"There are two things you can run and not hide from- God and a dysfunctional family". (R.Alan Woods, The Journey is the Destination: A Photo Journal)
YEH KYA THA??𤪠After watching today's episode, that's the question that has been running in my mind.šHere I was, worried to death that we may be dished out a memory loss track after the CVs were done appeasing us with the consummation scene...what followed was absolute CHAOS. Trust CVs to turn EVERYTHING serious into a joke by inserting oodles of drama
For starters, like it happens in countless Bollywood movies and TV soaps (how the diya starts flickering and then gets extinguished, symbolising the death of the main characterš) right before the "anhoni" was to happen to Raman, Toshi suddenly started feeling constricted in her chest, her mind running wild...ISHITA, who was working in the clinic also started feeling uneasy...as if something bad was about to happen..and both their reactions were linked to the bijli kadkoing outside...somehow, cinematically THUNDER AND LIGHTNING HAVE TO be associated with two eager souls consummating their love, or something dark and sinister like murder or maar-peet...ufff
Khair, from the clinic itself, Ishita called Raman...who had just reached the apartment and was in the parking lot...She was urging him to come back home soon...Raman in WHITE is a TREAT FOR THE EYES...Cannot sekofy my eyes enuff, I tell you!šš And when the wind blew in his face, his smart cropped hair looked slightly swept..and the grin playing on his face as he talked to Biwi...wowwoowo!!
He was sending feelers to his wife, right over the phone "Tum ghar aa jao..aur bas tum...aur main" haaye...such invitations! Aise mein kaise control rahega hamara khud peš¤Ŗ
Anyway, at Iyer house, all the ladies have congregated...with Toshi discussing her premonitions..Simmi tries to calm her down, but Toshi ka dil dhak dhak kiye jaa raha hai..
In the meanwhile, 2-3 jeeps arrive and a bunch of 15-20 goons, approach and gherao Raman ...with lathis and other weapons in hand...without a word, they start beating him up...he gives it back too , to a couple of them...but they are one too many and he is slowly cowering under the impact of the attack...Ishita, who till seconds ago was laughing at his jokes, suddenly her face darkens as he hears the noise through the phone...scared, she calls out his name "Ramann..!!" "Ramannn kaun hai woh?" "Raman kya hua...kuch boliye naa!"
Anxious and desperate, while still holding on to her call with Raman (his phone had fallen down somewhere) she called Simmi up and asked her to go down with the others, coz some people were beating Raman up...
Suraj and Parmeetey, like pakka chors, were watching the fight sequence from the other side of the road, through the bushes...Parmeetey, somehow got the info from some "source" that none of the men in either families were at home and so it was a good time to attack him...
My husband, who was sitting with me wondered, "Aise hi apartment mein ghuske maar sakte ho kya kisiko? Where;s the security?"š
EXACTLY. I mean, Lambu doesnt have ANY marbles to speak of, but what's up with Suraj? Kya planning hai! Waah! Dushman ko peetne ke liye gunde bheje, woh bhi usi ke gufa mein? Usi ke ghar mein?!! And baarish hote hi security ghar bhaag jaati hai kya???
It seems the scriptwriters were tired giving us such Ishralicious moments from the past 4 days and so they decided to give their brains a rest and concocted this bit...It would have looked more believable had Raman been beaten up somewhere AWAY from his home...no, am not happy that he was beaten, in any case...just sayingš¤¢
Immediately all the ladies came down...Toshi's reaction on seeing Raman getting beaten up was funny...she looked like she had seen a ghost...sorry, that made me laughš Madhvi's reaction was more spot-on and devoid of unnecessary theatrics...and what followed next was HILARIOUS, mostly...and gut-wrenching and emotional, in bits...
The ladies picked up brooms, wipers, chappals, sticks and godknowswhat to hit the goons...it was funny...it looked like Vaanar Sena had dropped down from Ramayana to set these goons rightšš I liked Mihika's expression when she saw Raman, beaten and bloodied...she was so concerned...
It was sad and heartbreaking to see Raman covered in blood...his body bruised with the brutal attack...since I was shit scared of the memory loss track following suit soon, I wasnt able to laugh off certain other things in the scene...
But yes...the ladies taking the goons al by themselves reeked of Women Empowerment, Mahila Morcha...and abso hilarity ššš Madhvi 'swept' up a lot of goons with the broom itselfš Toshi even used her strong, sturfy Punju hands to "manhandle" some of the gundas...
There was a point where one of the gundas tried to hit Raman on the head, with a lathi...Bhalla ji miraculously materialized on the scene and caught hold of the lathi and started beating the goon back with it...I liked the rage and indignance in his eyes, when he let out a sort of a war cry, "MERE BETE KO MAREGA!!" That was nice...it showed in his eyes how PROTECTIVE he was of his son...š
Romi and Appa too joined in...Appa looked SCANDALISED hitting the gundas...ššš Maybe he was scared of breaking his code of peace and non-violenceš
I also liked how Toshi singularly fought a gunda ...hitting him with his bare hands...and looking like she was gouge his eyes out...she was screaming like a banshee "Mere bacche pe haath uthaega...tere haath kaatke boti boti kar dungi" or something like that...For that one minute, Toshi had that MAD, RAGING look in her eyes...the kind a mother gets when she sees anything or anyone attack/harm her child...gave him goosebumps...and made me realise why Mothers can be such maniacal, powerful beings for their children...
A mother whose child is in any kinda danger can, and will go to any extent to protect her child...no matter how she does it! Good one, Toshi š
Anyway, the attack and counter-attack scene between the gundas and the Iyers and Bhallas was mostly chaotic and funny, save those bits where Bhalla ji's and Toshi's maternal and paternal instinct came right back in place...but we should have understood that YHM CVs will soon be back to their usual standards and give us melodrama-filled episodes...so yeah, the ONLY consolation is that Bhalla family is united. Finally.š
Anyway, they instantly rushed Raman to the hospital...It looked pretty serious, judging by their tensed faces and the amount of blood loss Raman visibly suffered...the doctor at the hospital said the same thing...but it all turned funny once Raman, lying on the hospital bed, saw the doctor readying his syringe ...
bas...injection dekha aur Raman ki batti gull ho gayiš
He tried to get up off the bed...as Toshi and Ishita tried to restrain him...kisi bhi tarah se doctor ne injection laga hi diya...some bits in the hospital were funny...
The nurse who tended to him in the hospital was the same S.Indian nurse who helped in Vandu's delivery...remember, the grumpy-looking woman with a heavily accented Hindi and grandma glasses and two ponytails bobbing up and down on either side of her head...
After Raman's head got bandaged and he was injected and all, the nurse came and tried to dress wounds somewhere at the back of his head...
Raman got fidgety AGAIN. The nurse said, "Calm down"
"Kaam seekho" he yelled backš
The nurse, unable to argue much with this jumpy man, left him to his state...the doc came a while later and informed Raman he'd have to stay in the hospital...under observation, till they were doubly sure he suffered no internal injuries...anyway, Raman did a lot of nakhra...and said he wud rather go home...Ishita cracked down on him like an intelligence officer and said he would HAVE to stay here as the doc says...and she will make sure he gets all his injections...
Bhalla ji, Romi did their bit...in staying by his side and caring for him...Romi even yelled at the nurse for not doing the dressing properly 'Kya kar rahe ho aap? Dressing kar rahe ho ya deewar se paint nikaal rahe ho"
So yeah..it was MELODRAMATIC...down to the last bit...coz well...CVs HAD to unite the Bhallas and couldn't do it in a sensible manner...š
Personally, am GLAD they didnt go for the memory loss track...but then, I felt the scene could have been executed WAYYY better without making it look all haphazard and hurried...chaotic..and without inserting those funny elements in the hospital...I like humour, yes...but it felt misplaced...they could've spent time panning the camera on Toshi's, Bhalla ji's and Romi's faces...and displayed the range of emotions playing thru in these characters...the fear of losing a loved one...could've been shown in a much somber manner, which, ideally, would have complimented the fight sequence...except for a couple of Raman's lines, I wasn't laughing much...was just wondering WHY they had to insert melodrama as a concluding part of EVERY GODDAMN TRACKš„±
Khair...YHM ki aadat hi hai...serious se serious cheez ko mazaak mein udana...
I wasnt particularly moved or bowled over by today's episode...š coz I felt they could've done so much BETTER with this Uniting-Bhallas-is-our-mission track...but then, subtlety, without an overdose of excessive drama...as well as sensibility as well as a proper conclusion to a track has never been YHM CV's forte. We will let it rest at thatš
Anyway, it seems Shagun's love life will start soon...more than Bhallas reuniting, THIS gives me MUCH MORE HAPPINESS and reliefšš
First, the dhobi comes and gives the doc's clothes to Shagun..she inspects them and realises they aren;t hers...refuses to pay...dhobi says Shanti herself had given the clothes...she says - let her come back, maybe these are her husband's clothes...once she comes back, you can settle it with her
The doc flatmate, she is unaware of was on his way back to the flat, since he caught viral...she is at home...and gets a call on the landline...and wonders "Maine toh kisiko number nai diya hai" ...the doc is soon going to barge into the flat and then they'll have nain-matakka...each, wondering what the other is doing in "his" / "her" flat
I'd have looked forward to it...UNFORTUNATELY...the doctor looks younger to Shagun and like he could be her apprenticeš is not the least bit good-lookingš and doesnt know the A of acting...and his chemistry with Shagun is most prolly gonna stink...Gosh!
I just realised - Rinky was the only one who wasn;t there at the hospital...but khair, she is the sort who will bemoan the fact that her Bhai came out of it alive...such a wretched woman she has turned intoš”š”š”
