Maybe thats the reason he is questioned at the airports. Lets face it, USA is paranoid after what happened in the past and they do go overboard with their security measures. Its not their fault if other countries like India are lax with their security measures. Just bcoz India doesn't bother to scrutinize the foreign celebs doesn't meant USA too has to extend the same courtesy to Indian celebs.
They are going by whats in the rule book. In a way it does make sense and it does give public a sense of security that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

People do express their displeasure bcoz of the inconvenience caused, even a common man does complain. SRK too did and he does have a right to express his displeasure... Of course people will judge him, they may find his complaining more like whining after all he is not a common man here who has to travel in economy class 24 hrs to get to America.
Anyways, he is justified in expressing his displeasure and people too have every right to judge him.

Or maybe he was questioned bcoz some bollywood stars and other artists are under scrutiny bcoz of financial transactions like illegal cash payments some of them get thru shady organizers and promoters.
Whatever be the reason, this looks more like secondary inspection. As usual the media exaggerates and uses words like detention and hypes the whole episode.
Whats more annoying here is the Indian Govt getting involved in this. He was visiting the country on a private visit and not representing the Indian Govt in any way... Why are they getting so hyper abt it and turning it into an international crisis. Ridiculous.
Good they are getting a backlash bcoz of this. There are so many hard pressing issues in the country and all they are bothered is abt the inconvenience caused to a celeb who travels in a private jet and ends up getting questioned for an hour and a half and coincidently the celeb involved is a muslim. The govt (Congress) is milking it now, just making sure they are pleasing their vote bank... Everyone has their own agenda... 😆

I agree in some part to what you say about certain names being on a watch list, but what gets my goat is even after the first time around, when you verify someone as not being a threat, wouldn't there be an addendum to whatever the immigration officers can see on their database, so it doesn't keep happening over and over... that's just ridiculous!!. The fact that they were apologetic right away after it happened is very telling in my book. Someone screwed up and perhaps this incident would not have even happened. I don't really have an opinion about the Indian govt and their vote bank issues, maybe it's an excuse to milk this for whatever they want, but bottom line is SRK has every right to be pissed and complain in my opinion...

I really wish the Indian Immigration official's follow this path and frisk everyone instead of licking VIP's Shoes and A$$es, they better do their job VIP / Non VIP Shouldn't care and we won't see any more terror attacks in India too...I am really glad that these officers give a damn about the status of the person coming into US. And for all the people who say that US media will make a big fuss when Obama or any other foreign celebrity arrive to India and if they are frisked/Detained, may be they should start doing their job for what they have been appointed...
Before I got my US citizenship I had to go to India while my green card was for processing and they had me in another room and I was questioned, which was a pain in the neck experience as I was travelling with my 1 year old Son and this was way before 9/11, and I really understood that they were just doing their job and thank god for that or else US will see terror attacks way more often if not for this system. Now people might say you are not a celebrity so you will have to bear it, So what are the celebs exempted from all rules, won't they have to follow them????

Does it suck for him to be detained...yes...can he whine to his hearts content...his prerogative...should everybody else take a chill pill...oh my freaking god yes!

I am actually getting more and more annoyed with the way homeland security functions as I think about this. Agreed, I started out as being supportive to SRK, but when I think about all I've seen and read and experienced with homeland security, I so badly want them to improve and change and make it better!!!

oh god not again, and then he asks why ppl are getting annoyed with him

I remember last time this happened, US comedians were making fun of him...even they said how he was making a huge issue out of nothing to promote his movie. And now indian gov is getting involved in this
Ridiculous...this is a matter of national security, not all countries are as lean back as India in regards to their security. And shahrukh has such a problem with it, then STOP COMING HERE!!!!!!!!!

No one gives a DAMN!

And how do we know for certain that he is detained/questioned bcoz of his name. He could be questioned bcoz of some transactions too... Many of these promoters are very dodgy and they have connections with the underworld. SRK may not be directly at fault, but his business transactions with these promoters could be the reason for his name too in the watch list. Who knows.

That's quite possible too...I wish homeland security would have some process by which you can do something if you name comes up on the watch list again and again...

Its so funny that people expect SRK to behave like a common man when it comes to following rules...but then they take away the right of getting upset/angry/frustrated like a common man..from him..😆...if he is a common man then let him be exactly that...are you going to tell me that a common man like u and me would not be frustrated or upset if we were detained for hours...if we reserve the right to be frustrated then why take it away from him...I can see people getting frustrated by just reading the comments of the fans on this thread ...and u don't want that emotion to be shown by SRK...
