Book # 1 (Lizzie): The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker [Aug 1 - Aug 9]

Book # 2 (Vera): The devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino [Aug 10 - 19]

If you sign up for the Book Besties Challenge (yes you will need to sign up for this unlike the previous months where you could just jump in), you will be paired with another person in the Reading Challenge.

You will then Buddy Read 2 books during the month.

Each book will be suggested by one person.

Make sure you’re picking books that are easily available.

Keep in mind your Book Bestie’s triggers (if they have any) & offer 2-3 choices.

Your Book Bestie will be someone from another team (again, we will do our best to ensure this but it’s not guaranteed)

Once grouped, one of you will post your Buddy Reading thread, and you will continue to post your comments and reviews in the thread.

Participation must be evident from both Besties in order to receive the special badge - this includes offering choices and discussions on what books you will be picking for the month, and deciding the pace of reading.

Note that the pace does not have to match. For e.g.: One buddy may read ahead and finish the book, while the other may be slower, but the point is for both to finish reading the book during the month.

Note that DNF books will NOT BE counted! So make sure you pick wisely.

You can, however, both decide to DNF and pick a different book instead. All in all, 2 books must be completed by both buddies to receive the badge. You can indicate in your log which books you completed as part of the Book Besties challenge.

Books and FFs are both allowed but make sure they are at least 250 pages long.

my TBR is not my own these days it's an amalgam of everybody's page logs lol -- what genre are we exploring ? romance/ thriller/crime ? I'm game for anything

I was planning to read these books this month, plus if anything else if it catches my eye.

Honestly, I have been winging it these days, no fixed TBR as such. Feels like I'm in a perpetual blue funk. I'll have a better list tomorrow 🥲

I’ve been winging it too lol. My TBR consists of whatever is available on skip the line at my library. I’m not even waiting for my holds.

I’m game for anything - thriller or romance or anything else.

I’ve got these books at present:

1. Lessons in Chemistry

2. Lotus - Jennifer Hartmann

3. The last Mrs.Parrish - Liv Constantine

4. Keep it in the family - John Marrs

5. His and Hers- Alice Feeney

6. The simple wild - K.A. Tucker (this one I’ve borrowed and returned unread so many times I’ve become convinced I’ll never read this book unless I’m forced to )

My library has a copy of The Devotion of suspect X. I’ve heard a lot about this book - is it a thriller?

Also has the Lincoln Lawyer series - lmao. Pretty much everything on your list.

Yup, it's a psychological thriller. As for Lincoln Lawyer, it's a bit of courtroom+ crime thriller.
