Karan Kundra overshadows Hazel |
Television actor Karan Kundra will be the surprise element for this week in STAR Plus reality show Zara Nachke Dikha. He completely overshadows Hazel in the Khallas round 'retro performance. |
The stage was set of the 60s and 70's cabaret times which gave an authentic feeling for a non-dancer like Karan Kundra, who was in full retro mood. The actor was enthusiastic in his dancing moves and every one right from the judges to spot boys of the show were enjoying. He also did some jungle dance which was liked by the judges especially Shilpa Shetty and Arshad Warsi. He used all his energy in this performance. He performed on two tracks Bachna Aae Haseeno' And Aaa Dekhe Zara while Hazel performed on female verse of Aaa Dekhe Zara...She was at her best but Karan stole away the whole attention towards him through his performance. After the performance Shilpa Shetty-Kundra told him, "Mr. Kundra what a rocking performance", Arshad couldn't help laughing; he also said that he thoroughly enjoyed the performance, same with Vaibhavi. Later, keeping Karan's wish in mind all the three judges came on the stage and performed with him in the get up, Shilpa Shetty-Kundra and Arshad Warsi enjoyed the most while Vaibhavi showed some steps to Karan. Later, Kritika gave him jaadu ki jhappi for his splendid performance. We spoke to Karan Kundra who said, "I was very confident that I am going rock the Khallas round because I love retro music and these type of songs, though while rehearsing I was very nervous but in the end everything was superb and I think this would be my best dance performance ever. The credit goes to Harshall-Vithal, choreographers." |
Karan Kundra taking it all
Handsome hunk
Born in into a business family in Jalandhar, Punjab, Karan was pursuing an MBA degree in Florida, USA, but left it to pursue his dream in acting. His father, SP Kundra, a businessman, and his mother, Suneeta Kundra, a homemaker, were skeptical at first, but later gave in when they came to know how passionate their son was about acting. He has three sisters, Poonam a doctor settled in USA, Meenu who lives in Ontario, Canada and Madhu who lives here in India. A little known fact about Karan is that he owns successful call centre in his hometown of Jalandhar.
Say Cheese!
His first breakthrough came when he was cast in Balaji's 'Kitani Mohabbat hai'. The 26 year old, 6'1 hottie soon became a household phenomenon. He charmed women everywhere and made young girls go weak in the knees as he played the role of 'Arjun Punj' a man wrongly convicted of crime. But fate had different plans for him; sadly the show only lasted from January 19th, 2009 to September 25th, 2009. Fans sure were crestfallen, and at the same time agitated, about the cancellation of the show. As of now there is a buzz going around for a sequel for the show due to strong public demand.
Kitni Mohabbat Hai
The end of 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai' was also a bittersweet one for Karan, because it was during
the filming of this show that he met his lady love, Kritika Kamra. It was a dream come true for all the followers of 'Kitni Mohabat hai' who had laughed, cried, and celebrated moments with their beloved 'Arjun and Arohi'. Girls follow me
After bagging the affection of his lady, there was a strong a rumour going around that Rajashri Production had offered him a lead role in another hit "Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki', but Karan rubbished all of the reports, giving birth to a whole new report of him being loyal to his television matriarch, Ekta Kapoor.
Bachna Aye Haseeno
Karan Kundra has it all -- fortune, fame, and an army of dedicated fans -- but a little controversy of drunk driving in March 2009 threatened to damage his bright future. However, all was well in the end for the bad boy as the case got settled in the court, with Karan learning from his mistakes.
As of 2010, Karan and Kritika are a part of the hit dance reality show 'Zara Nachke Dikha' where the age old battle of the sexes is fought by grooving to catchy songs. Karan and Krittika are each other's strength as well as weakness; will the lovestruck couple survive till the end? Only time will tell. Recently Karan fractured his thumb; but he maintains that he is not going to let it get him down, and hopes to be back in full swing on the stage during the shoot. Most wanted
Love him or hate him, but you certainly can't ignore him. In a place where actors vanish as soon as their show goes off air, Karan Kundra 's talent in abundance, his inbuilt charisma, and a very strong presence on screen as well as off keeps the audience wanting more. This small town 'Punjab da Puttar' is here to stay!!
Lady Killer
There is something effortlessly sexy about Karan Kundra; it has not been long since this dashing young gun made his entry into the fickle television industry. This former finalist of Mr. India 2008 knows a thing or two about being macho, but don't mistake him for someone who is all body and no brain. TellyCafe.com got up close and personal with this handsome hunk and found out a thing or two about him.

Karan Kundra's 35-Feet ExperienceWhat happens in a season where sun has no mercy on us, and you are left alone in a dark, at a height with no support other than a rod? We are sure you will experience the pinch of fear. And same the experience has been just experienced by our heartthrob Karan Kundra. Today on the sets of 'Zara Nachke Dikha', our guy had a breath taking experience which he exclusively shared with TellyCafe. Talking about his experience, Karan says, "I was rehearsing for the day as I practice on the sets and not in the rehearsal hall. And for one of the episodes, I had a very dangerous entry for my performance from almost 35 feet above the stage. And I was rehearsing for that stunt along with our choreographer. We both went up almost 35 feet up and suddenly lights went off and we were left alone in the dark at the height. We were sweating like anything and there as no one to guide us back to the ground level. I was sweating and I did not know what I was standing on. Thus, I was standing there quietly with out making a move."
"After sometime, when we came back down, I saw that I was standing on an aluminium Air Conditioner Plate, which was quite fragile and could have given way at any point of time. Today, I realized what exactly a reality show is, as this was one of my memorable albeit horrifying moments on the sets of 'Zara Nachke Dikha'." adds Karan.
Karan goes on, "And thus my rehearsals were discontinued for today."

Circuit short-circuits Karan Karan is burning up the floor currently in STAR Plus' Zara Nachke Dikha. He says that Arshad Warsi aka Circuit, who plays judge on the show, came backstage and disarmed him with his friendliness. "Everyone knows about my dancing ability and so I was nervous about my introductory dance and then the group act. After the relief of the performance, I was very surprised to see Arshad Warsi coming backstage. He strolled over just to give me some tips and even took me through a few steps," says Karan, "he was very friendly and he didn't have any airs about being a Bollywood actor. After a chat about the steps he told me about his early days when he had started doing choreography. Then he just cheered me on by saying: 'just work hard and show your best to the world'. He told me I had potential as a dancer and he wished me all the best."
Such friendliness from one of his idols was a great surprise to Karan. "I am happy that the judges are very sweet. They just look harsh on-screen but off-screen they are very encouraging!"
Don't forget to check out Karan Kundra's performance (and see if Arshad's tips helped!) this weekend at 9 pm only on STAR Plus.

Kritika Working Extra Hard for ZND... All the contestants of 'Zara Nachke Dikha' are geared up to set the stage on fire with their sizzling moves. But along with this burning desire, there is that fear of getting eliminated that is constantly on their minds. Kritika Kamra shares similar feelings.
"I am trying very hard and rehearsing day and night for the show as our second technical will held today and final shoot for 3rd episode will be completed tomorrow," says an exhausted Kamra.
She told TellyCafe that performing in a reality show is not an easy job and requires lot of energy. She added that the audience will only see their performance and that they won't know at what hour of day was it being recorded so one needs to show his/her vigor even if shoot is happening at odd hours.
"Its just the start and I am already feeling tired, let's see how far I go in the race and how much the audience likes me and my dance," signs off Kritika.
Well, we wish her and the entire 'Zara Nachke Dikha' crew all the best .

Karan Moves too big for Rehearsal Hall...
One of the most popular and celebrated actors of television, Karan Kundra, will be presenting his dancing skills in Star Plus's 'Zara Nachke Dikha''. His dance moves are surely going to increase his fan following and Karan is leaving no stone unturned in making sure he gets it right.
Kundra was finding it difficult rehearsing in the small rehearsal room and then matching the elaborate steps on the big stage, so he requested the production to allow him to practice directly on the stage.
Kundra said, "The actual stage is bigger than the rehearsal hall, and when it came to the technical practice of the first episode, I was not able to match my steps with others'. Thus I made up my mind that I won't practice in the room and do my rehearsals on the stage. The production was kind enough to consider my request, and has provided me with a softy and a sound system," added Kundra.
When asked if his choreographers are present with him during his practice, Kundra replied that his choreographers have also been very supportive and are there with him for the practice session in Film City, where the set of 'ZND' has been built.
Well, that is the sign of a perfectionist.

Karan Kundragets ready to dance Karan Kundra, who made his debut with Kitani Mohabat Hai is now all set to prove his dancing prowess in Star Plus' Zara Nachke Dikha 2. Here is what he had to tell about the show..."A reality show is a completely different ball game from our daily soap routine. Here you get to be yourself and show your other talents apart from acting," says Karan. He is not afraid of the games which supposedly go on in reality formats. " I don't think unnecessarily anybody messes with you. It also depends on how you play your own game. I have always believed in sportsman's spirit", says this Mr India 2008 finalist.
Karan has no qualms to admit that he is not a born dancer, "But yes, I pick up quite quick," he adds. "This Jalandhar boy has become much better than my first day of rehearsals when he was way to stiff," adds our source.About the boys v/s girl format, Karan thinks that this age old battle between the sexes is interesting . "However, I don't take it seriously. We have all come here to have fun. Having said that nobody likes to lose including me," he justifies. When reminded that the opposition has big ticket dancers like Rakhi Sawant and Sanjeeda Sheikh on board! He fired back, "Don't forget we also have Abhisheh Awasthi and Siddhesh Pai. Also a lot depends on you how play on that particular day. We guys are beginning to gel as a unit, there is no question of 'You are a better dancer than me' kind of crap for we all know that this is a team effort and if we don't sync together we will sink. My stint as a call center executive is helping me in this effort."Since Masakali (the girl squad) has good friend Aditti Gupta in their squad, will he lower his guard and he quips, "Rather, I will work harder to impress her (laughs). On a more serious note, having someone with whom you have a comfort level will make the two month long journey more enjoyable."Apart from reality, Karan would like to experiment with different roles in fiction, "I don't want to do what I have done before. I was quite disappointed at the way the Balaji show ended as it was quite abrupt. I am also not very happy with the treatment given to my other recently ended Sony show Betaab Dil Ki Tamanna Hai. The tracks did not happen as promised, " he concludes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
