Hurricane....??!! like fa reall??
The entire basis was good but I felt it was still OTT in certain ways..although it was SRK Kajol..Kajol annoyed me a bit

Black weren't shown in the bad light. Infact movie best part is with mamma jenny. Srk best speech in church, how she gives him clothes and how the black kid is so nice to rizwan. Kjo shows positive side of blacks.

If it's a syndrom it's like saying there are specific criterion to describe a certain mental state....
it's like saying borderline people have no mental pb which is wrong..the same goes for autistic people...my sister is so I do know...
He had a therapist (unofficial? his sister in law) so I guess he had some problem to solve nah...pfff
I understand Mandira was in pain - but so far there was no proof about the motivation of the killing of her son..how come can she say it's because he's Khan"....If he was a Khanna - don't know if his stupid schoolmates would have made a significant difference....I guess american people don't know that there was some trouble between Hindus & Muslims in India and pbbly most of them don't know that India & Pakistan used to be ONE country....
Since WHEN people with mental or personality disorders are even ALLOWED to adopt children...? You should read a bit about the spirit of law & how Law is made no matter your country of origin...A person like Riz has a legal tutor which was OBVIOUSLY his brother!!! And normally Riz couldn't have got married without legal consent of his bro....so the storyline is messed up sorry!!!!
Yes racism was quite bad after 9/11 and against sikhs hindus Pakistanis indians who weren't even muslims... and towards people who looked like eastern.....yes...but before too there was racism...it's everywhere & in every town...
even where I live people make a huge difference between light & lighter.....
MNIK lacks subtility & coherence..that's it....the movie means to fight cliches while using the biggest ones ever..contradiction & stupidity much....

syndrome means that u have a specific problem sum peeps also have OCD but again they are very much normal hence i cannot see the arguement of y mandira will let such a person near her kid
-second of all i dun think u have seen the movie properly, in the movie when she finds out that it was a racist attack then she attacks srk wid her bad words
-and it is ur opinion that the movie was bad but since it got great reviews and is a box-office success, i guess a lot of peeps thought otherwise
-i guess everyone have difference of opinions, maybe the movie seemed a bit try hard, maybe it lacked subtelty, but i think it was a real good attempt

hate to say this, but k3g atleast was true to itself, it was supposed to be a cheese fest and that is exactly what the film was. MNIK on the other hand, seems like its trying really hard to be all serious and cerebral..nothing wrong with that...but when ur making a film on such a controversial issue...atleast get the facts and basics right!

I have to so agree to this, specially the bit in red. The film was flawed on so many levels and thevigilidiots review really picks on it well. There were many instances that made me go W*H? Specially the bit where the police officer tells Mandira that the bruises of the football on her son's body were signs of it being a racial attack? I mean seriously? 😕 ...The timeline of the entire movie was sooo messed up. The entire flood sequences was stupid and really very OTT.
I loved SRK and Kajol's acting and the idea behind the movie wasn't bad either but the entire story / screenplay was very shoddy. KJo should really rack his brains and do more research when he attempts to do something "new".

Ok let's get this straight 😛 erm never said Riz wasn't NORMAL...and what is normal in this mad world????????????????????? And sorry s.o who needs a legal tutor makes him an infant in the eyes of RESPONSIBLE grown ups.......That's reality...so all his wandering all over the States is silly cause if Mandira & his Bro were responsible - they would have stopped him....and taken him back.
I've seen the movie 4 times-- so I have seen it properly....thanks.😃 Yes Mandira is a racist & stupid character for me. Her son was killed by ignorant people -- I don't even think they were racist because I don't think they knew he was indian and Hindu/muslim (?).... You should re read properly what I wrote....yourself....😊😉
I never said what I wrote was the OPINION? OF THE MAJORITY.....it's only LALIXLILI who posted the previous comments not ALL THE WORLD....it's not because movies are hits that make them smart or good movies....It only make them movies which recover their initial costs and make extra money. MNIK's second part is ridiculous and if I was indian I'd be ashamed that an indian director made a movie full of racist cliches and showed clear ignorance about how people in the US felt the 9/11. Sorry but the sequence of a teacher saying Islam is the religion of Devil or sth like that...= stupidity!!!!!! teachers are not generally allowed to express racism in classes...maybe in India it's normal but not in The US sorry...😊
I think Avatar & Titanic are silly movies./....😆😊 and they are like the biggest hits ever....😕😳 so the BO status of any movie doesn't count for me - that counts for producers who make money --- But some coherence in a storyline does matter to me.
FYI --- I read a lot about the reactions of international critics & random non asian american people and sorry to say - one indian critic witnessed lots of foreign critics laughing out loud at the candidness and OTT melodrama of MNIK during the screening and there are black people who walked out the theaters when seeing the Mama Jenny sequences....
Sorry but in MNIK there are a lot of racist cliches unseen since a very long time...and that just shows the ignorance/non originality of Kjo & his scriptwriter about some minorities in the USA...
If the movie was a fantasy --- I'd have understood and taken it like when I saw Big Fish --- because there are uncoherence & random elements in the movie but it does make sense cause it's a FANTASY movie - MNIK is/was supposed to be a serious one - I don't get all the FANTASY in it...🤢
I understand people like it - I don't question that - the topic is about THE WRONG in MNIK --- that was what I was pointing out --- if it was about the right/good things about it --- I'd have said that the first 30 minutes are awesome.😊
yes it was a good attempt....🤢😭 perhaps next time it'll be a concrete attempt let's dream....
Most of people went to see the movie for Kajol & SRK...not because of the subject...this is reality...with another lead characters...Kareena & Saif for example --- it pbbly would have flopped just like Kurbaan...

I dont know if Kurbaan flopped but yes, MNIK would have had it not been for SRK and KAJOL. As for good attempt-- It was good attempt as KANK (a disaster) It's just a good attempt gone HAYWIRE. It would've been something else had it been directed by Anurag Kashyap or even Madhur (who according to me is still over-rated)

Re: Box Office says it all. It's like one of those OVER HYPED movies the audiences go to watch something extravagant but come out with a BIG W*F!!! (Much like LAK 😆 ) Of course, some people liked it, not everyone's choice is the same but COMMON!!! You think movies like these are GOOD?? 😕

Re: SRK's acting 😆 I cringe when people claim that it's his career's best 😆

IGNORANCE is a BLISS 😆😆
Indian Director reminds me of New York as well 😆 Trying to show how FBI operates 😆 SERIOUSLY!!! Like they're the dumbest thing on the planet.

I havent seen Avatar but I hated TITANIC 😕😕😕 JAck- ROSE...ROSE--JACK...W*F was that? The shipwreck was awesome tho but the whole love triangle 😕 was just too much 🥱

I agree entirely, especially with the Avatar bit. Titanic at least had Kate Winslet as its redeeming factor.

Please do not get sidetracked and start discussing hollywood movies, stick to the topic and also do not use offensive words as I-F contains many young members too so we would prefer you not to use such words.

Agree completely with you. If not for SRK and Kajol it would have been a complete washout. And IMO MINK was one of the very average stuff coming out of SRK and Kajol.
KJO just makes a Khichdi out of realism😆. He rather stick to the candyfloss genre.

Ok here's the thing. MNIK is a fabulous movie and Kajol and Shahrukh did justice to their roles. But when you take this movie and put it into comparison with movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gaum, etc, it falls short.

It's true that some scenes in the movie were quite unrealistic. But that's bollywood. The message it was trying to convey was a strong one, but a bit unrealistic at the same time. Maybe that's why a lot didn't appreciate the film.

I for one fell in love with Shahrukh's acting. He's done a tremendous job in the film. It felt so nice seeing him and Kajol work together after so long. The songs were good too. But a lot of points made in the film were shaky and didn't quite get the message that was originally supposed to be conveyed.

KKHH & K3G were far better in terms of the story line and the fact that they were a bit more realistic.

Anyways for me I enjoyed every moment of MNIK! =)
