Had the acting been a little better maybe I would have liked the movie, as I give too much importance to acting than anything else. Too pretentious, too melodramatic, and absolutely hollow and lacking any depth whatsoever. It seemed as though they were all trying to give their best, but falling short of it at every step. A good concept doesn't make a good movie. A movie has to be executed well enough, too, to be considered a great work of art. And it is in this department where MNIK falls short. What an idiotic, illogical, absolutely hilarious plot. 9/11 is a sensitive issue, and so is terrorism and Asperger syndrome. And what did KJo do? Make a mockery of them, just as he made mockery of love, friendship, family, humanity, religion, homosexuality, etc etc in his earlier works. His early works were at least good in the sense that they did not at least delve into such serious and controversial issues. Ugh.

I totally agree 👏👏 Cudnt have put it in a better way that this. People rave about SRK's acting but he looked more constipated than someone having Asperger 😕 (and yus, we have people whose cousin or someone they know have that syndrome. It's not like that we dont know either) But there's a difference between acting and over doing it.
Don't know how KJO gets away with all these emotional torture--- Chalo let's write a character with some incurable/ dreadful disease, Indian audiences are bound to show their pity-- what a shame!!!

However, I believe a lot of people didn't actually like it very much. Which, surprises me. I personally thought it was refreshingly different from KJ's other movies and while it obviously had a dramatic element to it, I thought the acting and the subject was very well executed. After a long time, I thought SRK was able to bring a certain innocence and newness in his characters.

So what is it about the movie that didn't appeal to the audience? I'm curious to know 😊

It did appeal to the audience. Movie is a HIT.

The Movie was drag .. they took a novel concept n cud have made a gr8 movie if they knew wat they wr doing.

The movie was going fine in the first half but i found it extremely boring in the second half. It showed sum highly ridiculous stuffs n tried portraying the lead as the He-Man .. yes all movies do tht i knw but i m precisely talking abt this movie !

I have no prb with the Actors .. i wud say they needed a better director .. KJO was the worst possible director to handle such issues ! KJO u spell candy floss so pls dun try spelling serious issues !

Well if other ppl didnt like it, i cant really question them as everybody has their own choice...but for me, I SIMPLY LOVED THE MOVIE from the bottom of my heart! One of the best of 2010! :) It was actually THE BEST Kjo movie according to me.

i found it too illogical and way over-hyped! And I didn't like the fact that some Indian critics thought it should automatically deserve an Oscar b/c it dealt w/racism issues...MNIK is not but I call OScar-worthy partially b/c the script was weak in certain places and too filmy in other places!

It was def a very honest and different Kjo film! I personally liked Kurbaan better! Because in MNIK it was a bit boring and it dragged on! I still enjoyed the film though, since I was a Muslim and could relate to the fear Muslims have to live through in America! But loved SRk was the best part in the film. Loved seeing different character from him other than the romantic hero type!

i also thought kurbaan was better...i thought it was 10 times better!! Kareena was fantastic in the movie and she totally deserved the nomination in this movie over 3 idiots(but that a different topic)! The script was much stronger and in my opinion so were the performances!

I didn't like it or hate it. I'm quite neutral about MNIK. One thing that I did like was the message in the film, which was in the world there are only two kinds of people, good people and bad people. That was a really simple message but so true.
