What went wrong with Dhadak 2 in context with Anti-Nepo Supporters?

For years, ppl rant about how KJO isn't giving opportunities to newcomers or outsiders, other than Nepo Kids.

Here, Dharma brought 2 outsiders - Sid & Tripti, both of whom had a good rep with Anti-Nepo gangs for being talented & worthy of big roles.

Ab, mauka mila, full-fledged film, no Nepo interference, and the result isn't what the Anti-Nepo gang predicted - that if given a chance, they can do wonders.

An interesting case can be seen from Saiyaara & Dhadak 2; the audience loved Saiyaara like anything, in which the lead hero is a Nepo Kid, and they ignored & didn't appreciate Dhadak 2's both leads.

All those claims that Tripti can eat up 20 Janhvis, Ananyas in breakfast if given main lead roles... result - Bad Newzz, Dhadak 2, dono dabba gul? 😊

Sid was never hero material coz he chose to go for acting, character roles, rather than working on shaping himself for a stardom-worthy hero.

Anti-Nepo gangs are being trolled big time by the cinema-paying audience, as their rona dhona was just fake drama & no reality.

I think public is just looking for a good film that entertains/excites them ..this nepo/ non nepo debate is all hogwash .

It has nothing to do with nepo non nepo nonsense. Public cares and goes for what excites them. There is not a single song I have heard or remember of dhadak 2. Saiyara's title track and other songs are a rage. Evem dhadak's music was hit. Why are we forgetting the impact hit music makes on movies and their BO. Make interesting movies..make good music and most importantly release interesting trailers. That is what counts and that is exactly why dhadak 2 is standing where it is today..nothing to do with nepo/non nepo

Ananya and Janvi ne kitni blockbusters di hai? Rasha got a blockbuster song yet the movie was a disaster. Khushi Junaid's movie was a disaster. Sharvari's film with John was a big flop after Munjya. Baki nepos toh OTT pe atkey hai. Bad Newz ab sirf Tripti ki film hai Vicky Kaushal ki nahi?

When an outsider gain popularity, KJO immediately cast him/her opposite his favorite nepo.Net result below average..If both are outsiders, he will find the script from his recycle bin, net result below average.If he gives a proper strong script to the talented outsiders, then his PH will revive.Only if

The debate around nepo vs outsider is honestly becoming redundant. What truly matters is what clicks with the cinema-going audience — and that's a mix of music, storytelling, genre, and timing, not lineage.

Saiyaara had massive musical pull and leaned into escapist Bollywood romance — always a crowd-favorite. On the other hand, Dhadak 2 tackled caste, realism, and discomforting truths. That’s not easy to sell to a mass audience, no matter who is acting in it — star kid or outsider.

Tripti and Sid didn't fail — the film just didn't align with what the larger audience is willing to engage with right now.
