Just saw the movie .It is a decent con flick that really comes alive in the last 30 minutes .3/4th of it is really boring and I felt the director had missed the bus completely .Thankfully once the con act begins ,its quite entertaining and engaging with several twists and turns .

I thought the film had a very shaky start .Emraan's introduction (the card sequence) was really tacky ditto for the song that followed immediately .In fact there were 3 songs within twenty minutes and worse they were not even hummable .Something you would expect in a Emraan movie.

The first con involving the exchange of cars was not that convincing. The murder that happened was a good twist but the film goes down further once Paresh Rawal is introduced .It felt like altogerther a different movie. Also the love angle was not at all needed in the film .It bogs the film down whenever something interesting is about to happen.I was bored out of my mind when the interval was flashed.

Thankfully things improved for better post interval .The conning acts were unbelievable but quite entertaining which is why I did not mind them. One scene in particular stood out when Emraan and KK visited the office of Indian Cricket Board .Very well done. The graph of the film reaches its peak in the last 30 minutes.Everything that seemed pointless earlier made perfect sense when the big twist was revealed in the climax.

Performance wise ,Emraan looks fresh and acts well .It was a pleasure seeing him after a long time .Humaima Malik looks good but her role was an irritant .Paresh Rawal is very good.KK is fantastic.

Overall ,the film remains a decent time pass.

2.5/5

Raja Natwarlal Opening Day (1st Friday) Box Office Collections

August 30th, 2014 by Koimoi.com Team

Raja Natwarlal has had an average opening day collections. The film collected 5.75 crores on its first Friday. Starring Emraan Hashmi and Humaima Malick in lead roles, the film had a major obstacle of the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi on its release day.

Even though Friday was a holiday, due to the festivities, not many audiences were expected to flock to the theatres especially in the Maharashtra circuit where Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in full fervour. Yet, the performed its best in Gujrat and Mumbai while the rest of North circuits remained poor. With average critics ratings, the film had less chances to have a bumper opening since its pre-release buzz too was not up to the mark.

Raja Natwarlal having no competition and a decent screen count is expected to pick up over Saturday and Sunday. The film may not show an exceptional jump but it will have to pull off a good business over the weekend to put up decent opening weekend figures at the domestic box office.

Raja Natwarlal had poor collections on day one as it collected around 5 crore nett on day one. Mumbai circuit was a bit better as Gujarat and Saurashtra fared better and by far the best collections across India. It was a holiday in Maharashtra and Gujarat and that helped Mumbai circuit compared to rest of India but even with holiday Mumbai can not be called good.

The rest of the country was poor with North and Central recording dull collections and also not showing that major jump in the evening shows which was needed.

Normally a film like Raja Natwarlal would grow from this level but as Mumbai has been helped by holiday that circuit may not be able to grow so will be depending on other circuits for growth.

I liked the movie! Atleast a different plot for a movie of Emraan Hasmi and also better than recent releases.
