Just because India CHOOSES to give any B/C-grade actor a red carpet welcome and chooses to be lax about security, doesn't mean the US has to be. We all know EXACTLY why the US is that cautious about security..why you have to go through double, triple checking before boarding a plane that takes for the US...frankly speaking, this security, despite the hassles that come along with it, has avoided another 9/11 i the US and I feel SAFE because of it.

Since its a common occurence with SRK, maybe his name matches someone on their list...so they question him more..it is a hassle and I think he has full rights to get upset about it. But unlike the Newark detainment before MNIK released where SRK clearly milked what happened for publicity for his film, I don't see him making a HUGE deal out of what happened here. He simply made one joke in a speech or am I wrong? Didn't go through all the pages and other news articles.. I see more of an OUTRAGE amongst BW industry, Indian Gov't, and die hard fans ki how DARE they detain SRK.

Thank you for coming to the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi evening. My name is Peter Vrooman, Spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy. Before I make my statement, I would just like to say that many Americans are great fans of Indian movies, and respect the work of the great actor, Shah Rukh Khan. My own daughter always asks to see SRK's Chammak Challo video song. I am thrilled that he was recognized by Yale University yesterday as a Chubb Fellow.

BEGIN STATEMENT:

Please allow me on behalf of our diplomatic mission in India to apologize if Mr. Shah Rukh Khan experienced an inconvenience or delay yesterday in White Plains, New York, on his way to Yale University.

The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol is tasked with protecting our Nation's borders. Most international travelers enter the U.S. via large, international airports, but U.S. authorities also facilitate travel to domestic airports, like White Plains.

My message today is to broaden understanding about the Department of Homeland Security's efforts to put in place systems that can help address circumstances faced by Mr. Khan or any other traveler. It is called the Traveler Redress Inquiry Program.

If you or anyone you know have been selected for secondary screening on multiple occasions you can use the Department of Homeland Security Traveler Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP) to resolve issues such as misidentification. DHS TRIP is a single point of contact for individuals who have inquiries or seek resolution regarding difficulties they experienced during their travel screening at transportation hubs.

People who have experienced difficulties upon entry into or exit from the U.S. at a port of entry or border crossing can file an inquiry to seek redress. DHS TRIP routes your redress request to the appropriate office for review and adjudication. You may access TRIP at:www.dhs.gov/trip

Once again, let me stress that we strive to welcome all legitimate travelers to the US warmly, and we apologize for any inconvenience that Mr. Shah Rukh Khan may have experienced. Thank you for helping share the word about this important initiative to resolve travel-related issues.
