Synopsis/Description:
Ishita Iyer was an enigma to the Tamil society. A naive, overly protected girl who had her life ruined over a 12-year relationship.
The girl that got away.
It had been seven years since anyone had spoken to or heard about her.
And now she returned, seven years later - with a five-year old daughter in tow.
Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla needed a reason to stomp over the growing feelings for her husband. When coerced into facing her past - the community she once successfully shunned seven years ago - Ishita considered it to be an ideal opportunity to get away from him and rediscover the girl she left behind all those years ago.
Raman Kumar Bhalla wasn't going to be friend zoned by his own wife. Per se.
Nalini Reddy was in love with husband, Subramanian Reddy - albeit unrequited. She wouldn't permit that wench to steal him all over again.
Subramanian Reddy had life right where he wanted it to be. He had an heir to his family, and now all that he needed was Ishita. His promise fulfilled. He would woo the woman who haunted his dreams for the last twenty-one years all over again.
In a big fat Bollywood inspired Indian wedding eyes meet, dance cards are filled, matches are made, love professed and scandals await as hearts are readily given away by those present there.

Meherbaan follows Raman and Ishita in a tale loosely based on the show.
December 17, 2008 - Mumbai (Chapter 16 - Flashback)
Ishita is a medical student who on a holiday trip to Mumbai meets Raman. He almost hits her in a road accident. Both infuriated with the real life experiences they fail to see eye to eye. Raman remembers the encounter, which was clearly meant to be forgotten, and later that night decides to go out clubbing in order to forget all the mishaps in his life and get away from the demons that haunt him. He sees a drunk Ishita being peeved on yet making no attempt to get away or comprehend the actions of the men surrounding her and for some reason she reminds him of himself and he proposes to take her out that night which her almost drunk self agrees.
They spend the night sight seeing at the end of which Ishita rambles about her life while Raman seeks company in her knowing that she's not really present mentally. Somewhere down the line he mentally puts forth a proposal. His daughter who will be born in seven months time needs a mother, Ishita who is unable to conceive needs a child and he needs a confidante. He puts the proposal on paper only for Ishita to have no recollection of the previous night.
A firm believer in fate Raman lets Ishita go, admitting to himself that she was better off without him or his world.
December 2013 - Delhi
Raman shifts to Delhi from Mumbai only to meet Ishita who is now his almost four year old daughters best friend' and as a part of a messy divorce and custody battle ends up marrying Ishita - twice - who still has no recollection of who he is or ever having meeting. They fail to see eye to eye and focus on raising their kid. With Raman being an absentee father, Ishita a first time mother and their clashing egos things don't really go as plan especially with the difference in cultural and moral upbringing between the two of them. With Ruhi as a bridge between them they find a middle ground until Raman sacrifices everything in order to save his eleven-year old son facing criminal charges. In a political/corporate farce Raman choses to entangle himself in a web of lies in order to make the legal force believe that he was having an illicit relationship with his ex who was the driver behind the wheel that almost killed Ishita's mother in a hit and run case when in reality he was the one who found the older lady and was with Ishita the whole time. When Raman who instigated Ishita to bring justice to the culprit responsible for her mother condition turns tables on her for an unknown reason, Ishita just blames his lack of interest on the fact that he was a busy man and such meager cases were none of his concern. Ishida's blind trust in Raman is shattered when harsh circumstances reveal that he's the one protecting the culprit - his ex. With Raman giving no explanation and Ishita finally done in matters involving anyone but her daughter she cuts ties with Raman. Their volatile relationship starts affecting their daughter who tries her level best to 'fix them'. Seeing the affect they have on their daughter Ishita proposed that she and Raman try to be friends rather than strangers or a normal couple raising a kid, the latter which neither of them want. They find themselves bonding and growing closer than expected. Ishita too afraid that she'll start falling for him lets her siblings persuade her in to visit her childhood home she left behind seven years ago. Using her favorite cousins wedding as an excuse to get away from Delhi and her in-laws home. Clearly underestimating her daughters love, Ruhi pesters Raman until her confirms that he had nothing to do with Ishita's impending visit to Chennai which her remembers her telling him was one place she'll never return to given how they terrorized her post her failed relationship which ended in her being dumped over her medical condition, Raman wonders on why she'd choose to return there. Ishita leaves for Chennai two weeks in advance while Ruhi's at school and Raman at work. With Ishita being an integral part of their life Raman and Ruhi almost fail to function until Raman gives into Ruhi's demand of attending the wedding bailing her out of school. What Ishita doesn't expect is Raman following Ruhi into his personal version of hell. Or why he was so unexpectedly so 'nice' to her with minimal taunts and insults all whilst playing the role of the perfect. Now used to playing the perfect couple in public and comfortable physically, no one doubts their relationship. With Ishita's ex now disillusioned from his mothers views and clasp willing to give up a perfect family in pursuit of her, the society's lack or respect or condolence for Ishita who is seen as an embarrassment, Raman finally realizing that Ishita means more to him than a co-parent he is best friends with and Ishita finally coming in terms with the version of herself she left behind years ago - Meherbaan is a mess.
