Chapter 1-3: Quite an intriguing start...With the Iyers.
Bala is adopted! That's a different take! In the show, Bala was distant from his family but never cut them off. His mother stayed with him, only Subbu wasn't invited when Ishita was to attend a family function or vice versa. When Subbu was back again, Bala seemed to have genuinely cared for him as well, of course Ishita had moved on by then and fixed Subbu's marriage with her SIL Simmi, so the feeling of guilt was lifted. Bala seemed to me a genuine family guy who was bullied by his mother, so he tried to balance both sides of his family and in laws.
