Former NCB chief and IRS officer, Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix and other parties involved in the making of The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. He has alleged the apparent parody of him in the web series is “false, malicious and defamatory”. He has asked for a permanent and mandatory injunction. Sameer Wankhede seeks financial compensation of Rs crore that he plans to donate to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital. He has said the portrayal of anti-drug agencies in the web series is offensive and destabilizes faith in such government bodies. Sameer Wankhede says the series was made to ruin his reputation. Also, Aryan Khan’s legal case is still pending before Bombay High Court and NDPS Special Court of Mumbai. Here is a look at other instances when Red Chillies got into trouble….
When Harinder S Sikka spoke about Red Chillies Entertainment in 2018
Author Harinder S Sikka had revealed how he wrote to Shah Rukh Khan in 2009 after his interaction with Samar Khan. It seems Khan wanted to make a movie out of his novel Calling Sehmat. It seems they wanted to make a film by adapting the story, and would give him credits. They would be no buying of rights. Sikka, who was upset with this wrote to Shah Rukh Khan. A week later, Samar Khan apologized to him.
Manoj Kumar's Rs 100 crore lawsuit on Shah Rukh Khan
Way back in 2007, a huge controversy erupted over Shah Rukh Khan parodying Manoj Kumar in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. He had filed a lawsuit of Rs 100 crores on Shah Rukh Khan. The matter was sorted when SRK went and apologized to him. He accepted his mistake saying if he is completely wrong, and has unconditionally said sorry to him. Later, Kumar withdrew the complaint.

In 2020, Marathi writers filed a complaint on Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment over the zombie thriller series Betaal. They said it was lifted from their story, Vetaal. Sameer Wadekar and Mahesh Gosawi said there were 10 similarities between their script and that of Betaal. They also complainted against Screen Writers’ Association.
