-teller and Raju Hirani. They can manages it to fit it altogether by climax time.

I think the climax wasn't as bad as some are making it out to be, but it was really silly and I think it was done like that in purpose. The climx for me was the hospital scene and where everyone reaches their breaking point and the ending was like everything is coming together. Even in Zindagi, the climax was not chasing the bulls, but it was the where Farhan meets the father and those voice-overs.

In her post-mortem interview she even says she observes people a lot and that's probably why even her supporting cast like the chachi and Noorie were so brillaint. Reema is better with the story telling, but the pacing was the issue. She knew it was slow and there was a lot of stillness in the beginning, but when those hard-hitting emotional moments came, it paid off. Esepcially for Anil's and Shefali's characters.

her writing is very sophisticated. She hates it when directors cue in music for a comedic moment b/c it makes it seem like the audience is stupid and can't decipher it--but she believes that they can/ They don't need help, they just need to feel the characters and the moment.

Anu was the most wasted character. I feel like she could have been written out or not needed and the story be jsut as fine.

perfectly written..

even I felt Anu character was wasted...infact every couple has been underwritten...there is so much scope for everyone...be it sunny character(not a single past glimpse shown with Ayesha)...I liked the scene of Ayesha, sunny and kabir though with pluto(liked AAmir voiceover there)...even liked trio scene at the docks...kabir- farah relation is like HR-kat relation in znmd...BOTH chemistry rocked but somewhere I missed the freshness here(though they gave ample time for their relationship couldnt connect much)...liked the way of taking in the bicycle ride(the way they share the likes and dislikes)...

I really love Zoya and Reema way of storytelling---------she also told in postmortem that she wanted to show peace, so she showed silence in the movie (for example---plane riding by kabir gives him peace)

what's next of reema or zoya-----Mr. Chaalu..???

I think DDD was intended for classes but Zoya decided to water it down to make it more palatable to masses. In the end, it didnt satisfy either masses or classes.
It was dysfunctional family theme but I have seen better movies of this kind in Hollywood. May be the classes also felt so. This one was thanda. Their problems were not serious enough for me to care or feel sorry.

Characterization was also so flimsy. Like why show that fat aunty and her daughters in the beginning, when they had nothing to do at all in the rest of film? Priyanka's character is supposed to be strong and successful at business, but she is too meek to call out her mother in law or husband when they are treating her badly. All she says are they are incompatible - why hesitate to tell the real reason? She always needs someone else to stand up for her. Why?

They should have taken a real dancer who could dance well and is very stunning in place of Anushka. At least that would have made it more exotic.

ZNMD also was a bad film but it had its redeeming moments in exotic locations and shayari by Farhan. Bromance movies always do well. So no wonder ZNMD did better. Hrithik and Katrina were the worst part of the movie
