What an update, the snark from Subbu's friends, perfection... I like his friends. I don't like Subbu- but I like his friends... they should be even snarkier... oooh I wonder what they think about his mommy!😆

I resent Subbu. There, I said it. I can kind of see the pitiful man in him , but still can't bring myself to feel anything but resentment. He's lusting after another man's wife and begrudging their happiness...

And his father, introduction I believe. Again, un-named? But that's OK. For him, that's okay. And his views too... so similar to his son's... 'stole his son's place'? Really? Reeeally? 🤪 Whatever. But his observations were nice, a different viewpoint and still the same old look of love between the Bhallas . Love the noticing of the unconscious moments of togetherness and being in sync, the happiness they find in their little ordinary moments, the unassuming nature of the love- so clean and innocent despite all the complications... beautiful.

And the date, he asked her out ... so sweet. Can't wait. Romance. I insist. Has to be there on a date. And you can do it. I'm not asking for sappy, but the subtle kind you write... that works. That really works. Especially for this ISHRA.

Ed Sheeran- every emo girl's geeky voice crush... love . Beautiful song, beautiful lyrics.. beautiful moment. And ofcourse Shravu, my little rock star.. 'self proclaimed best friend'... I saw that, don't think i didn't... 😉

In conclusion- a beautiful update, subtle romance and a overwhelming sense of calm and sweetness in the eye of bitterness and resentment- well done. Well written, the extreme effort and time is very obvious and appreciated. And you are loved for it. Will await the translations , whenever you can is cool.. no matter. Studying is always more important. But I still selfishly want to say I look forward to the next update. Because I do. 😛

I'm such a sadist but I enjoyed how all the boys kind of bashed Subbu and assumed that Ishita had left him because he was beneath. I do agree with the fact that Subbu is way beneath Ishita but for other reasons than money. Raman and Shravan have such a cute bond that I just simply adore.

Raman and Ishita already act like the perfect couple. Everyone around them sees it and I'm sure they see it too, they just don't want to title it with the word couple. It's super sweet that Raman fulfills all of Ishita's wants, even if he think she's crazy. Would love to see how this going out for dancing outing turns out.

I really can't seem to guess who the girl could be, so I'm just going to wait for your next update.

C H A P T E R 1 7 E D H E E R E J A L N A

No one would believe that the God of Child Rearing at the moment would face the crisis like every other father did. That he would be the burying his face in his palms as his younger one bawled her eyes out.

"Mujhe nahi khana," whined little Ruhi.

"Sure? Toh aaj hum empty tummy so jayenge?" countered her father, his face still buried in his hands.

"Papa you're being mean, mujhe nahi khana yucky veg khana,"

"Par tum hi toh kehti ho ki Mama ka veg food sabse accha hota hai,"

"Hota Hai!" the one replied with affirmation, "Par aj nahi khana mujhe veg khana,"

"Pata hai, kabhi kabhi mujhe bhi Ishita ka khane ko dekhkar rona aata hai," replied Raman pulling a sad face.

"Papa,"

"Hmm, bolo."

"Kuch order karte hai na," said Ruhi cupping her Dad's face.

"Bad idea. Mujhe Mama ki dant nahi khani."

Ruhi cried harder. And Raman silently laughed at her misery. Why why his daughter so adorable?

"Par Mumma ne kaha tha ki Papa khana order kar denge," Ruhi managed to reveal between hiccups.

"Haan, toh tumhe pata hai toh tum ro kyun rahi ho?" as Raman now smirking at Ruhi which caused Ruhi to smile, giggle and hiccup at the same time. "Chalo, eyes wipe karo. Mujhe ek tear dikh raha hai. Aur papa ko hug kaun karega"

Raman wiped a stray tear off Ruhi's cheek as she giggled and he giggled with her as he hugged her back.

"Dramebaaz. Bilkul apne maa pe gayi ho."

"Tulane ke liye ice cream khilane padegi, papa,"

"Accha. Ice cream ke liye toh permission nahi mili hai."

"Secret. Papa aur Ruhi ka secret."

"Secret kehti ho. And phir jakar Mama ko keh deti ho. And daant mujhe padti hai."

Ruhi giggled.

"Dekho Tingu kitna accha boy hai, ice cream ke liye demand bhi nahi karta hai,"

"Ice cream. Mujhe bhi chahiye. Mein Amma se nahi kahunga, promise."

"Tumhari teesri bhatakti hui aatma kaha hai?"

"Kaun, Tammy? Mein abhi lekar aata usko,"

"Shravu ke bacche, Peri Appa ko bolke Anna. Warna woh sach mein samaj lenge ki tumhe

donate kiya hai. And vapas yaha ana hai."

Raman smiled. His baby was safely cocooned in his arms and she locked her arms around his neck.

"Accha yeh batao Rooh, tumne itne jaldi rona aur ansoo poochna kaha seekha?"

Ruhi grinned in return.

"Pehle kissi do,

"Totally, tumare Ma ka asar hai."

"Haaw, Papa. Buri baath," said Ruhi as she poked Raman's nose.

"Accha, toh yeh lo," said Raman as he ticked Ruhi and placed a wet kiss on her cheek tickling

her as the little one laughed.

"Papa, how does Mama kiss you? Aapki dari toh chubti hai,"

"Itni badi baath. Mama se pooch lete hai. And papa ne toh shave kiya hai Rooh."

"Nahi, papa. Lagti hai sachchi. And Mama se nahi punchenge. Nahi toh Mama blush karegi,

aiiiseee," said Ruhi as she imitated her blush causing Raman to throw his head back and laugh

as he then squished Ruhi closer, brushing her nose against his.

It was then that Ruhi suddenly exclaimed that he freeze for a second.

"Papa, vaise hi rehna. Selfie."

Raman let out a sigh in return to the mini heart attack his daughter's mini screech.

"Rooh,"

"Papa, aap move na karo. Vaise nahi. Aisa. Freeze. Now phone. Yeh app bilkul accha nahi hai. Yeh wala accha hai. Now waise. Move. Mujhe bhi aana hai picture mein. Perfect. Now smile. Nahi papa, smile. Good. Aur thoda. Okay. One Two Three. Done. Wow. Fast Mama ko bhej do."

Ruhi tapped her feet in impatience as Raman shook his head.

"Accha Appa, yaha non-veg banta hai kya?"

"Banta hai, sirf banane wala chaiye?" said Ishita's favourite cousin Vishwa. "Kyun meri Ruhi ko non veg khana hai?"

Ruhi grinned and nodded Vishwa mama. She liked him.

"Par banayega kaun?" she said lost in her thoughts while she clung to her dad like a baby monkey.

"Mama?"

"No. Mama chicken nahi khati. Mama chicken ko touch bhi nahi karti."

"Chachu?"

"No. Papa chachu se accha khana banate hai!"

"Toh papa?"

"Papa jab Mama ko manane le kiye khana banate hai toh Paati ka pura batter jalate hai. Papa

se khana nahi banta." Ruhi giggled.

"Papa se idli dosa nahi banta. Baaki sab banta hai." interrupted Raman.

"Nahi, papa. Aapse khana nahi banta. Adi Bhaiya se poochlo."

"Adi bhaiya se kyun?"

"Adi bhaiya ghar pe hai na. Isiliye. Adi bhaiya ki Mama ko bahar jaana tha toh Mama ne kaha

Adi bhaiya ko Dadi ke paas rehne do. Toh Adi ki mumma ne okay bola."

"Sans bhi lo, Ru. Papa yahi par hai,"

"Mama ne bhi apko bola hoga, but apne ne suna nahi hoga. Toh maine bata diya papa. Aapki

Rooh toh good girl hai na,"

"Ab cry baby bhi hai,"

"Nahi, mein cry baby nahi hoon,"

Raman turned to Vishwa, "Vishwa, humari Rooh cry baby nahi hai? Dekho, big fat tears, mujhe dikh rahe hai."

"Nahi Papa. Mein cry baby nahi hoon. Shravu cry baby hai.

"Tum Shravu ko terrorise karti ho. Voh brave boy hai."

Ruhi glared at her father who chuckled and pressed her nose as if it were a button.

"Tum apni Mama pe itni kyun gayi ho," he said.

"Mama boys ko nahi rulati hai," said Ruhi causing Raman and Vishwa to chuckle.

"Chalo, Vishwa chittapa humari Rooh ke liye khana bana lege?"

"Aur papa sou chef?"

"Done."

"So Cool!

"Chalo," said Vishwa who lifted Ruhi in his arms.

"Nahi, wait. Chachu ko phone karna hai. Papa, phone,"

"Ho gaya? Ab chachu ko phone karein?" said Raman.

Ruhi by now had started jumping in Vishwa's arms waiting for her chachu to pick her call up. Her fringe bouncing up and down, her lips forming the perfect o. And the light giggle when her chachu picked the call up. The phone on loud speaker.

"Kya timing hai bhai. Abhi toh free hua hoon. Ah. Maza aaya, vaise bhi score kya hai?"

"Australia won by 7 wickets?"

"Bhai. Kya karoon mein tera. Kitna bhola re tu. Waise bhi waha koi hot nahi hai. Obviously humari Mihika, Vandy Akka, Amma, the Bride and obviously meri Bhabhi ko chhod ke. Mujhse nahi hota vaha rehna. Ehk. Waise muje Amma ka khana khaana hai. Aur you better not have fought with Bhabhi. Meri bholi si bhabhi."

"Ek din sardi mein rehkar tu pagla hai kya? Kya bakwaas kar raha hai tu?"

"Bhabhi teek kehti hai, kuch bathein tumhari samaj ke bahar hai,"

"Oh, bhabi ke pujari. Ho gaya tera?"

"Nahi hua ha, meri Chuhi kaha hai?"

Raman rolled his eyes.

"Chacchhhuuu."

"Ruuu."

"Ruu,"

"Mujhe ghar aana. Yaha sab bure hai. Dadi right thi."

"Ru, buri baath. Mama ko kaha toh Mama ko bura lagega na?"

"Haan. And Ruhanika brave girl hai. Chachu, apko pata mein aaj ek baby se mili. Kitna cute tha. But kitna noisy tha. Har waqt cry kar raha tha. Thank god mera Adi bhaiya bada hai. Poor Shrav, uski baby sister kitna cry karegi. So scary. Aur apko pata hai, Papa ne shave bhi ki hai. Next mission papa ke hair cut karwa lena,"

"Aacha, aur Mama kaha gayi hai?" chucked Romi.

Ruhi in turn asked her father who replied saying, "Chudail banne gayi hai. Mujhe toh abhi se dar lagne laga hai," with so much mock seriousness that caused both Vishwa and Romi to burst out laughing while Ruhi mumbled that her mom was pretty only to be seconded by her Chachu.

"Haan bhai, agar bhabhi hot nahi hoti toh tum usse kabhi shaadi nahi kar lete. Kar lete chood, Mama tumhe usse shadi karne nahi deti unless she fit her perfect category of gori chitti sundar and susheel bahu. Sabko pata hai how relieved mom was when your Tamilian girl turned out to be a looker."

"Tumhe toh mein vaha aakar juthe se pitwa lunga,"

"Kya bhai, apne chote bhai se aise baath karoge aap?"

"Yeh filmy dialogue marne band karo, tum sab log itne over dramatic kyun ho yaar?"

"Future superstar, bhai. Thodi toh izzat karo."

"Woh beta future mein dekh lenge, ab is waqt tum Papa ke pocket money pe jeete ho. Zyada ud mat."

"Leh, banale izzat ka falooda."

"Kam ki bath karo, Hangover Pasta ka recipe de do."

"Bhai, yeh to record hai. Normally toh tumhe ek saal lagta hai, minimum, bhabhi ko itna naraz karne ke liye ki woh totally boycott kare. Last time toh Mihir ki shadi mein tum dono ne baccho ki tarah ek dusre se bath karna chood diya tha exactly six months after jab tumne Ruhi ko daant diya tha and bhabhi ne tumhe ghar se almost nikal diya tha. Ab tumne toh ek din mein record tod liya. Dekh bhai, tumhare semi annual fight ka time ho raha hai. Kuch mat karna, varna mazaq udane ki bajaye voh lungi pehen ne wale tumhe pitwa denge," laughed Romi choking on his own laughter.

"Nahi chachu, papa aise kuch nahi karenge," promised Ruhi.

"Abbe oh, bina dhakkan ke pressure cooker. Jitna dimag mein bheja hai na. Utna soch. Zyada samandar banne ki koi zaroorat nahi nai. Samjha? Aur tumhare bhabhi ko ajeeb ajeeb daure padte hai, ismein mera koi kasoor nahi hai." said Raman, the later part extra sweetly.

"Toh ma se pooch na,"

"Ma se? Ms tumhare bhabhi ki number one fan hai. Sudha sudha mujhe dant de degi. Aur Ruhi ko bhi. And vaise bhi seedhe seedhe bata varna tumhari voh Russian jo girlfriend hai na, uske barein mein Ishita ko bata dunga. And Ishita ma ko. And Sarika ke kand ke baad maa seedha kisi kitty party se tere liye dulhan le aayegi."

"Bhai, yeh toh blackmail hai." said Romi as he stayed on the call making sure Raman and Vishwa prepared the pasta well with Ruhi, Shravan and Tamanna sitting on the counter taking care of the little ingredients. Veg for Shravan and Vishwa and non veg for Ruhi, Raman and Tamanna.

The mini trio had even done ahead and ordered a pizza and side dishes along with it too.

Vishwa to be honest had quite liked his brother-in-law. He was down to earth. Easy to talk to once he warmed up to you. Genuine. And a family man. So after the kids were fed, burped and washed Iyer and Bhalla decided to treat the kids to a nice dessert and drive.

Three (or four if you bother to count the sneak peek) updates in 24 hours because I'm too cool in life.
