A massive thank you to all those who are generous enough to comment. It's really heartwarming and despite everything, it motivates me to go on. Firstly, I apologise for not replying to every comment posted. I have projects, journals and so many other educational exams to prepare for and the fact that I'm not a huge fan of India-Forums. I do try to reply when I travel to and fro. Once again, thank you. And the reason for delayed updates is the same ^ as the updates take a lot of time to pen down.

A special thanks to Rajji for being my guiding light and helping me sort this chapter out. And Payal because I'm nothing without my perfectionist. These girls, I tell you. And then a special thanks to all those who let me update and show their presence.

This is half of the intended chapter. I'm not satisfied with as there is nothing important in it and it just drags but here goes nothing, I haven't updated in ages and something better than nothing.

I'm in the middle of examinations which will go on for the months to come so updates to Meherbaan will be slow and painful but will pick momentum. I'll try to pen Meherbaan whenever I take breaks. Answered an examination today, slept for two hours and then started penning this baby and seven hours later I can't take staring at the screen anymore. It makes me feel sick. Will Complete the chapter. And the. Probably go on slow updates. Like this pace. Apologies. But when you haven't studied for two whole preparatory years, you suffer, like I am right now.

Not proof read because my eyes hurt. Sorry.

Pictures mentioned posted by my Bae, above.

This chapter has been split into parts. They will be updated back to back and today (I'll try my level best to). Please excuse the errors as I haven't read though this in a hurry to get to the next part. Secondly, I read and love every comment. As self centred as this sounds, they really do motivate me to write further. The likes on each comment serve as a marker to me so that I know which comment has been replied to and which hasn't.

Chapter Edited by Dhara (@dsgirl)

Fate was a force to deal with it and she reminded us of the particular fact over and over again. Swamini saw Ishita onscreen. Oh, how many years had she spent fuming over the fact that the woman onscreen would steal her son-in-law away from Nalini. Oh, how she hated the fact that the woman onscreen would attend the wedding and how hard had she tried to stop it. And how stupid had she been. How very stupid.

"Wasn't he caught with some socialite ages ago? Oh, yes. He was caught in bed with Shagun Mehra,"

"You do know how particular RKB is about family and you dare to defame him. And even if he was, they would make sure you wouldn't,"

"He? He doesn't even care. You should have been at their wedding. Classic drama. Ishita couldn't decide if she wanted to marry that guy or not. And then the girl didn't really have a choice. They were expecting their daughter. And Raman couldn't keep the child without Ishita and Ishita wasn't permitted to have the child him. And isliye Ishu ne uss haiwan se shadi kar li. Popcorn hota toh kitna maza aata. Kabhi Raman ki ex-wife, I'm sorry, wife back then tried to stop the wedding and our darling Ishu took her for a fool - usse hi jhoot ki tasalli dekar uske hi pati se shadi kar li. Apne hi 'dost' ki saut ban gayi. And he? He didn't even care. He married Ishita during the final days of his divorce. Yaha divorce khatam nahi hua and waha Ishita se shadi. Ishita ko jitna mahan bana rahe ho, utna mahan vo hai nahi. She's a wolf in sheep's clothing - deceptive and wicked. And he? He's a manipulative, borderline abusive drunk who decides what Ishita does, when she does and how she does it. Dysfunctional. That'd what they are. A messy dysfunctional couple. Kaha mera Subbu and kaha ye mannerless drunk," stated Subbu's mother, and for once no one paid any heed to her.

"Haan, agar kiski hone wali bahu shadi todkar kisi aur se shadi kare toh jalan toh hogi na. Jalne ki boo toh har taraf se aa rahi hai," said Mihika.

"Jalne ki boo vahan se nahi, tumhari taraf se aa rahi. Aap bhi soche ki kaha Subbu and kaha tumhare 'Jiju', at least my Subbu doesn't have an ex-wife or a son where his priorities lie. And at least my Subbu wouldn't hide the existence of a son until his ex-wife reveals it to his to be bride on his wedding day. At least my Subbu isn't a workaholic jisko apne nashe pe koi control nahi. Atleast my Subbu wasn't rejected. Your Akka is a reject, will be a reject and har waqt reject hi hote rahegi. Jisko apne hi parivaar ne bahar fehka hai, saath(7) saal bad muh utake aa gayi hai. Kya sabit karne? That she lives a perfect life? You know the truth and I know the truth. Jo bhi jaisa dikhta hai vaisa hota nahi. And yaad rakhna Ishita ko Subbu ne reject kiya. Ishita ne Subbu ko nahi. Yeah tumhare parivaar ka jo kahaani banani ka shauk hai, band karo." continued Ishita's once to be mother-in-law.

Mihika smirked as her phone vibrated with an incoming message informing her that her Jiju was on his way. She gladly let this delusional woman continue her rampage.

"Kyun mein jhoot bol rahi hoon?" pressed Subbu's mother.

"Nahi, woh kya hai na. Jiju is on his way. And as you said, he obviously doesn't care. So you can continue bad mouthing his wife and we shall get those favourite popcorn of yours and enjoy reactions. Whatever you were saying, please continue," replied Mihika.

That shut Subbu's mother up. And the audience who were waiting for a reply with bated breaths for what is to come. And then did Raman enter with his posse in tow. And that shut everyone up. Subbu's mother sunk further in her chair as the rest of her 'family' wondered what was wrong with her. Wasn't she the one who was ranting on about Ishita's husband.

Ishita's husband entered the room enhanting everyone with his presence and went off went leaving everyone to wonder about what exactly had transpired between Madhavi's daughter and this man, so much so that the latter had married Ishita. A girl like Ishita. A girl who was doomed to have no future at all. A girl who had loved another. A girl who loved Swamini's son-in-law. And the passing moment made her want to know what exactly had transpired even more. It made the questions carefully locked at the back of her mind resurface. What had caused Subbu to give up on a girl he had carved so many varied futures with to abruptly propose to Nalini. No, my daughter is happy, she is loved and she has the perfect family. What more does she want? And once again Swamini found herself pacifying her heart, telling it that everything was fine and reassuring it that nothing could harm her daughter. Nothing at all.

"Aaiii. The water is so cold. Paani kitna thanda hai. Akeli si ladki hai. Chand si raat hai aur ek tum. Breakup mera hua and muh phulake tum baithe ho."

Ishita's face filled the screen. She was dressed in a full sleeved blue lace partially backless bodycon dress that ended two inches below her thighs. The recorded video wasn't great quality but the quality popped eye balls. The camera panned from Ishita's feet which were bare to her hand which held her heels to her face with perfected makeup and hair which was teased into perfect loose beach waves. She was a sight to behold.

"Raaaman. Come here. See even the camera is sad that you're not in its frame. Ao bhi na baba. Itne nakre and jalwe. Aa bhi jao. We have a wild night ahead, you can't be bored already."

"I'm not bored. Tumhare saath and bored? Koi mauka de toh. Bas yahi soch raha hoon ki kis pagal khane se bhag kar aayi ho. Subah almost suicide and ab pagal pan ka daura,"

"Kuch bhi, chalo."

"Muhje nahi aana. It's all sand and water."

"Toh, it's Mumbai. Chalo na."

The camera frame, unstable focused from the water, to Ishita, to Raman as he stood at the shore, a safe distance away from the water. And to Ishita whose feet were immersed in water. In the moonlight the screen shook as Ishita ran towards Raman, his mild protests and her excited squeals. And on the time stamp of the date it was recorded as 18 December 2008. The video was taken just a few months after the Ishita-Subbu breakup.

Swamini looked over at Subbu. This made her wonder more about what made Ishita break up with Subbu. Or vice versa. Had she fallen for another?

"Mihika, isn't your fianc Raman's brother?"

"Yes,"

"How long have you'll been dating?"

"Since I was in high school."

"He was the guy you wanted to invite to Ishita's wedding?"

"There has been no other guy. It's just him. So, yes. Why do you ask?"

"When was Ruhi born?"

"September 2009,"

Since high school. Mihika's fianc's brother. Months into the break up. September 2009.

"Everything seems to fit now. Like a puzzle," said the lady as she mumbled to herself.

"Chalo, Raman is upstairs. Let's get our self updated," Vandita squealed her pregnancy getting the better of her, "And from when is Ishu so organised. Password protected, so organised. I mean, the last time I checked Ishu's files lay cluttered on her desktop. And now?"

"It's just Raman influencing her. Nothing else, now pictures Vandu," said Bala.

"The first picture we asked them to click together. The drama that followed."

"The second shot. Wedding portfolio. The rest photographs. Love this one. It's so adorable. I love the way they look at each other."

"The blush that adores her face. The pride in his eyes. His smirk."

"And shadi ke pehle, you had to keep them apart. They would meet for the lamest reasons of all. Kabhi fight. Kabhi bhag jaane ka plan. Kabhi bas aise he. Infact. Jab Ishu ki mehndi ka din tha, the functions and Raman was free. Ghar ke niche phere marte the. Such a duffer."

"Engagement puja. The hilarious event of them all. And the look on his face. Kabhi smile to karna seek lena chahiye usse."

"Selfie. Tsch. Bala and Ishita. Bestfriend's more than Saali-Jiju. And now Raman-Mihika are following their footsteps. After all engagement puja mein Bala stood up as Ishita's brother. My sweet husband."

"The engagement. Look at the look on her face. Love it."

"The sangeet. Them admiring the dark mehndi. Afterall Jiju loves Akka so much," giggled Mihika.

"The wedding. Look at them. So adorable. So adorable."

"The after wedding lunch,"

"The grah pravesh. Don't remind me of this one."

"The selfie collection. The selfies Ishita takes and so does Ruhi. They're so adorable."

"Flash forward. Ruhi. The little wittle bundle of joy."

Mihika smiled at the video. Trust her Jiju to be her best bud. Mihika couldn't be thankful enough for Raman. How much had his equation changed with everyone since the time they first met. He stood by her everytime, and so did her Akka. No questions asked and no answers given. It was just the trust in their eyes and Mihika knew that she would never let them down. No matter what.

"Do bacche hai humare," Nitya squealed. How adorable is that. "Isn't Ruhi their only child. Who the second one?"

"Chudail samajhe pattar phekenge," repeated Vishwa, "Am I the only one in love with this guys one liners. As much as Ishita hates them, I find them exceptionally witty. Thank heavens he's not another one of those I'm-great-worship-the-ground-I-walk-on types "

"Anna, you spoke to soon. He is. He's exactly one of those types. You shall see." corrected Mihika.

"And Akka is a certified nutcase! Bas." Mihika role d her eyes as the rest of them burst out laughing at this scene.

"This isn't fair, how is paati the only one who gets to see the marriage videos. I want to see it too." Vishwa whined like a two year old, he wanted to watch his favourite girl get hitched. A smile graced his lips as he thought of his Ishita dressed up as a bride. Why did he have to miss that?

"You want to watch them argue at their own wedding. 'Tumhare pichle 2 dulho ki tarah bhag sakta hoon. Shukar manao ki main nahi bhag raha hoon,' quoting him as he did at the engagement Pooja. Who even says that to his bride at such an auspicious moment?" said Paati.

"These two. They actually snuck out to have their daily dose of arguements. And the worst was when they started fighting in their honeymoon suite dragging Mihir and me into their tiffs."

"Your sister was chasing my brother with a condom,"

"Oye, hello. He was the one who ordered it in the first place. And that sounds so wrong."

"But it's right,"

"Periamma, instead of handing Akka your precious pyasam recipe, hand it over to me. Mihir, love, I shall pull a Periamma on you, have fun 'controlling' on your wedding night like your bhai did."

"Aunty, don't do that. Bhai is right." Mihir mumbled "Mikku, yaar, what's this? Vandita, help me. Bala, bro, we have a pact."

"Go to your Bhabhi, aren't you under bro code orders? Go Go."

"Mihika, we have one Raman and Ishita as it is. We do not need a junior version."

"They're epic. Dysfunctional as it gets."

"We were discussing marriage videos."

"Well, they're not on this laptop. We've seen enough wedding footage. Why the ceremony now. It's not any different."

"But,"

"Vishwa, look,"

Ishita walked down the stairs along with Raman, a sleeping Ruhi in her arms. Raman's hand hovered over Ruhi's back as he spoke into his handset, ready to protect her from any fall as he shook head at what was probably Ishita's choice of clothes. Ishita rolled her eyes at her husband and a sleeping Ruhi hung onto her mother like a koala to an eucalyptus tree, or a baby monkey to its mother. And what followed was an admirable scene enjoyed silently by all in utter silence.

"Raman doesn't like it when either he, Ishita or Ruhi are at the centre of attention. He finds it uncomfortable. Introvert at his best. Or just socially awkward. He isn't comfortable sharing his private life with others. And Ishita doesn't want Ruhi to grow up being criticised by unknown people at every move that she makes growing up. The reason Ishita and Ruhi aren't in media attention. And neither does Ruhi. She takes time warming up to people. She's stubborn like her father and self righteous like her mother - a deadly combination," exclaimed Bala, sushing anyone ready to pass a comment on them.

So the 'audience' observed quietly as how the family of three interacted with each other.

Paati smiled at Raman and Ishita along with their daughter. This boy is something, she thought. And Ishita had indeed chosen wisely. What Pati loved more wasn't the gesture by Raman that won accolades in his defense but Ishita's reaction. Her child was happy in her marriage and that was all that Pati needed for her. Nothing else mattered. How they married? Or when they had Ruhi. Or if Ishita was Raman's first wife or second? Nothing mattered. All that mattered was that Ishita was happy. And that was it. That was all.

She loved those snippets into Ishita's life but more than that she loved this - them, together.

Ishita cuddled closer to Raman, her head resting on his shoulder and his arm around her and their daughter lay in their lap. She whispered something in his ear to which he stifled a laugh and whispered something back. He moved forward and she backward - still on his arms. He laughed and moved back and protested to all the moving she had to endure. And time flew as everyone was engrossed on doing plain nothing. It was a few hours later that Ishita had decided to clear the table. And Raman and Ruhi had once again engrossed into plotting and planning mischief. It was then that someone decided that it was a good idea to pay no heed to the warning and place the next video on list.

Pati who was conversing with Shravan stopped and looked ahead.

Vishwanathan and Madhavi stopped to watch the unseen footage.

Mihika and Mihir laughed as the video played.

Nitya and Vishwa discussed something quite animatedly.

Subbu played with his son as Nalini looked ahead.

And everyone else stopped what they were at and watched the screen.

A piano people piece played on as a young couple walked down the aisle.

Christina Perri's The Words interlude played in the background as the scenes merged and flashed back and forth.

Ishita blushed as the camera flashed on her. Grinning into the camera as she showed off her intricate dark mehndi designs.

The camera flashed to Raman busy texting someone. He glared at the camera and one could swear that the man behinds the camera shuddered at the though of filming of this man.

An older lady picked his cell phone from him as he hugged the lady, grinning as she let out a tear of joy and pecked him on his cheek.

The first time I met her. She was a pataka. She wasn't the one I thought I'd be marrying. The one I'd be vowing to spend the rest of my life with. She was crazy. Annoying. Childish. Kind. An amazing person. Like a firefly. She burned too bright with hope, joy, hurt, love and all that came in between. She is magic. She is Beauty. She is love and she was so much that couldn't be mine. My world was too dark for her. She too delicate to be forced into my mess. And the funny thing is, we have a 'filmy' fate.

The screen flashed to Raman and Ishita walking down a staircase. Ishita looked immaculate dressed in a magnificent peach and golden heavily indicated lehenga - gown in hues of gold, blush - soft pastels, mainly pink, paired with beaded embellishments and bohemian motifs. The long, flowing skirt designed to flaunt an ombre effect combined with an intricately beaded top of which the back were just stands of beads sewn together in a pattern. And Raman in a black men's couture design, his hand linked with Ishita's as he gave her a soft smile reassuring her that everything will be fine. She looked into his eyes and smiled back at him.

"Introducing for the first time, Mr and Mrs Raman Kumar Bhalla. Mr. Raman Kumar Bhalla and his beautiful wife Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla."

The spotlight shone on them as Raman lead the way down the stairwell.

And she? She makes me happy. And it's nice. To be happy. It's funny how the craziest and most abrupt decision I've ever made - the one where no one even bother about profit or loss because it just felt right. It's funny how that's the best decision I've made so far.

It flashed through ceremonies. Weddings. Pheras. Family dancing - Mihir & Mihika, Bala & Vandita, Romi, The Bhalla family, and other close and immediate family members. Raman's clan back from Punjab and Ishita's family. Ishita's doctor friends and Raman's colleagues, business partners, celebrities, friends and family.

And then it flashed to Raman and Ishita dancing their first dance together.

And a video of Ishita and Raman in an unknown location as they danced as a crowd rooted for them. There were fireworks in the sky as Ishita giggled to Raman and he gave her a smile. There was a look in her eyes as he spun her around. An undecipherable look. And the time stamp that read 18 December 2008.

And the screen faded to black.

"Apologies. This is my laptop. And I don't even know how it ended here. But you should be courteous enough to not go through anyone else's personal stuff.." Raman disconnected what he called his laptop and proceeded to walk away with it before the laptop was snatched away by Ishita, who hid it behind her back.

"Ishita. Pass it here."

"It's just a video, Raman."

"Acchi tarah se keh raha hoon, pass it here."

"Mein bhi hoon uss video mein. I want to see it."

"It's my video."

"It doesn't specify as 'For Raman's Eyes Only,' "

"Oh, yes it does. That's why you haven't seen it yet."

"Mein nahi dene wali."

And with that Ishita made a dash away from Raman, cent percent sure that he wouldn't chase after her. But he did. He chased right after her. With her running in circles and him following her. With her blocking and him escaping the blocks. Until she crashed right into him, the laptop safely behind her back. Her chest to his. Their faces an inch apart. Their lips millimeters apart. She could feel his hot breath on her face as he could feel hers on his. And in that moment the world faded away and it was just the two of them lost in each other. Lost in a moment lost in time. And he held her against him, securing her in his arms, protecting her from the fall - like he always would. And his lips moved closer to hers as her body moved closer to his.

"Aur Pyaar?" asked the videographer recording the footage for Raman's video. Sitting in a dark room with perfected lighting, Raman quoted the words he never knew would change from recording a video for Ruhi's case and his selfish need to have something cheesy with the girl he pushed away five years ago to what he felt today. The words that would define his relationship with the very same girl who entered his life yet again years later as his wife.

"Pyaar dosti hai, agar woh meri dost nahi hoti. Toh main usse kabhi pyaar nahi kar sakta."

I was beginning to wonder when you will update next. I can understand the stress of studying and definitely studies are important, so do focus on them. I don't think people here will mind waiting for your updates.
Coming to the updates, I particularly liked the beach scene, to see one of the first moments when Ishita and Raman met was amazing and the way you wrote it was different and nice. I somewhat appreciate the fact that Raman disconnected the laptop in the end cause I was actually going to tell you that I think we need to move on from the videos now. Glad that you did it in this update itself. Looking forward to the present story moving forward now.

SO SO AMAZINGGG! :D
.. i can't even begin... LOVE this FF and I'm so glad you have updated. Love this one and the last one and all the above.. in LOVE with R&I&R (raman, Ish, & Ruhi)- adore their scenes like anything. What the heck is up with the family spying on them over everything.. I guess that just makes it so interesting- to read their perspective on a scene from their eyes and the narrator's.
You're doing so so well and keep up such an amazingg work. something so different on IshRa.
- Hate Subbu's mum. ugggh. serves her right for cowering when Raman walked in. This dude's got a presence, bro.. stay away! & Swamini- glad she's finally putting the pieces together.
- Love mikku/mihir's banter- LOL. whole Iyer and Bhalla clan. Patti.
- Can I say- how much I love this Raman, Ish & Ruhii- omgssh. the bedroom scene and the lunch dinning- so into their world. hayeee. too adorbs. Love Raman's protectiveness and doing/proving a point to this damn fam cauz of Ishita.
& the videeo. awhhee's. their story pinned together in video. So they knew each other way before marriage and was she already preg. with Ruhi- during their beach datee?
& AWWWH- to the last bit.. you actually made Raman pull a KKHH (rahul's punch line)- like AAHHH! loveee you for that. how faab can these two get?
ofcourse dosti shaadi mein badal gayii. awhieee. gjskfjdkfjdf* too cutee*!

can't wait for the next one. this one's still amazingg.. and it's okay.

Firstly, thank you for for taking time out of your studying to update, that's much appreciated.

Next, terrific update!👍🏼

The MIMI & ISHRA banter is wonderful. The vids, the pix and the lovely description of their first meeting (tying back to Rajji's story right?)- all of it is very well done.

Considering the length, the detail, the plethora of characters as well as the multi media element to this story it very obviously also takes a lot of time for you to create, though it all adds to its uniqueness.

Am I right in assuming that the inclusion of that aspect will be lessened in the next chapters because of the disappearing laptop? Although I do appreciate them, hopefully that means less work for you. 😊

Whether its all there or not, we are here for the story and the story- and that's going amazingly. One of the things I love about your writing is the way you switch effortlessly between characters and scenarios, between past and present with such ease- something that is very clear in this update as well. Great job once again.

Really looking forward to your next update though... whenever it may come😊
