What is it all about? |
A con fake cinema where a tall and beautiful Sonam Kapoor dumps the rich dullahs all over but not a single proper picture of the shaadi'.. Dolly Ki Doli comes with such wisdom.
Even after some mild amusements and complete commitment of the actors to pack a punch Dolly Ki Doli' is a mismatch. While conning the dulha and his family with milk on Suhag Raat' be it a ganne ke khet obsessed Haryanvi Raju (Rajkummar) or a typical Punjabi staying in saddi Delhi - Manjot (Varun) has some amusing moments creating a lol promise but the unconvincing back story to this Looteri Dulhan' glory spoils all the fun.
Ironically Dolly Ki Doli' due to this mismatch finds itself in a tricky situation it is forced to rely more on the holiday mood and generosity of the audience for favorable returns rather than the content.
The Story
Dolly (Sonam) is tall and beautiful con women. Part of a well organized gang that consist of a up to date papa ( Joshi), a brother (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub) - the target hunter. A gharelu maa and a type cast dadi who utters only a single line Beti De Di Sab Kuch De Diya'.
Dolly and his gang of chors family cast their spell on the target dulha and his family. Gets married and on the wedding night drugs the family with dhoodh and flees with the loot.
But the loot on Manjot (Varun) turns suicidal. Meanwhile, Robin Singh (Pulkit) is tracking down this case and we get to know some personal connection between the cop and this con woman Dolly.
Umashankar Singh and Abhishek Dogra keep it simple during the first half but sadly during the second when the back story starts they suddenly get con' for ideas.
What to look out for
First half is simple and has some amusing moments. Sonam Kapoor is marvelous in the role. She is terrific. Dolly's Dulhas - Rajkumar, Varun and the cop Pulkhit do their part with complete honesty and try to pack a punch.
The supporting cast do a competent job Joshi, Mohammed, Archana Puran Singh al are good in their parts.
What not
Another example of a debutant filmmaker having a concept getting a start but screwing it in the end. The flaws are glaring. In this age of smart phones and slick wheels we have a Looteri Dulhan' dumping Dulhas all over and still no one bothers to click this tall hot and happening chick in his latest pixel camera.. it must be reminded that this looteri dulhan' even meets her target outside and still no click. Can anyone explain this..
Conclusion: 'Dolly Ki Doli' is a con gone wrong. Watch it at your own risk.
