So I think pretty much everyone agrees the movie would have been better without that whole hurricane-Mama Jenny sequence (probably would've cut the length a little bit too).

bad editing😃...the movie was gud, brilliant performance by everyone, not only SRK-Kajol...but as an audience i cud feel the loopholes in the storyline...there was no continuity in the scenes...tat i believe is a result of bad editing...

[Opinion] Acting was horrendous, especially Kajol's. If these kinds of acting were allowed in Hollywood, they would have all bagged the Razzie awards by now [/sarcasm]. Had the acting been a little better maybe I would have liked the movie, as I give too much importance to acting than anything else. Too pretentious, too melodramatic, and absolutely hollow and lacking any depth whatsoever. It seemed as though they were all trying to give their best, but falling short of it at every step. A good concept doesn't make a good movie. A movie has to be executed well enough, too, to be considered a great work of art. And it is in this department where MNIK falls short. What an idiotic, illogical, absolutely hilarious plot. 9/11 is a sensitive issue, and so is terrorism and Asperger syndrome. And what did KJo do? Make a mockery of them, just as he made mockery of love, friendship, family, humanity, religion, homosexuality, etc etc in his earlier works. His early works were at least good in the sense that they did not at least delve into such serious and controversial issues. Ugh.

And I don't even want to start on Kajol's acting. Like seriously, is this the same girl who played the twin sisters in Dushman, Anjali in KKHH, Priya in Baazigar and U, Me aur Hum, Simran in DDLJ? It seems almost impossible to believe given that her performance in this movie was mediocre at best. Especially at the scene where her son dies; so over-the-top and not at all authentic. Her acting had been going down post her marriage. I think U, Me aur Hum was the only good performance of hers in this decade. Don't get me wrong - I am one of Kajol's biggest fans, and yet I thought she was medicre in this movie. SRK was okay, nothing to write home about.

If KJo really wanted to make a serious movie, he would have not taken SRK and Kajol into it. He wouldn't have shoved candy-floss elements inside it like he did. MNIK as a commercial movie through and through and let us stop pretending that it is some artsy / parallel film.

But like said, it was the acting that turned me off. In the hands of a better director, with a better script writer, the film might have been better.

High time Bollywood stops praising everything different and out-of-the-box to the skies. Black and Tare Zameen Par are prime examples of that. [/Opinion]

That said, like I said on another thread, comapred with the super-dumb movies that Bollywood is making now-a-days, this one deserves a standing ovation. 👏

P.S. As has already been said, this is strictly my *opinion*. Feel free to disagree, but please save the lecture. 😆

I loved the music as well, Noor-E-Khuda is one of my favourite songs, I loved Sajda and Tere Naina and I could see the chemistry between Shahrukh and Kajol and I loved it, I'm so glad I've bought this film on DVD.
